Interbrand 2015: Apple leads the game, Google is the runner-up and Volkswagen loses its place
Recently, we have been informed of the ranking list of the best brands in the world – the Interbrand 2015. Check it out!
2015 Interbrand Best Global Brands Report
Accordingly, Apple is still the one that leads the game and Google is still the runner-up, which is not really surprising to be honest. Basing on the list, we also know that the brand value of Apple increases 43% (or more than 170 billion dollars) this year. Though Google cannot be ranked first, they are also able to increase 12% (more than 120 billion dollars).
In terms of growth, the 2015 Interbrand Best Global Brands Report records that the brand value of Facebook is able to become the one that has developed fastest with 54% increase, reaching more than 22 billion dollars. On the other hand, Microsoft with some positive changes gets 11% increase and more than 67 billion dollars, ranking at the fourth place.
Besides, we have IBM coming in fifth, Samsung seventh, GE at eighth and Amazon at tenth. Looking at the entire top 100, we see that Volkswagen loses their position, compared to last year. They had to deal with many problems, so falling from the 31st to the 35th can be understandable.
According to Jez Frampton, Interbrand’s Global Chief Executive Officer, “The Best Global Brands report examines what it takes for brands to succeed in today’s hyper-fragmented world. As people demand immediate, personalized and tailored experiences, business and brands need to move at the speed of life. Many of the brands in this year’s Top 100 are so intuitively aligned with people’s priorities, that they are able to seamlessly integrate into their everyday lives.”
Apple continues leading the game!
In general, most technology giants are listed in the top 10 of Interbrand 2015. Some familiar and famous ones like Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Samsung, GE and Amazon have succeeded in standing still in the list. Bravo!

Will Samsung still be the TOP smartphone manufacturer in the Q3 of 2015?
Counterpoint Research has once announced that Samsung was leader all over the world in terms of both mobile phones and smartphone shipments in the Q2 of 2015. Specifically, the company was able to get 21% of units shipped in the period of time from April to June while Apple was the runner-up when accounting for 14%. Huawei was placed third with 9%, and then Xiaomi with 5% and ZTE with 5% were able to complete the top five.
In case of including feature phones, Samsung was ranked first with 19% when it came to global mobile phone shipments in the quarter 2. Next places belonged to Apple with 10%, Huawei with 7%, Nokia with 6% and ZTE, Xiaomi, TCL (Alcatel) and LG with the same 4%.
Even though Samsung could be the smartphone leader in most continents of the world, North America still saw Apple as its leader due to its 31% share. Meanwhile, Samsung had to take the second position with 24% and LG third with 15% of the North American market.
Now, if we do not care about the brands, we can see that smartphones themselves have accounted for 75% of mobile phone shipments globally in Q2. And 50% of them were shipped with 4G LTE support. The United States and China were able to make up 67% of the market for phones equipped with LTE in Q2, 2015.
Those are some outstanding numbers recorded in the Q2 report. How about Q3?
There has been no official report for this period of time, but Samsung’s profit in the Q3 of 2015 is predicted to be about 4.5 billion dollars, which is less than the Q2 and less than what this giant expects. Though, Samsung is said to still be able to receive 42.04 billion dollars in the third quarter of the year. Not a bad number at all!
However, can it help Samsung maintain their position in the Q2? Or will Apple with iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus launch reverse the situation? Let’s wait and see!
Samsung Galaxy O5 leak: Exynos 3475 chip and mid-range prices
We know that Samsung has a sub-brand called Samsung Galaxy A whose machines are equipped with metal cover. It also has marked the age of Samsung phone design. Currently, we have Samsung Galaxy A8 as the latest device of this series, and it is said that A8 will have a totally brand new sibling known as Samsung Galaxy O5, the first member of the series Galaxy O as well.
According to many news sources, Galaxy O5 and Galaxy O7 are going to be the first products of the new Galaxy O series announced by Samsung. They are mid-range phones and will mainly aim at those who want affordable handsets. Though Samsung Galaxy O5 and Galaxy O7 designs have not been officially confirmed, they are claimed to look like a Samsung Galaxy A smartphone. If so, do you think that they can draw much attention from the consumers?
In addition, some Samsung Galaxy O5 specs have been leaked, including a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280) display, an Exynos 3475 quad-core 1.3GHz chip, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. As for other features, O5 also has a 5 mega-pixel front plus 8 mega-pixel rear snapper, NFC support and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.
