At Computex 2015, ASUS has unveiled a dream flagship, a new ZenFone that is dedicated to taking the best selfies. Lately, it has been leaked over the internet for the over the last few days with the name ASUS ZenFone Selfie. Though the press release did not really reveal details about its launch, according to ASUS CEO Jerry Shen, this gorgeous device can be available from July, 2015. Hopefully we will have ASUS ZenFone Selfie Malaysia soon this year.

In term of specs, the ZenFone Selfie is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, not Intel Atom processors like other ZenFone 2s. If the first six months of 2015 sees the releases of many high-end devices such as Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, HTC One M9 and LG G4, the smartphone market will even get hotter in the second half due to the highly possible debuts of upcoming high-end phones. So, what are they?

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 5:

So far, information of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has not appeared much, yet it is likely that this product will own 4K display with a size of 5.9 inches. Besides, it is expected to boast 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 808 CPU and an S-Pen stylus. Galaxy Note 5 battery possibly packs at generous capacity of 4,100mAh or maybe even larger. According to leaks, Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship Mi5 will be launched on 5 November, 2015. Some reliable revelations about Mi5 specs are also spotted like Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 5.5-inch 2K screen and a 16MP or maybe up to 20MP rear camera. There are two versions for users’ choices, 16GB and 64GB of storage.

Another guess is that the new Xiaomi Mi5 will go on sale along with its sibling Mi5 Plus coming with 6-inch screen and similar specs as Mi5. As for the price, it’s still a mystery.

5. Huawei Mate 8:

There’s not many details about this Huawei’s member. All we know is that it can have a 6” Quad HD screen and 64-bit octa-core Kirin 930 chipset. Other specs may include fingerprint scanner, 20.7MP rear shooter, and 4G LTE Cat 6 support.

Some leaks say that Mate 8 will appear in this autumn with a price of $600. Will it also be the Huawei Mate 8 price in Malaysia?

6. Huawei D8:

It seems like Huawei is ambitious this year when planning for many high-end smartphones’ debuts in 2015. Apart from Huawei Mate 8, Huawei D8 will probably join the race. It will take a 5.5” QHD screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage and Kirin 950 chip.

7. Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940XL:

In this case, we know about them better since Microsoft has claimed their specs. Specifically, this duo will run on Windows 10. The bigger device is Lumia 940XL, haing a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. On the other hand, it uses octa-core Snapdragon 810 with Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. In terms of camera, it’s got a 20MP PureView rear camera with Short Pulse variable-tone LED Flash and 5MP front-facing cam.

Besides, Microsoft is also working on a 5-inch Lumia 940 that will have similar specification as the Lumia 940XL.

8. OnePlus Two:

A listing recorded in the database of Geekbench on May 20, 2015 reveals that the next OnePlus’s handset will feature 3GB RAM with Android 5.1 Lollipop together with Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 1.5GHz. However, apart from that, we cannot tell more about the OnePlus Two specs. Even the name for it has not been confirmed yet.

Though the camera wasn’t mentioned, according to various reports, we expect OnePlus will get a better camera, probably from Sony Exmor 20.7MP, for their new device.

9. OPPO Find 9:

Actually, at the moment no official words including an official OPPO Find 9 launch date and price have been made. We just learn that Find 9 possibly will be powered by the powerful Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor with 4GB RAM and equipped with a 5.5-inch 2K display.

10. Huawei Nexus:

Huawei Nexus this year can be a 5.7-inch 2K AMOLED screen in combination with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. However, this is quite different from what we expected. Many people thought that Huawei would make the new Nexus with its own SoC. Even Huawei’s decision of featuring a 2K screen surprises people since it will harm the battery life. Additionally, Huawei Nexus maker’s executive used to say that 1080p was good enough for a compact phone, no need for 2K. If the news on Huawei Nexus turns out to be true, it must have been Google who insisted on Huawei using Qualcomm chipset and 2K screen for the next Nexus phone.

People are excited with the news that Samsung Galaxy S6 edge will have a variant known as Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Plus coming in the next few weeks. According to some sources, this smartphone is also called “Project Zero 2” internally. It will remain the design as the standard S6 edge but with a bigger screen.

This new device was said to be appearing in IFA Berlin trade show in the later part of this year. Smartphone market is kind of heating up thanks to the new member of Meizu family. At the very first beginning of June, specifically on June 2, 2015, Meizu introduced their new device called Meizu M2 Note (aka Blue Charm Note 2) and received lots of positive feedback and responses. On the other hand, there are also some people assume that M2 Note is just a phone resembling its predecessor Meizu M1 Note. However, in fact, they do have things which make them different from each other.

