Nokia Lumia Play 2-in-1: Smartphone and Games console!

We are glad to say that another great idea for Nokia smartphone next year has just been spotted: Nokia Lumia Play. This is a super cool concept and design for a gaming phone developed by designer Antonio Celestino. Now, let’s get into details and you will decide whether it is fantastic or not!

nokia lumia play

It is easily to see that Nokia Lumia Play is a concept smartphone aiming at gaming. We figure it out not only from the name but also the design. It features sliding game pads which can improve or bring a totally new mobile gaming experience since you will not have to move your fingers on a not-very-spacious screen anymore.

That is for the look. Nokia Lumia Play specs are also mentioned as a powerful package of hardware capable of delivering stunning graphics which is pretty important for most gaming smartphones. Accordingly, the Play is powered by Microsoft XBOX technology. Moreover, you can use it as a gamepad with an XBOX 360 console. It is just like 2 in 1: a smartphone and a part of a games console. Cool!

Other features of the Nokia Lumia Play are a quad-core CPU, 2 GB of RAM paired with 32 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64 GB via a microSD card), and a display with high definition, 1136 x 640 resolution and Gorilla Glass. As for the camera, there are a 10 MP Full HD rear and a 5 MP front-facing snapper. Though this is not a camera-centric smartphone, we hope Nokia can equip the main shooter with 13 MP or more. Also, Lumia Play is said to support NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and Wi-Fi, and come with 5 different color options.

Last but not least, you may wonder what the operating system the Play runs on. Looking at the picture, it is quite sure that the OS is Windows Phone, and Windows 10 is the newest OS now, so what can be better than that?

Closing note

To conclude, honestly we are impressed with the design of Nokia Lumia Play most. Perhaps gaming smartphones are not very rare on the market but we believe the Play will draw a lot of attention. Do you agree?

Best gaming smartphones for November

In this post, we would like to introduce some tips of how to choose a good gaming smartphone to you. Moreover, we have some extremely potential candidates for you, too. Now, check out the tips first!

gaming smartphones

You should consider these things:

– Processor: This is very important because if your processor has low productivity, you cannot enjoy millions of games in Play Store comfortably. Qualcomm’s chips such as Snapdragon 800 series, Samsung’s Exynos 7420, Exynos 5433 and Exynos, and MediaTek MT6595, MT6752 and MT6732 would be perfect.

– RAM: It is okay to go with a 2GB RAM smartphone, yet if you can pay more, a 3GB or 4GB RAM will be greater. Combining with the chipset, big RAM will help run your handset real fast.

– Display: It is not the most essential factor but without it, you cannot enjoy the game 100%. In most cases, HD 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) resolution is the minimum level for a good gaming smartphone. More ideal ones would be Full HD 1080p or even higher resolutions such as 2K and 4K.

Battery: This affects directly the time you can play games on your phone. You should choose a machine sporting a battery capable of more than 2,500mAh.

– ROM: Last but not least, a smartphone good at gaming needs at least 16 GB internally or the more the better.

So, those are just some tips. In fact, it is not very hard to find phones that meet the demands, yet there are some which do not have all the good things but are still worth considering due to its special features. After searching, we found the following devices. Check them out!

Best gaming smartphones for November:

1. Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge

Thanks to their octa-core Exynos 7420 64-bit chips, 3GB RAM, 32/63/128GB ROM, 5.1-inch AMOLED Quad HD screens, they will completely give you fantastic experience with playing games. However, the only things that seem minuses are their 2,550mAh (S6) and 2,600mAh (S6 edge). Anyhow, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge specs are wonderful enough for you to play all kinds of games on the Play Store.

2. Microsoft Lumia 735

Basically, Microsoft Lumia 735 specs are not outstanding at all but it has SmartGlass app which turns the Lumia 735 into a second screen. It means Xbox gamers can stay connected with their friends or rivals while enjoying Dead Rising 3 and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Also, with Windows 10 OS, Xbox gamers can get some expanded features including Game DVR and streaming controls.

3. LG G4

Some people may not know that LG G4 has two important features for gaming. It is equipped with a high-end Adreno 418 GPU – a graphics processing unit, delivering quality graphics and realistic 3D scenes and effects. That would be awesome for those who like playing battling games. Additionally, the LG G4 specs are super cool with a 5.5-inch 2K IPS Quantum display, which promises all your favorite game apps will virtually move out of the screen in bright and colorful details.