Apart from the above information, we have received no words related to Samsung Galaxy O5 price and availability as well as Samsung Galaxy O7 specs, price and availability. Nonetheless, we guess that O7 can be a big phablet with the screen measuring up to 7 inches. Yet, who knows? We should wait more and hopefully, Samsung company will release more details of those two new members in the near future.
To recap, we think that Samsung is planning to approach more people in general by creating a new mid-range phone series. Nonetheless, we wonder if the phone price tag is really going to be friendly-budget, and even if it is so, will the cost be worth the specs?
Apple wins an appellate court ruling, Samsung to nix UI features from older phones
Because of being the two biggest competitors in the markets, Samsung and Apple have always been fighting over customers as well as their copyright of phone features. Nonetheless, they both have losses and wins across the board in different aspects making it hard to determine whom the definite winner is.
In the recent court appeal, Apple seems to be winning this race. According to the court appeal, it states that some of the older editions of Samsung Galaxy phones have been equipped with features that were used exclusively on iPhones, which might have caused harms for Apple’s sales profits. Samsung was required to pay a sum of money of up to 120 million US dollars to make up for harms that they might have caused Apple.
On top of that, no only the court also wanted Samsung to compensate for Apple, but also wanted Samsung to remove these features from their software. Some of the features that were believed to be overlapping between the two big companies were slides-to-unlock, auto-correct, and the quick link ones.
“It’s an important precedent for Apple and any company that seeks to protect product differentiation,” claimed Nick Rodelli, head of CFRA Legal Edge, a US forensic, accounting, and legal research firm. “This broadens their moat here in the U.S. and makes it more difficult for new entrants to come into the U.S. market and rip off Apple’s features.”
These have been found to break the terms of the copyright. These overlaps could be found on Samsung ‘s 2011 flagships, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S2. This might not cause great impact on Samsung’s sales profits and businesses, but this court ruling opens a new chapter to any companies who want their copyright to be protected and to not be copied by any other companies. This would draw a line for any two rivals whose products might be similar in some senses and to force the designers to come up with new ideas that won’t be overlapping between companies and line ups.
Samsung smartphone shipments to rise by just 0.95% this year!
The two rivals Apple and Samsung are the two biggest competitors in the mobile industry nowadays. As a result, their sale profits and the number of product orders are constantly being compared.
According to a recent report, we were told that the shipment for Samsung in 2015 would only be increased by 0.5%, which is a lot less than its rival, Apple, whose product orders in 2015 have increased to 19%. In previous years, specifically in 2012, it was the golden year for Samsung as their shipment rate was at 131%, which was a lot higher than that of Apple at 50%.
However, the number was being dropped down as the year went by. At first, in 2013, the high shipment rate of 131% dropped to 45% and then went all the way to 0% in 2014. The reason for this decrease in shipment rates is unknown or at least not stated in the report.
However, the fact that T-Mobile has cut down its price by 200$ (equivalent to RM862 in Malaysia) on Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy Edges, and this goes for the mobile companies in Europe as well could be due to various reasons or it could be that Apple has finally taken its turn and came out with newer products with excellent features.
Let’s just wait to see what’s in store for Samsung this year 😉 !

Samsung Foldable Smartphone leaked with Snapdragon 820 and 3GB RAM
Some new leaks about the world’s first foldable smartphone have been seen on the internet these days. More interestingly, most of them were originated from a project called Project Valley of Samsung. Let’s check out what it looks like 🙂 !
Samsung Foldable Smartphone leaked pictures
In the the past few months, the mobile industry has been stirred by some pictures of a foldable smartphone made by Samsung company. To be specific, they appeared in a plan called Project Valley.
According to this project, Samsung is preparing and developing a kind of phone featuring 2 screens and it can be folded, literally. This is considered as a truly new step in the smartphone world and Samsung does have whatever it takes to commercialize as well as make money with this new machine. And lately, through some pics of the foldable handset leaked on the internet, we know how Samsung is going to deal with the design and tech to make such a concept come true.
Looking at the photos, the screen which is able to be bent is the key here. It sits right on the of a textile-like material. On the other hand, tensile springs and mechanisms function as a keeper to help the bendable screen stretch tightly once the clamshell opens.
Besides, a few specs about the foldable phone are also spotted. It is said that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 3GB of RAM and an expandable internal storage (which means there will be a microSD card slot) will be included. Unfortunately, for other information related to battery, display resolution, color, price, availability, and so on, no words have been officially made, yet we hope that Samsung will soon release more details in the near future.