First of all, let’s have a quick look at the Meizu M2 Note specs:

This brand new phone boasts a 5.5” Full HD screen, an Sharp’s IGZO panel, and a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 1.3GHz processor. In addition, M2 Note includes 2GB RAM along with 16 or 32GB of expandable storage. The camera combo consists of a 13 mega-pixel f/2.2 rear sensor with dual LED flash and a 5 mega-pixel f/2.0 front shooter. As for operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop together with 64-bit Flyme OS’ is in charge, and the whole handset is powered by a 3,100mAh battery. Moreover, M2 Note also sports dual SIM supporting 4G LTE connectivity (FDD- and TD-LTE).

So, there are some differences that can be recognized easily. Firstly, Meizu M2 Note does have a microSD card slot, which means you can store a lot of things in your own phone. Meanwhile, M1 Note cannot give you more space but just the internal storage. Secondly, the new is thinner than the original. M2’s thickness measures 8.7mm, which is 0.2mm slimmer than the M1 Note (8.9mm thick). Next, it’s about the home button. Now, the 2nd generation owns an oval physical home button, not as round as the first one’s. Last but not least, Meizu has added a new color – GRAY – for M2 Note, a completely interesting choice for Meizu consumers.

On the other, there are still a few aspects in which Meizu M1 Note seems more capable than M2. Meizu M2 Note takes the Mali-T720 MP3 edition running at 450MHz (an 8-cluster GPU by ARM), while the original M1 Note features the Mali-T760, a 16-cluster graphics chip with a higher clock speed of 700MHz. The new CPU is also clocked at 1.3GHz; the earlier one is up to 1.7GHz, which can promise a bit smoother performances. Besides, another very small difference is that M1’s batt is larger than M2’s (3,140mAh vs 3,100mAh, respectively) perhaps partly because of the thickness.

Nonetheless, except for those small differences, Meizu M2 Note 2 is still a worth-considering smartphone due to its good specs and prices. We guess that the key selling point for Meizu’s smartphone this time is Meizu M2 Note price. It is going on sale with 2 variants: 16GB and 32GB for under RM750. To be specific, 16GB version will officially cost $130 (Meizu M2 Note price in Malaysia can be around RM479), and 32GB is $160 (RM589) via JD.com and Meizu store in China. That somehow appears cheaper than the Meizu M1 Note price in Malaysia.

To recap, if you are looking for an affordable phone with good specs, you can totally take Meizu M2 Note into consideration. Basically it has 5.5” FHD screen, 2GB RAM, 64-bit processor, 3,100mAh and 13MP rear cam for about RM479 (16GB ver).

Meizu MX5 has appeared on TENAA (China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center) lately with up to two variants of the MX5: M575M and M575U. And good news is some interesting Meixu MX5 Specs are also known for now.

According to the listing, one of the two MX5 versions will own an octa-core 2.3GHz processor which is rumored to be MediaTek MT6793. Morever, it will run on FlymeOS 4.5 on top of Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.

Reportedly, it also features a 5.5-inch FHD display with AMOLED tech, 3GB RAM and the 16GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB via microSD card). As for camera, people loving taking quality photos may now feel happy with the 20MP rear shooter and 3MP front-facing cam. Though it’s not the 41MP PureView Cam as we expected before, 20MP is still a great option, right?

Other specs include the phone’s dimensions of 146 x 74.6 x 7.9mm, a quite satisfying 3,150mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor built on MX5 home button. On the other hand, from the TENAA listing, it shows that the upcoming Meizu product will be the first phone to contain extremely fast high voltage charging 12V DC.

Recent rumors these days say that MX5 is going to be introduced on June 30, 2015, nearly one month after the Meizu M2 Note debut. It is also said to be one of the first Android devices to boast the MediaTek’s new Helio X20 chipset.

As for design, if you remember the latest leaked photo of Meizu MX5, it showed us a border-less MX5, which seems to follow the trend of design in 2015 like Nubia Z9 and OPPO R7 Plus. However, we only could see the front surface of the handset.

With the newer leaked pictures, we now have a full concept for the whole Meizu MX5 with both front and back surfaces. If those pics turn out to be true, Meizu’s new flagship looks good in the unibody alloy body but somehow much like its elder brother Meizu MX4. Besides, MX5 will feature a physical home button and a fingerprint scanner on the rear.
