Xiaomi’s conference on Oct 19: Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 or Xiaomi Mi5 will see the light?
Not long ago, Xiaomi company announced that there would be a new conference held on October 19, 2015, and the “next generation” of a new product would be released as well…
However, there is no confirmation or information related to the new products. Most people hope and believe it is the flagship Xiaomi Mi5 while others think it is the Xiaomi’s Windows 10 Tablet Mi Pad 2, which has been rumored for weeks.
Previously, Xiaomi was reported to be preparing for the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 launch on September, quite at the same time as Xiaomi Mi4c launch. But, that did not happen. As a result, it is not strange at all if the one Xiaomi wants to introduce on October 19 is the tablet Mi Pad 2 (which was seen in the Chinese 3C Quality Certification Center with the model number 2015716). Rumor has it that Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 specs include a 14-nm Intel processor, providing enough power to run Windows 10), 4GB RAM and a 13MP rear camera. The display is said to measure 10 inches plus Quad HD resolution.
On the other hand, there is another possibility that Xiaomi Mi5 will see the light on October 19. In August, we were informed the Xiaomi Mi5 specs got 73,075 Antutu points. Pretty impressive! This can be understood easily because many sources claimed Xiaomi Mi5 would boast the coming powerful Snapdragon 820 or MediaTek Helio X20 chip. If Mi5 debuts this month, we guess it has to be the Helio X20 as it is until early 2016 that Qualcomm will push out the Snapdragon 820 to OEMs.
For other Xiaomi Mi5 specs, it is still anticipated to come with a 5.3-inch Quad HD display, 4GB RAM paired with 16GB or 64GB of internal storage. Its camera combo consists of a 16MP shooter with LED flash and OIS support. In addition, a 3,030mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor will also be on-board.
In terms of Xiaomi Mi5 price, the device will cost 1.999 CNY (about RM1,320 or 316 USD). Actually, this seems not very expensive for a smartphone like Xiaomi Mi5, right?!
In conclusion, we should wait a bit more to see what will happen on October 19, 2015. Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 or Xiaomi Mi5? We’ll update you later!
OPPO R7s with 3GB and 4GB RAM versions to come on October 18
OPPO R7s was leaked last month with a beautiful design and a good package of specs, including a big battery and going to be launched soon. Moreover, recently, we received news informing that OPPO R7s will have 2 variants for the RAM capacity: 3GB and 4GB RAM…
OPPO has announced that the OPPO R7’s successor will be introduced at the technology fair GITEX at Dubai from October 18 to 22, 2015, which is just a few days left from now.
“The R7s will offer consumers a bigger battery, a larger screen and double the storage space of the R7, all the while boasting the full-metal unibody and stellar photo-taking capabilities of its predecessor,” said OPPO in a press release.
According to information leaked on the internet before, OPPO R7s specs sport a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 615 1.5GHz chip and 3GB RAM plus 32GB of expandable storage. As for the camera, we have a combo of 13MP rear and 8MP front snapper. The whole machine will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, but we expect there will be an update and OPPO R7s can receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Specially, we heard that OPPO R7s battery is larger than the OPPO R7 one.
Anyhow, OPPO has not confirmed anything for the specs yet. However, one thing we may be sure about is that the R7s is likely to be offered in a 4GB RAM variant. That will bring consumer more choices!
In terms of OPPO R7s price and availability, there is no officially word made for them. Maybe the 3GB RAM ver is priced at the same level as OPPO R7. Meanwhile, the 4GB RAM phone will definitely be more expensive, say, around RM1,900 for the OPPO R7s price in Malaysia.
So, keep waiting till October 18 😉 !

Huawei testing 5G connectivity: reaching the speed of 4G LTE x 200
I bet many of us are still 4G LTE a very strong feature in smartphones these days. Although 4G LTE smartphones still do the trick, there is a hint that 5G connectivity is already on its way.