4. HTC One M9

Sound is the thing helping your game become more lively and One M9 can bring you the best sound. HTC One M9 specs boast a dual front-facing speaker with built-in amplifier and Dolby Audio surround sound. Together with HTC BoomSound, M9 gives you a crystal-clear 24-bit high-def audio. Games would never be that fun!

CONCLUSION:

With the above 4 smartphones, you can play games with joy and excitement. Even when you do not pick one of them, you still can base on the tips to make sure that you have already chosen a good handset for playing games.

Nokia Snake game reborn!

When smartphones were created and then have been so popular, we’ve seen a lot of interesting games like Angry Birds, Candy Crush Saga, etc. become famous perhaps thanks to many factors such as characters, display colors, sounds, simple rules, and so. However, before them, there was a much more simple game that ruled the mobile gaming scene. It is the Snake game.

snake-nokia-480

Do you remember it? Did you ever feel addicted to it? Yes, we did. It was such an extremely annoying yet engaging game firstly included on a Nokia 6110 in 1997 and then on all Nokia phones. Talking about its developer, it was Taneli Armanto and he is also the one that has brought the Snake back. Accordingly, the new Snake version is dubbed Snake Rewind and available for Windows Phone, Android and iOS handsets.

“Taneli Armanto and Rumilus Design have joined forces to bring you Snake Rewind! Iconic elements and intuitive gameplay from the original Snake are combined with cool visual effects, sounds and many new features. The result is a game that will entertain, challenge and delight you time after time!” said Rumilus Design.

Some small changes have been applied but Snake Rewind still has the basic blueprint as the original one. We also should note that the graphics of the game is updated and equipped with music and sound effects. Fortunately, you can rewind time once your snake crashes any time. Sounds good?

As usual, Snake Rewind is free but in case of wanting to purchase in-app upgrades or some special items, you have to access to a “fruit store”. For a fuller list of Snake Rewind features, let’s take a look at the following part:

 – Rewind the snake to continue playing after crashing

 – Collect various special kinds of fruit with unique powers and effects

– Include 10 levels with fun and challenges; each level is built with distinct visual and music.

 – Have a fruit store offering boosters and items

– Compete against other players or your friends on Facebook; scores and rankings will be listed on the leaderboards.

– Have a special thing for players if they are able to fill the whole screen with the snake

To recap, we are glad that some “traditional” games for phones like Snake game has a chance to come back. Maybe next year, when Nokia returns to producing mobiles, we will see Snake Rewind on all Nokia smartphones just like the good old days.

Nokia to test pCell offering 50x stronger than 4G LTE

Steve Perlman is Artemis Networks’ founder and CEO, well-known for several innovations in Internet, entertainment, multimedia, communications technologies and so on. Last year, he introduced pCell technology which is a mobile wireless tech allowing “equipped mobile devices within a pCell coverage area to each receive 100% of the available theoretical bandwidth capacity.”

This is more advanced than current mobile wireless data technologies such as 4G LTE which makes the data throughput decrease once more and more devices become active in the coverage area. On the other hand, pCell promises to offer about 50 times the 4G LTE network’s capacity while using the same wireless spectrum. So, we can see that this is such an great idea for a big place like a stadium.

However, when pCell was first announced, many people doubted it but lately, we have been informed that the tech is eventually going to be tested. And of course, its goal is still to increase wireless connectivity speed. Nonetheless, one special thing we have to tell you is that Artemis Networks will do the test with Nokia, starting next year, 2016, also the year which will see Nokia’s comeback.

Nokia Network

Specifically, according to this new agreement, Nokia and Artemis will be working in conjunction with some wireless carriers to examine pCell in places like stadiums (as we mentioned above) since they will have a huge number of mobile devices needing a great amount of wireless network. In addition, it will work on existing Apple and Android smartphones.

“I have seen the demo … in a very controlled environment, but it seems to work,” said Hossein Moiin, Nokia Networks’ chief technology officer, in an interview. “What we’re doing next is demonstrating that it does work. I’m not 100 percent sold, but I’m a believer.”

Also, Nokia will connect pCell to the networking equipment that they propose and they have to make sure calls will not be dropped if the caller moves from a 4G LTE network into the stadium equipped with the pCell. At first, we have to admit we thought the concept of pCell is too good to be true. Yet, after knowing that Nokia is joining the game, we believe some positive results will be seen. Then, Nokia will even be backing the Artemis’s finance to develop the tech more and integrate it into current systems.

In the end, all of this somewhat shows Nokia is so ready for a big year!

