Sony Xperia Z5 series to save more energy with improved Stamina Mode in Andorid 6.0

Today, smartphones can do a lot of things, more than what we usually dreamed of. But, it is easily to see that there is one problem which prevents them to help us 24/7. Can you guess?

Yes, it is the problem of power: BATTERY. No matter how huge it is, your phone will always run out of energy and then you have to charge them for some hours. One thing we are worrying about now is that when Android Marshmallow officially arrives, your handset is going to get worse in terms of battery life. Related to this issue, lately we have spotted a strong claim from Sony on Twitter:

tweet

So, what is Stamia Mode and why is it so… magical?

Stamina Mode is a specific feature basically deactivating data during the time the screen is off. In other words, it does not allow apps to sync or check notifications. Besides, it also blocks data transmission that is likely to turn the screen on. Though, incoming phone calls, SMS and MMS will still come through along with alarms, calendar notifications, and LED when needed (specifically when the device wants to warn you about low battery). That is how Stamina Mode can help save energy 🙂 !

However, in fact, users normally do not like to turn Stamina Mode on all day long but it will become a “life saver” when the cell percentage is too low and you do not bring the charger with you and still have lots of things to do. As for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it has a new feature called Doze, which thoroughly tracks app usage without taking a break. So, we guess Stamina Mode would be very useful in such cases.

Back to the post, Sony announced that Sony Xperia Z5 series (consisting of Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium) would even have improved Stamina Mode in Android 6.0 OS to make the battery live longer (yeah, but we’re not sure about the “champion” part 😀 ). We hope they can do it this time since previously, when Sony Xperia Z5 launch just happened, the manufacturer also said that all the three Sony Xperia Z5 models would be able to reach two-day battery life. Nonetheless, many reviews have been spotted mentioning not all of them can do it.

In the end, Sony must have their own secret weapon once releasing such a firm claim. Let’s wait and see!

Nokia McLaren hands-on: 50MP Pureview Zeiss looking great!

Nokia McLaren is a beautiful smartphone concept proposed by Nokia that we introduced earlier on Pricepony. It was meant to be the successor of Lumia 1020, when Nokia and Microsoft were working together under a contract. What special about this Nokia McLaren and makes it distinctive from other smartphone concepts is that, Nokia McLaren had almost reached mass production when Microsoft turned it down!

Nokia McLaren hands-on

Since the Nokia McLaren had made it so close to mass production, we can actually see pictures of the real machine. This is also what many smartphone producers do: first they have the smartphone concept, then proceed the design render, then they work on to propose how the smartphone looks in real machine before having it manufactured and launched.

The pictures we found feature a Nokia McLaren laying next to an iPhone, allegedly iPhone 6S. I guess the author of these pics intended to make some comparison of the two devices: McLaren from world-popular Nokia and iPhone 6 from controversial Apple!

Nokia McLaren

Nokia McLaren hands-on: what it really looks like!

As you can see in the picture, the first thing to catch our attention is Nokia McLaren big, rounded, protrusive camera module. Such camera has been so successful it is recognized by almost every user as a signature of a Nokia-Lumia smartphone. The whole handset looks classy and elegant in full metal body (seems like) and greyish color. Absolutely contrast to the iPhone next by, Nokia McLaren features squared corners and edges.

Nokia McLaren – successor of Lumia 1020?

If you remember the Lumia 1020, you may recognize why this Nokia McLaren is supposed to be the successor of that Lumia 1020, clearly from the design. The Lumia 1020 looks very similar in shape, with identical camera module, but in Lumia’s signature bright yellow color. Hmm, to be very fair, many many users all around the world used to (and are still) big fans of this design, don’t you agree with me?

Nokia McLarenAlthough the Nokia McLaren had been cancelled by Microsoft, I personally, and many Nokia fans are hoping this concept, once made by the company, will be brought to real life also by them in their Nokia 2016 comeback (which is confirmed by the company)! I am excited to know how awesome those pictures taken by 50MP camera can be!

5 Smartphones with the most display density in November

Pixels per inch (PPI) is a measurement of the resolution of an electronic image device such as a smartphone display. So, if the PPI of this phone is higher the PPI of that phone, this will have a more beautiful display than that.

smartphone-ppi

Then, there is a simple rule. If you want to have a handset showing you gorgeous images, you should choose the one that has a good number of PPI. Here we’ve got some suggestions for you 😉 :

5 Smartphones with the most display density in November

1. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium (801 ppi)

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is probably the most outstanding smartphone in the Sony house due to its 4K (2160 x 3840 pixels) screen. It measures 5.5 inches and owns up to 801 ppi. And we must say that this is a incredibly big number for a commercial smartphone. Though, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium only shows information like pictures or videos with 4K resolution while you just can experience the rest of the phone with Full HD (1080p) one. Sony explained that their “strategy” would help the device save more energy yet still satisfy users at the same time.

