Meizu MX6 Review: An iPhone-experience for Android Users
The MX6, released recently on 30 July is the latest smartphone from Meizu, a very well-liked company in China. Today, we will give a quick Meizu MX6 review for all of you!
Meizu MX6 review: The highlights
First of all, the performance of Meizu MX6 is awesome! This is because it comes equipped with the whopping deca-core (ten!!!) Mediatek MT6797 Helio X20 processor, accompanied by 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. This means that Meizu MX6 can do almost anything you throw at it, like playing visual-heavy games. Just this fact alone makes it worth the buy in this Meizu MX6 review.
Another strong point of this phone is camera. This is the very first smartphone in the world equipped with the camera sensor IMX86 from Sony. Coupled with 12MP camera at the back, it is truly a powerhouse in terms of photography. The front camera is 5MP, also very decent for selfies. A large screen pf 5.5-inch full HD display is also great for fliming and photography. For this Meizu MX6 review, we think the camera is the biggest selling point of this phone.
Last but not least, the design of this phone is also very sleek, almost perfect. As stated before, this phone is inspired by the Apple iPhone a lot, and we can see very clearly (some may call it “copy”, but we’ll save that for another day). However, Meizu has put in their own touch as well: the camera, besides being powerful, is put at the middle of the back side. This means the chances of users accidentally cover a part of the photo with their dangling fingers is now greatly reduced. The outer shell also looks very elegant. Software wise, it sports Flyme 5.2 OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so UI will be really good.
Meizu MX6 review: The drawbacks
We said that the design is “almost” perfect. That means, like any other phones, there are imperfection with Meizu MX6 as well. The one design drawback we want to talk about is the decision to leave out the ‘back’ and ‘recent apps’ button. Instead, you just touch slightly for 2 or 3 times on the home button to perform those functions. It may not be that big of a deal to some people, but it can certainly turn off some of us, and it needs getting used to. Still, a small drawback in this Meizu MX6 review does not invalidate the fact that this is still a very good phone, and it’s available for only RM 1200 (about $300).
Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6: 4GB RAM, 32GB ROM and 10 cores!
Both Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6 have just been revealed lately and they have some features in common. As a result, we find it interesting to make a comparison between those two Meizu phones! Let’s go!
Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6: Specs fight!
First of all, let’s take about the similarities between Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6! They both come with a nice RAM of 4GB, which drives the system really smoothly hence offering great performance! Both these Meizu phones also support a nice internal storage of 32GB. This space is enough for common lovers. One more similarity between Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6 is that they sport the Helio chipset from MediaTek as well as 10-core processor!
Now let’s move on to the difference between Meizu MX6 specs and Meizu Pro 6 specs. Despite packing the same Helio chipset, these phones have different clock speed. While Meizu MX6 comes with Helio X20 2.3GHz, Meizu Pro 6 arrives with Helio X25 2.4GHz. Moreover, Meizu Pro 6 is available at both the 32GB version and the 64GB version. Meanwhile, we will only find a 32GB version of Meizu Mx6. So in term of performance, Meizu Pro 6 is the winner!
For photography, Meizu Pro 6, again, is the winner thanks to its 21MP camera on the back. On the other hand, the front snapper of Meizu MX6 is clocked at 12MP resolution! However, Meizu MX6 houses a larger screen: 5.5-inch full HD, while Meizu Pro 6 screen measures only 5.2-inch. Furthermore, Meizu MX6 is more powerful with a 3000mAh battery. Meanwhile, the battery of Meizu Pro 6 is only 2560mAh. So at this point, there’s no clear winner in the battle between Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6 yet!
Meizu MX6 vs Meizu Pro 6: Price comparison
Meizu Pro 6 price for the 32GB version is expected to be around RM 1800. Meanwhile, Meizu MX6 price is quite lower: RM 1700. So again, the winner is not obvious! But in my opinion, Meizu MX6 will be a better choice because 12MP is already enough for smartphone photography. Meizu MX6 and Meizu Pro 6 release date is expected to be in August!
Meizu MX6 specs: 4GB RAM, 21MP, Helio X20 and 4,000 mAH

Meizu MX6 appeared on Antutu with detailed specs
So, we guess it is official now when Meizu has just sent out invites to their Meizu MX6 launch, planned to occur in the Q1 of 2016. Yes, it is a successor to the flagship Huawei MX5, released in July 2015, and receiving much expectation to compete well with other big companies such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, etc. Design-wise, the handset will be likely to come with a super premium appearance, using metal and glass and slim bezels.
Spec-wise, recently, this Meizu’s product has been spotted on AnTuTu benchmark, revealing some details of Meizu MX6 specs. Speaking specifically, there will be a MediaTek Helio X20 10-core processor paired with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, a Full HD screen (however, we have no idea how big it is), and two choices over RAM and ROM capacity: 4GB + 64GB and 3GB + 32GB. Besides, the whole machine will be run by a huge 4,000mAh battery and FlymeUI based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
In terms of camera, the main shooter will be capable of 20.7 megapixels, and the secondary one is also awesome with 8 megapixels. Well, it is easy to recognize that Meizu MX6 sports a lot of top features and no doubt it is an excellent rival to those going to debut in early 2016 like Samsung Galaxy S7, Xiaomi Mi5, etc.

Yes, it’s been a long time since Meizu released a new smartphone, but now we’d better be preparing for their next flagship called Meizu MX6. Obviously, it is the successor to Meizu MX5, launched in July 2015, and will be equipped with a gorgeous design and more advanced features. Though, at the moment, there has been no leaked image showing the handset, so we cannot tell you anything about its appearance, except for the hardware.
Spec-wise, as purported by AnTuTu, Meizu MX6 specs are likely to include the super strong MediaTek Helio X20 10-core 3-cluster (2x Cortex-A72 at 2.5GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 at 2.0GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 at 1.4GHz) chip, Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, and 3GB of RAM. Flagship Meizu MX6 price and availability

Yet, as it has appeared on the internet, we predict Meizu MX6 release date will be sooner, say, perhaps in the second quarter of 2016. And Meizu MX6 price will be likely to range from $280 to $320. If so, do you think it is a reasonable cost?