Huawei + NTT DOCOMO is testing 5G connectivity
Right now in Japan, NTT DOCOMO (a leading mobile phone operator in Japan) is working with Huawei Mobiles to test 5G wireles date. Of course it is aimed for the fast growing smartphone market. The 5G connectivity will be using sub 6GHz bands. Since we know how powerful 4G LTE is, the idea of an updated 5G itself is amazing enough to overwhelm us.
Recent reports have suggested that, the two companies are testing the 5G in a public place, which makes it much more effective than being done inside a lab. From what we heard for now, after many trials, the 5G technology from Huawei and NTT DOCOMO has reached the peaks of 3.6 Gbps.
Is 5G connectivity fast?
Am I making it too technical? Don’t worry, here is the clearer comparison. Open Signal’s data provided that, the average of the best 4G LTE speeds (measured in Spain) is 18 Mbps. This means the 5G connectivity speed measured in Japan is about 200 times faster than our current best networks!
Do you more more examples to be convinced how awesome it is if we have 5G connectivity? From what we know, one of the best options we have right now for home internet (which is NOT wireless) is Google Fiber. And it reaches the average speed of 1 Gbps. Now you can do the calculator! 5G connectivity = 3.6 x Google Fiber + wireless. The future feels so bright now already.

Leaked ZTE Nubia X8 specs: 5.5″ 2K screen, 4GB RAM and more than 5,000mAh battery
Back to June when we first heard about the new ZTE phone – ZTE Nubia X8, it took nearly 4 months for the company to confirm the ZTE Nubia X8 launch as well as reveal some interesting photos of the beautiful ZTE Nubia X8 design…
ZTE Nubia X8 teaser
Recently, ZTE manufacturer has posted an ad of a smartphone on their Weibo page, showing the device would come with extremely thin borders and a curved screen. Besides, we notice there is an “X” placed below the phone in the teaser, which absolutely hints that it is the ZTE Nubia X8 we saw months ago. In addition, ZTE Nubia X8 release date has been fixed this time, October 15, 2015 to be exactly. Therefore, we do not have to guess anymore 😀 .
And as we mentioned above, some live photos of ZTE Nubia X8 were also leaked on the internet. We reckon that is a version with gold color and premium metal frame. If we had not known it were Nubia X8, we would thought it were Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. Don’t you think they are quite similar in terms of look?
More interestingly, there are possible touch-sensitive volume control buttons. If so, ZTE Nubia X8 is the first phone to have such a cool feature. On the other hand, ZTE Nubia X8 specs include a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD resolution, powerful 4GB RAM and a huge 5,120mAh battery. However, ZTE has not confirmed the information yet, but, say, we just have to wait a few days to get the curtain unveiled, especially the ZTE Nubia price 😉 !
Well, what do you think about the coming ZTE Nubia X8? Beautiful? Share with us your feeling!

Samsung Galaxy S7 specs will come with three different chips!
Lately, a piece of information has mentioned that Samsung is very optimistic about the future of the new Exynos 8890 chipset with Mongoose CPU. It will give high productivity and be used for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7. However, another source has informed that Samsung Galaxy S7 will not only be run by the Exynos 8890; there are up to 3 variants with 3 different processors…
Samsung Galaxy S7 specs will come with three different chips!
Yes, it is said that Samsung company will probably offer 3 versions of Samsung Galaxy S7 perhaps in order to satisfy more types of consumers. Moreover, Samsung has planned to add the Exynos 7422 chip into Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs for Indian market, and Exynos 8890 (as known as Exynos M1 achieving some super impressive scores in benchmark testing) for Korean, Japanese and European ones. Meanwhile, the well-known Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (shipping with the high-end Adreno 530) will also appear in another ver for American and Chinese markets.
If everything turns out to be true, it can be the first time Samsung releases a flagship with 3 different chips. Yet, we wonder if that is a wise strategy or not when they do something unusual.
