Lenovo Vibe P1 Hands-on: Beautiful strong phone with 5,000mAH battery

At the moment, Lenovo Vibe P1 price ranges form RM1,300 to RM1,600 on our market for the Lenovo Vibe P1 Specs including a huge battery of 5,000mAh…

lenovo vibe p1 hands-on

After it was announced in at IFA 2015, many smartphone retailers in our country has tried to bring it here. It is said to belong to mid-range phones, sporting a good package of specifications and a reasonable price. But, how about Lenovo Vibe P1 design? We will have a chance to look at its hands-on pictures today!

Specifically speaking, Lenovo Vibe P1 owns an all-alloy frame. You can remove the part on the top of the rear to put microSD card and 2 nano SIMs in. It now has 2 colors: Platinum and Graphite Grey. Generally, the phone design is not really outstanding with 4 rounded corners and a flat camera, which reminds us of HTC One series. However, Vibe P1 colors bring a premium feeling like a high-end device to consumers.

The most special thing about Lenovo Vibe P1 is its battery of 5,000mAh enabling the handset to definitely last about 2 days and above. As a result, its thickness also increases to 9.9 mm and it weighs 189 grams. Yet, it does not seem a minus for this Lenovo product. Actually, people feel more sturdy when holding it in their hands.

Besides, the Lenovo Vibe P1 features Rocket Charge tech which allows P1 to reach 3 hours of non-stop calling with just 5 minutes of charging. Wow!

As for other Lenovo Vibe P1 specs, there are a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.5GHz chip, a fingerprint sensor built in the home button, 3GB RAM plus 16GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB via microSD card). Moreover, Lenovo Vibe P1 sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing snapper. The phone also supports a dual SIM and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

In conclusion, with this Vibe P1, Lenovo company shows that they are still following the trend of big battery smartphones along with other good-enough features. It surely will meet people’s basic needs. So, do you like it? Share with us your opinions 😉 !

NASA’s “Earth Independence” plan to send people to Mars for good!

Not long ago, NASA released a detailed plan showing their intention of sending people to Mars FOR GOOOOOD!

Yes, NASA’s final goal is to send a group of very brave explorers to Mars to do something that can prove their ultimate goal of being “Earth independence.” Though NASA has not confirm that we will successfully colonize Mars, it feels like they are pretty optimistic about the planet’s potential to sustain life.

Accordingly, the plan has three thresholds: Earth Reliant, Proving Ground and Earth Independent. Earth Reliant includes research that is being conducted aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Furthermore, scientists will base on experiments there to determine the long-term effects of deep space travel, so that Proving Ground can test requirements for humans to live and work at distances far away from the our planet. As for the Earth Independent, which is the most important step of all, will decide if we can live on Mars.

Many sources claimed that NASA has already had a budget for the journey and plans for taking some crucial steps in the early 2020s, starting with testing their Orion spacecraft containing humans inside. Previously, NASA was able to successfully examine the shuttle without humans and they look forward to success again.

According to William Gerstenmaier, associate administrator for Human Exploration and Operations at NASA headquarters, “NASA’s strategy connects near-term activities and capability development to the journey to Mars and a future with a sustainable human presence in deep space.”  However, there are some obstacles that NASA has to overcome on the journey of “Earth independence” and nobody knows whether they can do it or not.

Yet, they have taken around 40 years to discover Mars, using orbiters, landers and rovers to study Mars, so we are sure that they do have abilities to solve all the problems. And humans setting foot on the Red Planet may be not just a dream! We will probably know the answer as early as the 2030s.

How to make Samsung Galaxy Note 5 back transparent?

Samsung has just announced their Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Pink Gold lately. Though, no matter what color it is, your smartphone is still not really outstanding. So, how about making the Note 5 back cover transparent? 😎

How to make Samsung Galaxy Note 5 back transparent?

It is a genius, isn’t it? But note that Samsung is not the one that creates such a style. In fact, over at Reddit, a user with the name of Skarface08 has posted a pic of a transparent Galaxy Note 5 along with some basic steps to make it.

Actually, the idea is to remove the color film under the phone’s glass back. At first it sounds pretty simple since it is like you just need to take the film out of the machine, yet when we remember the rear of the Galaxy Note 5 is non-removable, we wonder how he/she can do it. Luckily, removing the back is not that hard! A razor blade, a suction cup, and a heat gun will help you.

“You first have to heat it up. I use a Ecoheat gun that gets it really hot, the use a suction cup to pry the back off. After that you let it cool off a bit and take off all the film with a razor blade. Then i just stuck it back on the phone because there was already adhesive on the actual device,” according to Skarface08.

In general, we love such a unique transparent Samsung Galaxy Note 5 so much and hope that someday the company will produce a smartphone like that. However, at the moment, if you are considering doing so, please keep in mind that some unexpected problems may happen and make you lose the warranty of your device although the whole process seems not very difficult. For more tips on how to do it, click HERE.

In case of being able to turn your Note 5 into a transparent one, do not forget to share with us, okay 😉 ?!