So, what do you think about this concept and will you be glad to have this foldable smartphone? Share with us your opinions 😉 !
Samsung Galaxy S7 aka Project Lucky: 4GB RAM, 4K display
“Project Lucky” is known as the codename for the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7. Even though, it hasn’t been long since the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge Plus came out, rumors state that Samsung is already in the process of developing their next flagship, and it’s been promised to provide as high quality product with amazing features if not better.
The new Samsung Galaxy S7 will also display 4GB RAM, which matches the amount included in the most recent Samsung’s product. The Samsung Galaxy S7 would also have a 16-megapixel rear camera and a large 5.7-inch display. The rumors have also stated that Samsung would launch two sizes of the Galaxy S7 at the same time, hence the users would have more than one option as to which phone to select from. An interesting piece of information to note is that the rumors have claimed that the S7 would possibly have 4K resolution that matches exactly the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, another competitor in the market.
Samsung Galaxy S7 aka Project Lucky
Another exciting news for the users who usually like a lot of storage on their phones, Samsung Galaxy S7 might come back with the additional microSD card on top of the already built in internal storage options of either 32 GB or 64GB. This “Project Lucky” seems very promising with all the amazing built-in features as well as the additional pieces that are worth noting. This new project might be another hit in the near future when it comes out for us users.
However, these are still rumors and haven not been officially confirmed, but this could be something worth anticipating. Stay tuned! We will come back with more interesting info!
Samsung Galaxy A9 leak: 3GB RAM, 13MP Cam and Snapdragon 620
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 just hit the market not long ago, but now we are informed of a new Samsung phone in the works. Most people would think about Samsung Galaxy S7 at once since many rumors about that remarkable flagship have been spreading on the internet these days. Though, it is not! Actually, it is a machine belonging to the Samsung Galaxy A range, called Samsung Galaxy A9.
Obviously, it is the successor to Samsung Galaxy A8 launched in July, 2015 and said to be powered by a Snapdragon 620 SoC chip. Recently, the device also appeared in the database of GeekBench with the model number known as “Samsung msm8976fhdlte-eur-open”. That’s pretty complicated!
Samsung Galaxy A9 leak on GeekBench
However, it gives us some hint about the Samsung Galaxy A9 specs. Specifically, we notice the part “msm8976”, which usually refers to the presence of Snapdragon 620 processor with CPU consisting of eight cores — quad-core Cortex-A72 and quad-core Cortex-A53. Moreover, the chip has the ability of recording 4K videos and playback. As for other Samsung Galaxy A9 specs, there are a rear 13MP camera, 3GB RAM and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
Well, there is not much detailed information of Samsung Galaxy A9 features released at the moment, but we have seen its scores on the benchmark: 1325 points in the single-core test and 4461 points in the multi-core test. In fact, they are quite an impressive results for SD 620, a chipset considered Qualcomm’s “not premium” silicon.
In terms of Samsung Galaxy A9 price and availability, we have received no info related to them. Anyhow, we wonder if Samsung really wants to introduce up to 2 Galaxy A products this year or they will wait a bit more to make Galaxy A9 a “bomb” smartphone in early 2016.
Then, what do you think about the idea of Samsung Galaxy A9?
Sony mocks Apple over iPhone 6S battery life
The new Apple iPhone 6S launch has been the hottest news during these past couple days with new features and the unchanged battery life.
With the impressive features that Apple has always come up with and also with the unchanged battery life that would last users an entire day, would there be a weak spot for this new line-up?
Surprisingly, this question was answered by Sony, who tweeted a question: “Hey Siri, what about the battery life?”and provided a link on how to switch to Sony from iOS, it seems that Sony might have just found the sore spot for the new Apple iPhone 6S line-up. Sony claimed that their new Sony Xperia Z5 line-up provides users with 2 days worth of battery and that’s something the Iphone 6S is not capable of.
Not only Sony has been boasting about their new line-up, but also Samsung is attacking the Apple’s new product. Samsung has been tweeting about its latest Samsung Galaxy S6 line-up and how similar it is between the Apple iPhone 6S specs and the Samsung’s products. These companies have always been competing over their products every time new products release.
In general, different products and line-ups have their strong features as well as sore spots, as in the case with the Apple iPhone 6S battery life, but what are your opinions? Which phone would you prefer using? The ones with cooler features that might require more charges or the ones with less features but might last you an entire day or two? Which would be beneficial for you as a user?