We are not sure whether Samsung Galaxy S7 launch date will happen in early 2016 and reach consumers by the end of the Quarter 1, 2016. Though, in the end, no matter how hard the company is trying to introduce their device as soon as possible, it has to take some more months until the phone is completed. And things can change!
Well, what do you think about the above idea? And which one would you like to choose? Share with us your opinions 😉 !
Beautiful iPhone 6S clones from Chinese manufacturers
When we are busy arguing why iPhone 6S can sell that much, and whether the device is really worth its money, back in China, many smartphone producers are introducing beautiful clones of the iPhone 6S (or its brother iPhone 6). It does not imply that these Chinese smartphones copy from Apple. But a little “inspiration” is what it takes them to get there.
Umi Zero 2
Recently introduced to the market, Umi Zero 2 looks like a hybrid of 3 most popular flagships: iPhone 6S + LG G4 + Samsung Galaxy S6. To be specific, the device has round edges and like those of Galaxy S6. Meanwhile, the Umi Zero 2 sports a leather back cover inspired by LG G4 and has elegant borders like iPhone 6S.
Although for now, we don’t have much information about Umi Zero 2 specs yet, the company hints very promising features for their flagship. The Umi Zero 2 is very possibly a camera-centric handset with strong RAM and hopefully big battery in board.
HTC A9
Spotted recently on the internet, HTC A9 is said to look pretty much like the famous iPhone 6S, except for the home button in replacement for iPhone fingerprint sensor.
HTC A9 specs include: 5” display with super AMOLED, 2GB RAM, 13MP camera and powerful quad-core. HTC A9 release date is set for H2 2016. And with these specs, we expect HTC A9 price in Malaysia will not be more than RM 1000.
DOOV L5 Pro
Doov is not a very well known smartphone producer. However, they just introduced their latest product, an iPhone 6S – inspired smartphone: DOOV L5 Pro.
The whole machine looks, according to many users, 80% similar to iPhone 6. It even features the signature Force Touch from Apple smartphone. The only difference we can find here is that, DOOV L5 Pro is even thinner than the original version: only 6.5mm but stores a battery of 2500 mAH. In comparison, iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm in thickness but only features a sub 2000 mAH battery.
Closing note
There are not one, but so many reasons why we love and would prefer Chinese smartphones than iPhone devices or other big brands. These beautiful iPhone 6S clones also add in to those reasons. Go on Chinese producers, keep giving us attractive devices with irresistible prices and you won’t need to worry about the number of items sold!
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 was tested and got unbelievable results!
The processor that is considered as the most powerful now is Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. It is in the works but the day we can see it is not so far from now. “Interestingly”, we were just informed of its benchmark score and guess what, it was able to get…
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 was tested and got unbelievable results!
As what we have heard and expected so far, in the coming months, the first smartphones powered by Snapdragon 820 chip will be officially introduced. As a result, the producer Qualcomm is also hurriedly finishing the preparation process.
In some recent reports, the new Snapdragon chipset has shown it was very powerful, but it seems like SD 820 failed to do the same on Geekbench. Specifically, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 was just able to score 1,887 points in the single-core test. In spite of winning the Exynos 7420 (gaining 1,508 points) running the flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 5, it is still too low when compared with 2,526 points of the Apple A9 chip.
Furthermore, in the multi-core test, Snapdragon 820 only got 3,936 points, much lower than the Exynos 7420’s 4,811 points and Apple A9’s 4,396 points. What made us even more disappointed is that such a new processor could not be as strong as its predecessor – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 with 4,628 points.
If the results do not change, Xiaomi Mi5 using Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 would face many difficulties!
Well, that is so surprising since we always anticipated the latest will much better than the older one. Yet, in this case, what can we say? Hopefully, they were only bad results for the testing process and the official final version will show its true power. It’d better happen like that or Qualcomm would see big failure this time, and not only the company but also the smartphones using SD820 such as Xiaomi Mi5, LeTV Max 2, Samsung Galaxy S7, etc. would face many difficulties. Let’s wait and see!