2. Samsung Galaxy S6 (577 ppi)

Before the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium launch, Samsung Galaxy S6 was the champion thanks to its 577 ppi. Specifically, it is equipped with a Quad HD display which is becoming a popular trend of the high-end phone category nowadays and the screen size is small (5.1 inches). As a result, Samsung Galaxy S6 can have 577 ppi and was obviously the winner of the PPI battle at its time.

3. HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera edition (565 ppi)

While HTC One M9 just boasts 441 ppi, its variant HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera edition is able to get 565 ppi, a bit lower than Samsung Galaxy S6 since HTC One M9 Plus specs has a larger screen. Besides, it’s got a very impressive rear camera capable of up to 21MP with OIS and laser autofocus. We imagine if you take photos by this awesome shooter and view them on the HTC One M9+ display,… WOW!

4. Fujitsu Arrows NX F-04G (565 ppi)

We consider this is the strangest name in the list. In fact, Arrows is only available in Japan. Apart from the high ppi, it is also the first commercial machine coming along with an iris scanner, which enables it to draw a lot of people’s attraction.

5. Microsoft Lumia 950 (565ppi)

After staying away from the high-end smartphone range for a long time, Microsoft has had a big comeback with Microsoft Lumia 950 owning 565 ppi on a 5.1-inch Quad HD screen. It is one of the first two Windows 10 handsets (the other is Microsoft Lumia 950XL) when going on sale.
Well, those are the 5 remarkable smartphones with the most display density in November we want to introduce to you 🙂 ! Do you one to add more? If yes, what is it?

Samsung Exynos 8890 for Galaxy S7 official, mass production in December

Previously, we got to know that, Samsung Galaxy S7 – the successor of Galaxy S6 is going to be launched in January 2016 with a brand new chipset from the company. Very recently, our reliable sources are suggesting that, back in South Korea, Samsung is preparing to mass producing the Exynos 8890 chipset for the Galaxy S7. If nothing changes, we will have the chip ready in December 2015.

Exynos 8890 chipset – promising a December launchExynos 8890

If you have been following us for a while, I bet you can tell by now what is special about the Exynos 8890 chip set. With the codename M1 or Mongoose, the Exynos 8890 is by far the Benchmark winner among all chip sets Samsung have used for their devices.

To gain that title, the Exynos 8890, clocked at 2.3 GHz, has scored almost 7,000 points in the multi-threaded Geekbench test, and 2294 on the single-core one. This Exynos 8890 Benchmark result is by far the highest mobile score we’ve ever seen and may be the highest for a very long wise until beaten by a new monster! Who knows, that could be anything, Kirn from Huawei, Snapdragon from Qualcomm. With the crazy developing space our smartphone industry has, literally anything can and will happen!

Exciting, don’t you think? If the chip set turns out exactly what we know by now (or better, yes!), it would make the Samsung Galaxy S7 a very compelling device (when goes with reasonable price). Since many of us users nowadays know pretty well about smartphone and do care a lot about their specs.

Exynos 8890

Exynos 8890 – making Samsung more powerful?

Despite mixed comments, Samsung is still one of the leading smartphone OEMs nowadays. Every of their devices comes with a convincing selling point. Do you still remember the Galaxy S6 Edge with the first curved display, or the Galaxy Note 5 with 5 spec records, one of which is best display EVER. Is it what they are planning for the upcoming flagship, Galaxy S7 with the strongest chip set ever made? If so, I would love to pay a bit more to have one for myself also.

In fact, it is said that, the Galaxy S7 is most likely to out with 3 different chipset variants, targeted for different markets. One of them is definitely the Exynos 8890, one is the expected Snapdragon 820, and the other could be Exynos 7422, also Samsung-made.

Vivo Xplay 5S: 4K display, full metal and premium Snapdragon 820

Vivo is that one Chinese smartphone producer that has introduced very high-quality devices that carry features ahead of their time. Remember back in December 2013, the Vivo Xplay 3S was launched and impressed many users for how good it was compare to the time being.

2 years later, in October 2015, we spotted 2 leaked images online, allegedly of the Vivo Xplay 3S successor – the Vivo Xplay 5S. And it has revealed several expected specs of the Vivo Xplay 5S also. Keep reading on to see what is exciting about Vivo Xplay 5S from one of the best Chinese smartphone producers.