Xiaomi Mi4c vs OnePlus X: Mid-rangers Battle

OnePlus and Xiaomi are two of the most well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturers. However, if Xiaomi has various kinds of phones for many kinds of consumers, OnePlus seems to be sort of limited in products. So far they have just had OnePlus One and OnePlus Two as premium machines and OnePlus X as the only and newest budget one. Nonetheless, it is a pretty good handset and can beat many others in its type. Well, let’s see if the X can do that in the following battle:

Xiaomi Mi4c vs OnePlus X

xiaomi mi4c vs oneplus x

Xiaomi Mi4c Specs OnePlus X Specs
Dimensions 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8 mm 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm

Color White, grey, pink, yellow, blue Onyx, Ceramic
SIM Dual SIM Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)
Price $204 (about RM896) for 16GB ROM + 2GB RAM$235 (about RM1,032) for 32GB ROM + 3GB RAM  $249 (RM1,070)

Firstly, we see that the X is thinner than Mi4c but a bit heavier and it is also not very colorful due to owning just 2 color options: Onyx and Ceramic. But, if you do not feel that is a problem, we think OP X looks more premium and beautiful thanks to the metal frame placed between glasses on the front and the back, which somewhat reminds us of Samsung Galaxy S6 design and Sony Xperia Z series one as well. Meanwhile, Xiaomi Mi4c design is not very different from its sibling Xiaomi Mi4i when sporting a plastic cover. Actually, in our opinion, it is actually cuter but not cooler than the X. Agree?

Secondly, in terms of specifications, there are some differences we should note. Obviously it is the chip. They both use Qualcomm Snapdragon ones but Xiaomi Mi4c boasts the SD808 and OnePlus X the SD801. Here, the 808 is stronger than the 801 as you can see in the picture below:

Snapdragon808-1-640x336

Then, Mi4c sports a bigger battery (3,080mAh vs 2,525mAh). Therefore, the Xiaomi appears to have more advantages now. However, OP X has the expandable internal storage, which means that you can store a lot of things. Besides, it features an up to 8MP front-facing camera which is an ideal one for selfie lovers.

Finally, we would like to consider the prices. In general, Xiaomi Mi4c price (3GB RAM ver) is similar to OnePlus X price. Then, we cannot tell which one is greater in terms of price. So, you have to base on your needs to pick out the winner for yourself 😉 . If you like taking gorgeous selfies and huge ROM for stuff, just relax and go with the X. On the contrary, you want a powerful smartphone with a pastel color, it has to be the Xiaomi Mi4c. Very simple, right?!

In conclusion, we are glad that more and more good phones like Xiaomi Mi4c and OnePlus X are produced nowadays. We totally can get a budget one but it can do a lot of things for our work, study, entertainment, etc. No matter what you choose, we bet that you will have a fantastic device to use all day lone 🙂 .

Huawei Mate 8 to feature Kirin 950 chip – more powerful than Galaxy S7

As we know, Huawei has been developing a new chip called HiSilicon Kirin 950, which is said to be powerful with the latest benchmark score exceeding the score of Exynos 7420 of Samsung and even Snapdragon 820. And important news is that Huawei is going to release this processor on 5 November, 2015 along with a flagship smartphone. We guess it can also be the strongest device on the market this month.

Kirin 950

– Single-core test: 1,909 points

– Multi-core test: 6,096 points

Exynos 7420

– Single-core test: 1,486 points

– Multi-core test: 4,970 points

On the other hand, recently, we have seen a teaser by the company.

We think that the 5 November event is just for the chip itself and the handset has to wait until 26 November 2015. You would wonder what it is, right?! From the teaser, we immediately figure out that it has to be Huawei Mate 8, the successor to Huawei Mate 7, not Huawei Mate S as many people thought.

This time, Huawei Mate 8 specs will include the gorgeous Kirin 950 chipset and according to Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong, a speaker at the Huawei Watch launch event for Vogue in Shanghai, it would be the Huawei equivalent of the iPhone 6S Plus. That is so promising!

Apart from that, Yu added the Huawei Mate 8 launch together with Huawei Mate S were expected to exceed their 100 million units sold goal for the 2016 fiscal year. This announcement seems to be drawing a lot of people’s attention though we do not know more about detailed Huawei Mate 8 specs as well price. But, it is predicted that the Huawei Mate 8 price will range from $400 to $550 (RM1,720 to RM2,370). In addition, Richard Yu claimed that he has been using the Mate 8 for the past few weeks and he was sure its camera and display would become the main selling points of the device.

To recap, Huawei is leading the smartphone market in China and they may also want to be in the top of the world, too. With the Kirin 950 and Huawwei Mate 8, it is probably they will be able to do it. Just wait a bit more!