Nokia comeback is set in 2016, but did you know about these 5 facts?
It has been a while since we had sight of the last Nokia phones. The legendary giant has disappeared for a long time, being missed by so many users around the world. However, it has been confirmed that Nokia come back is set to happen in 2016 – which is just several months ahead from now.
As the big day is approaching closer and closer, rumors started to flow intensively. Personally, I feel that it is quite easy to get confused by so many different sources of news surrounding us. And that motivated me to come up with this articles. I want to share with you the following main points about the Nokia come back historic event. Here are (mostly) all you need to know about such day!
1. Nokia’s contract with Microsoft ends
In 2011, Nokia and Microsoft signed a contract, marking the start of their partnership. According to the contract, Nokia only featured smartphones that ran on Windows OS and emphasized on their premium camera quality.
In 2013, Nokia agreed not to use its name on smartphones and will not produce any mobile devices under the Nokia name till December 31st, 2015. (Source: Wikipedia)
2. Nokia buys Alcatel
In preparation for the crucial Nokia comeback, the Giant proposed to buy Alcatel and got approved by European regulators. However, Alcatel (full name: Alcatel-Lucent) is not a smartphone producer. It is actually a French global telecommunications equipment company, headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. Being a monster in the tech industry, Alcatel is believed to help provide the best technology for upcoming Nokia smartphones.
3. Nokia seeking for talents
Since 2013, Nokia became a department under the control of Microsoft. This means, they were no longer an independent company. As a result, mostly all of Nokia employees back then came to work for Microsoft. In order to have a well-prepared Nokia come back, the Finnish Legend are extensively looking for new talents to join their promising business.
4. Nokia to rebuild best-selling phones in the past?
Recently on PricePony, I featured the best-selling ever Nokia 1100. This was not a non-purposed topic. In fact, rumors have it said that, on their come back, Nokia is planning to bring back some good old phones of their past business. Of course this time, they will make it “smart” to catch up with the fast-growing market we have now.
5. Nokia to feature Android-powered smartphone
We all know how much users these days love Android-powered smartphones. And by knowing about the Nokia come back, I have heard it over and over again that our readers would love the first Nokia smartphone in 2016 to run on Android. Here is the good news: Nokia seems to actually plan the same thing.
I bet you still remember the Android Nokia C1 smartphone we spotted several months earlier? Yes, that is the best message Nokia come back can hint for us. Keep hoping, we may actually have a Nokia Android smartphone soon.
First BlackBerry Android phone – BlackBerry Priv price revealed in China
Besides being the very first BlackBerry smartphones running on Android Operating System, BlackBerry Priv is also known for its unique design. The phone has 2 curved bezels and a full QWERTY physical keyboard able to slide out when you need. Furthermore, the keyboard also doubles as a touchpad which was firstly introduced in BlackBerry Passport.
What we have received so far is the information about BlackBerry Priv price which was leaked in China not long ago. Accordingly, the Priv will cost 3,999 Yuan, equivalent to $630 or RM2,625 as the BlackBerry Priv Price in Malaysia. Obviously, this cannot be called an affordable device; it will mainly aim at those who want to purchase a high-end machine.
As we mentioned above, BB Priv looks really special when sporting the Android interface, but other BlackBerry Priv specs are also impressive. They include a Quad HD 5.4-inch screen, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 1.8GHz chipset and 3GB RAM. As for the camera, there is a combo of a 5 megapixel front and an 18 megapixel rear snapper with Schneider-Kreuznach lens, autofocus function and ability to record 4K videos. In addition, the handset’s internal storage is capable of 32GB. For a fuller view of the BB Priv Specs, check out the table below:
| BlackBerry Priv Specs | |

So, BB Priv seems to be the latest BlackBerry product in the spotlight at the moment, and we are excited to share with you many Priv’s live photos having been seen on the internet recently. Though we have not been informed whether BB will released other color variants for the Priv or not, the black version is premium and beautiful enough for now 😉 !