Vivo Xplay 5S

Vivo Xplay 5S: the renders have them leaked

There are actually 2 version of the leaks, one of which  is a pink smartphone with curved screen (again, is it the new trend of 2016?). Meanwhile, the second leak looks more like a real phone spotted in the wild with full metal body. In terms of Vivo Xplay 5S specs, the phone is said to feature several premium ones. The machine sports a huge 6 inch display for maximum enjoyment. However, this big screen could turn out to be troublesome to some users who prefer handy mobile devices. But if you are addicted to great specs, it is definitely the device for you.

Vivo Xplay 5S is said to be powered by the powerful Snapdragon 820 and feature premium 4K display, found only in the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium by now. The cameras will be what it takes to draw customers’ attraction to the device also: whooping 21MP rear camera and appealing 12MP for front shooter. Although we heard no word about Vivo Xplay 5S, we expect it would go with 6GB RAM. Also, from the leaks, it looks like this Vivo’s promising beast will have a fingerprint sensor.

Vivo Xplay 5S

Here is a summary of Vivo Xplay 5S specs

  • 6-inch 4K display
  • Snapdragon 820 processor
  • 4GB – 6GB RAM
  • 64GB internal memory
  • 12 mega-pixel front camera
  • 21 mega-pixel rear camera
  • metal body(?)
  • Fingerprint scanner

I hope the device will come soon in 2016, and goes with a right price. It looks very promising with all the best specs on earth, and a beautiful design also.!

UN: 5G connectivity will become the new standard in 2020

Our technology world is growing with an amazing space! We are living in 2015, when 4G LTE smartphones have not yet to be found everywhere in the world, plans for 5G mobile network have already around the corner. Earlier we heard that, on one side, Huawei and NTT DOMOCO are working together on testing 5G connectivity. On the other side, Nokia and NI as a team have already successfully demonstrated the network with a speed of 10,22 GBps.

5G connectivity

In late October, UN just declared that, 193 member countries have approved the roadmap for the development of 5G network!

5G connectivity: Next generation of mobile networking!

To make it very easy to compare, 5G connectivity will be a mobile network that offer a speed similar to 200 times faster than the 4G LTE we know nowadays. Also, as the developers claimed, this could support in bringing driver-less cars closer to reality.

So, as announced by the UN, 193 member countries, after the approval, are now working on the project, to make it possible for the development and launching of 5G network.  Sanjay Acarya, spokesman for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) said that, the UN is “looking at a 2020 timeframe” to officially release 5G connectivity to the technology industry!

Wow, in a 4 year time (well, it’s almost 2016 now don’t you think), we can totally expect to download heavy loads of files in just minutes, or even seconds! How cool could that be? (Especially when you are too used with the desperately slow internet in the Philippines).

5G connectivity

5G connectivity: the future is fascinating!

Right now, we already have more than one good piece of news to look forward to 2016: the roll out of 6GB RAM on smartphones, the legendary Nokia comebackNow, it is adding up to the excitement, knowing how much can happen within the next 4 years: 5G connectivity sounds like perfect plan for our smartphones in the future. By then, those handy devices will be likely to have very powerful RAM, together with better and better camera, and fast internet connection. Now I wonder how huge smartphone battery can be!

One is the newest OnePlus X, just launched a few days ago, and the other is Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, also released not so long ago, in August, 2015 to be specific. Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is perhaps on the way to Malaysia now while OnePlus X may take more time since it is so new, but will arrive somehow. So, when the days comes, which one would you choose? To help you, we have come up with this comparison 😉 !

1. OnePlus X vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 2: Specsifications

Firstly, it is easy to see that Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and OnePlus X have the same display resolution, which is Full HD, but different screen size, front camera, and RAM capacity. You can see that the Note 2 is a phablet with 5.5-inch screen while the X is really a smartphone measuring 5.0 inches. If you prefer a device that can allow you to watch movies, play games, view photos, etc. much comfortably, the Note will be awesome. On the contrary, you want something easy to be put in th picket, so it is the X.

Secondly, the OP X has an up to 8MP secondary snapper, which is really a good deal for selfie lovers. Moreover, it has 3GB RAM instead of 2GB RAM of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. Obviously, OP X is stronger than Note 2 in terms of specs. But about processor, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 uses a new 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 octa-core Cortex A53 (2.0/2.2GHz) chip that is not so less powerful than the OnePlus X’s Snapdragon 801 2.3GHz chipset. In addition, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 battery is bigger than OnePlus X, which means you can use it longer.

2. OnePlus X vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 2: Price and Availability

As we mentioned, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is likely to be on the way to Malaysia since Xiaomi is going to hold an event in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, 3 November, 2015 and Hugo Barra, Vice President of International for Xiaomi, is likely to be there as well. According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 2 16GB ROM plus dual 4G LTE version is priced at 899 CNY (RM605) in China. As a result, we believe the Redmi Note 2 price in MY will not change a lot, perhaps just ranging from RM610 to RM700. Wow, it will become the king of phones under RM750 for sure.

Meanwhile, due to the great package of specs, OnePlus X has a higher price but still super affordable when compared to others in its kind. It is also said that the X will cost set US users $249 (RM1,070) from November 19, 2015. So, we guess this is the hardest part once it comes to buying a new smartphone. Anyhow, if you want a super good and affordable handset, choose OnePlus X. If you want a good and affordable one, choose Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 😀 .

In conclusion, all the things we have been showing you are for your reference. Have you chosen the right one for yourself? Share with us 🙂 !

7 best Android smartphones to make a BOMB in the market 2016

2015 is ending. 2016 is coming and that will also be the time when Android smartphones “attack” the mobile market with wonderful change in design as well as features. But how? The following 7 best smartphones to be launched in 2016 will show you how!

1. LG G Flex 3

lggflex2-curve

The first G Flex of LG has been able to impress people with the idea of a curved screen and LG G Flex 2 was even more impressive with the same uniqueness but at a higher level. LG G Flex 2 is also the first device to sport the Snapdragon 810 of Qualcomm.

The point is that people wonder if LG will continue such a special series in 2016, and teh answer is MAYBE. According to some leaks these days, a new G Flex handset (let us call it LG G Flex 3) will appear at the beginning of 2016 with a 6-inch Qaud HD display, a Snapdragon 820 chip, 4 GB RAM, a 20.7MP main, an 8MP secondary camera and a fingerprint scanner. Actually, with those LG G Flex 3 specs, we think it is just like many other flagship nowadays, having nothing to make it stand out, so we hope they will have a great plan for the typical curved screen of LG G Flex series. Anyhow, LG G Flex 3 will become the best smartphone of LG company and promise to bring them good sales as well.

2. Project Ara

Project Ara is a project by Google to release a smart phone that has module parts. The parts can be moved, thus creating very complex problems. To build one smart phone that lets you slide its components here and there is a tough job. That is why up until now, there is no official announcement about the release date of any device within this project. Moreover, recently, Google states that Project Ara is postponed until next year.

Google states that Project Ara is 90% complete, and will be out in the market in 2016 if the progress is good. The phones can connect to 3G, and will support 4G network. Additionally, a Project Ara phone lets you exchange its components with new ones. You can change the cover, camera part, or new battery, etc… without having to change to a completely new phone. This can help showcase personality and character. WOW! PLEASE COME EARLY, PROJECT ARA!

3. HTC One M10

At MWC 2015, HTC One M9 was announced and there is a high possibility that its successor, a phone called HTC One M10, will see the light at MWC 2016. But HTC One M10 should sport a better battery and new features like a fingerprint or iris scanner. On the other hand, some source mentioned that One 10 could be known as HTC O2, said to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a huge 6-inch Quad HD screen displaying Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

As for the camera, there are will probably be a 20.7MP rear snapper with f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP selfies shooter. Last but not least, the handset will be powered by a 3,500mAh battery. What do you think about such HTC One 10 specs?

4. Nextbit Robin

Nextbit Robin has a 5.2-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 808 chip, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, a 13MP rear camera and a 2,680mAh battery. It also features a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor built in the power button, and supports USB 3.0 and NFC.

Nextbit also guarantees that if you’d like, you can take advantage of the Robin’s unlocked bootloader to install a custom ROM, but it will not void your warranty 😉 . At the moment, Nextbit Robin has started letting people preorder the phones with Nextbit Robin price of 399 USD (RM1,720) on their page and they will be delivered on from February, 2016.

5&6. Samsung Galaxy S7 và Galaxy S7 edge

This duo smartphone will probably come in April, 2016, according to many news sources. It is said that Samsung company will probably offer 3 versions of Samsung Galaxy S7 perhaps in order to satisfy more types of consumers. Moreover, Samsung has planned to add the Exynos 7422 chip into Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs for Indian market, and Exynos 8890 (as known as Exynos M1 achieving some super impressive scores in benchmark testing) for Korean, Japanese and European ones. Meanwhile, the well-known Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (shipping with the high-end Adreno 530) will also appear in another ver for American and Chinese markets.