In terms of availability, it is said that the device will go on sale in the Q1 of 2016. Anyhow, BB has still not confirmed that as well as the official BlackBerry Priv release date. Therefore, we need to wait a bit more. Once the detail is out, we will update immediately! So, stay tuned 😀 !
Xiaomi Success: Here are the 5 REASONS why Xiaomi can be so successful!
Xiaomi Success Story!
Whenever we mention Chinese smartphones, what we think of in the first seconds is Xiaomi. Moreover, it is now the world’s 4th largest smartphone maker and loved by a lot of people. So, how can this just-5-year-old company (founded in April, 2010) be so successful like that? Let’s check out the following reasons and you may even odd one(s) out or add more at the end of the post 😉 !
“XiaoMi has also managed to harness the power of social media by not only broadcasting their messages and announcements but by actively engaging with their customers. Engineers are routinely encouraged to speak directly to consumers and use gathered feedback to refine software.”
1. Price – Apple cannot be “compared” with it!
That’s true! Apple iPhone prices cannot be “compared” with Xiaomi smartphones. We can easily see most Xiaomi products in general and phones in particular are have pretty affordable price tags. Also, they sells online for most of the time. As a result, the costs of sales, overheads as well as other things related to distributors or retailers are reduced significantly.
However, we should remember that selling phones at the prices near their actual ones cannot last forever, and Xiaomi has also realized that. In fact, Xiaomi was inspired by the Amazon’s model which is only covering the cost of the devices but making money from selling the content. Therefore, at the moment, we can purchase many Xiaomi handsets without worrying too much about the payment since they are very budget-friendly.
2. Specifications – Not cheap at all in the inside!
Well, Xiaomi phones may be cheap, at least much cheaper than Apple’s or Samsung’s machines, but they are not “cheap” at all in terms of specifications. Xiaomi seems to be quite ambitious when wanting to compete with others not only on price but also on specs. However, somehow they made it. Their smartphones usually have high quality screens and reasonable batteries. Besides, the company has developed their own OS called MIUI based on Android, then the products can sport both new interesting features found on an Android machine and special ones made for Xiaomi devices only.
In the end, Xiaomi’s key strategy is to produce good quality handsets at a lower price range, which has been helping them to stay firmly on the mobile map so far.
3. Market – China first!
Of course once a firm is getting bigger and bigger in terms of size and reputation, they would want to expand the business globally. Xiaomi is not an exception. They have opened some online stores in some Asian countries as well as in other continents such as Europe and America. Though, the manufacturers is said to still keep focused on Chinese market with 97% of the local shipments. Furthermore, Xiaomi is not likely to rush into markets where Apple and Samsung are the dominant.
4. Promotion – They solved this question quite successfully!
So, this is kind of an important decisive point in most companies’ success. Nonetheless, Xiaomi started with flash style sales with very little or no advertising. A lot of units were sold quickly and discussed on most over China’s vibrant social media. Then, people talked to each other and it went on and on. Obviously, Xiaomi will not give up such an effective marketing channel.
On the other hand, Xiaomi knows how to get close to customers. Their engineers are encouraged to speak directly to consumers, gather and use the feedback to improve the software. Maybe that is also the reason why Xiaomi has many dedicated fans nowadays.
5. Design – Developing in their own way!
We cannot deny that Xiaomi design often reminds us of Apple at first. Nevertheless, as time passes by, the phones look more beautiful, premium and special in their own way. Xiaom is also planning for the birth of an all-alloy machine which is promising to mark a new successful chapter of Xiaomi as for the design. Let’s wait and see!
Conclusion
Xiaomi is a big name in the Chinese and international smartphone industry. Their new product usually draws much people’s attention thanks to its good price and specs. Despite still being young on the market, Xiaomi is able to be listed in consumers’ top options. Good job, Xiaomi! Hope that they will develop more in the future 🙂 !