About the edge version, it is likely to take the trapezoid shape, looking pretty similar to a device in a Samsung’s recent patent. In the pictures, we see that extra display space replaces bezels on Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and almost move to the top and the bottom of the device. Some Samsung Galaxy S7 edge specs are predicted to be similar to Samsung Galaxy S7 specs. For example, it can boast a Force Touch-like display, a USB Type-C port, fast charging and data transferring tech (those are what we heard about the Galaxy S7 specifications).

7. Asus ZenFone 3

Last but not least, it is ASUS ZenFone 3. Recently there has been information saying that USB Type C port can be a part of ASUS Zenfone 3 and hopefully 6GB RAM. It is expected to be launched in March, 2016.

Specifically, TrustedReviews had an exclusive interview with ASUS CEO Shih. When the interviewer asked whether ASUS will adopt USB Type C for their future products like the ASUS ZenFone 3 and ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom, he said: “I think Type C is the way to go, frankly speaking. You will see the answer when you see the ZenFone 3.” Interesting! In just one answer, Shih has hinted for us 2 important information 🙂 .

CONCLUSION

Those are the 7 smartphones that can become “bombs” in early 2016. Which one do you like most? Personally, Project Ara would be our favorite one 😎 !

Nokia McLaren with whooping 50MP Pureview is Lumia 1020’s successor

One of the most crucial business transactions that have taken place during the past years in the technology world was the purchase of Nokia by Microsoft. Ever since, Microsoft have removed the brand “Nokia” out of their mobile devices and started to sell under their name only.

McLaren-1

This movement has left many users and Nokia fans in regret. However, it is going to end soon since we have heard about Nokia comeback in 2016 quite frequently these days, which means we will see Nokia name on smartphones soon.

But the purpose of this article is not to discuss about either Microsoft purchase or Nokia comeback. The main subject of this article is a very cool smartphone called Nokia McLaren.

Nokia McLaren concept by Nokia – what we know

Nokia McLaren is a beautiful smartphone concept proposed by Nokia when still under the contract with Microsoft. Based on the design, we can say that this phone was supposed to be the successor of Lumia 1020. The smartphone came with super fascinating specs: a handy 5-inch screen, premium 3D Touch ID and an amazing 50MP ZEISS Pureview camera sensor! WOW!

In terms of Nokia McLaren design. it has an elegant grayish body, plus a large circular camera module on the back, very typical of Microsoft camera-centric smartphones. The rears are square and the corners are straight. Just a perfect next-generation of Lumia 1020, that rumors even said it could be name the Lumia 1030.

The device was later cancelled by Microsoft, so not many people have known about it any further. Personally, I think that, it would make an absolutely awesome smartphone if besides the 50MP camera, it goes with huge RAM and long battery also. For example, my recipe of an ultimate Nokia McLaren smartphone specs includes 6GB of RAM (for 2016, yes), at least 4000 mAH battery and 50MP camera! Also, since it was designed for Microsoft, the phone runs on a Windows OS.

McLaren-2-1024x514

On the threshold of Nokia comeback 2016, this Nokia McLaren is definitely of my favorite vote for the GIANT to bring to life. A concept design by their company, now brought back by them – what would be better?

Nokia Comeback 2016: It’s official by the company!

This upcoming grand finale event will confirm the long-waited combination between Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent and will happen on December 2, 2015.

Part of that refers to the target of both parties in the combination of Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent. Both companies clarified that, they are cooperating with each other in the search of pursuing their long-term business development. They are aware of and ready to take any challenges and risks that can occur upon this awaited Nokia comeback 2016. Ok, It has been a bit too technical so far. In order words, Nokia has proudly informed the whole world, by a major planned meeting, about their Nokia comeback 2016.

Nokia-E1

Not long ago, the high-class 23MP camera sensor on Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium has been elected the best smartphone camera to date. However, Sony does not seem to be satisfied with it, yet. The Japanese company does not plan to stop at where they are either.

Actually, if you remember, previous rumors have said that, Sony may stop their smartphone business and “consider other options” if their profit won’t grow in 2016. Then from another source, we heard that Sony is building a new phone factory in Thailand, the first after 20 years. Now, with this fresh news about a business deal between Sony and Toshiba, it seems that the company is definitely not ready to leave the game yet.

In fact, Sony getting prepared to sign a deal with Toshiba, which worth 20 billion Yen (around $165 million USD), allowing Sony to buy Toshiba Image Sensor division.

If everything goes on track, Sony will soon own the Image sensor division from Toshiba in southern Japan. If this deal happens, Toshiba will pull out of this business and focus on other divisions.