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge concept: Breathtakingly beautiful design

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has brought Samsung great success and a good sign showing that they are using the right material and design for their smartphones. And if  the company is working on a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to launch with Samsumg Galaxy S7 in the future, it is not something much surprising. However, the question is that whether S7 edge can be as successful as its predecessor?

There are still several months before the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge release date, but many Samsung fans cannot wait to see it in real life. As a result, concepts for S7 edge were born to satisfy people’s desire as well as curiosity.

Here we got one and a special thing about it is that Galaxy S7 Edge takes the trapezoid shape, looking pretty similar to a device in a Samsung’s recent patent. In the pictures, we see that extra display space replaces bezels on Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and almost move to the top and the bottom of the device.

In general, the handset seems strong and sturdy even without the physical home button. The rear camera is designed in a beautiful way and it seems hard for the cam’s lens to be scratched or damaged. On the other hand, there are volume control buttons placed on one side of the phone.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge specs, we are not aware of much information about them but prediction is that S7 edge features will be similar to Samsung Galaxy S7 specs. For example, it can boast a Force Touch-like display, a USB Type-C port, fast charging and data transferring tech (those are what we heard about the Galaxy S7 specifications).

In the end, though it is a concept, we hope that it will come true since the design is gorgeous. Don’t you think?

Apple stealing AGAIN, charged a heavy $862 millions FOR….

Do you think 862 million dollars is a small number? Of course not! But, Apple will probably have to pay that much for what they did!

According to Reuters, a U.S. jury has recently found Apple guilty of equipping their A7, A8 and A8X chipset with a patented technology by the University of Wisconsin-Madison (WARF). There is a strong possibility that Apple will have to face a huge damage pay out, about 862 million dollars, this time.

Specifically, WARF has been owning the license since 1998. The tech is about improving energy consumption effectively and increasing the chip’s productivity without wasting too much battery energy. That sounds like something not only Apple but also many other manufacturers would want to do to their smartphones.

In fact, Apple A7, A8 and A8X chip are being used in Apple iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and some Apple iPad versions, and maybe they are going to get involved in the patent infringement case WARF has just raised up. This somehow reminds us of a similar situation happening last month when WARF was also the one to take up a lawsuit against Apple, targeting Apple A9 and A9X processors used in Apple iPhone 6S and iPad Pro.

Apple got sued in January 2014 and the result has been announced by the jury. Apple has to pay the University of Wisconsin-Madison 234 million dollars for the the patent infringement in terms of Microprocessor, according to AFP.

“This is a case where the hard work of our university researchers and the integrity of patenting and licensing discoveries has prevailed,” Carl Gulbrandsen, managing director of WARF. They was seeking 400 million dollars in damages, but the jury decided to award less than the expected amount, which is not unusual, basing on what Shane Brunner, who is a partner at the Madison law firm of Merchant & Gould and not involved in the case, said.

At the moment, new products of Apple such as Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus have sported the Apple A9 and A9X chip.

So, what do you think about the situation and the amount of money that Apple must pay out? Is it fair to WARF?

Aliens are real, found by NASA in the Milky Way

A star identified by NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope have features of very complicated structures which could point to an advanced technological civilization. Or to be very frank, the structure could have been built by aliens.

Exact quoting from the astronomers has it said, the megastructure of a large cluster of objects in space look like something you would “expect an alien civilization to build”. The mysterious object was found surrounding a giant star called KIC 8462852 and looks like nothing human being could build. The KIC 8462852 star lies just above the Milky Way and Kepler has been collecting data on this star for four years and detected an unusual light pattern.

aliens

In response to the curious public, Jason Wright, an astronomer from Penn State University, told the Atlantic “I was fascinated by how crazy it looked,” and that “Aliens should always be the very last hypothesis you consider, but this looked like something you would expect an alien civilization to build.”

Yes, you are reading it right to every word. A-L-I-E-N-S. This is no joking, and I am not taking it from a scene of a sci-fi movie either. Though have not been officially scientifically proven, the sight of such mega-structure object is such a surprising and unexpected truth that has been challenging our astronomers and experts from NASA.

NASA is working non-stop to give an explanation for this phenomenon. “If things go really well, the follow-up could happen sooner,” Wright told The Atlantic. “If we saw something exciting… we’d be asking to go on right away.”

LG G4 OS: World’s first phone to update Android 6.0 Marshmallow in…

Apart from Samsung, Korea also has LG as one of the giant smartphone companies. And in the next days, LG will make LG G4 the first phone in the world to be updated with Android 6.0 Marshmallow…

lg g4 OS

Yes, perhaps LG will become the first manufacturer in the world to get their phones updated with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow (of course, we do not count the Nexus deivces 😀 ).

“Owners of LG Electronics’ (LG) G4 smartphone will be the first in the world to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. LG G4 owners in Poland will begin receiving their M upgrade beginning next week with other markets in Europe, Asia and the Americas to follow,” said LG on October 15, 2015.Since LG released the announcement, we do not doubt the authenticity of the news. Futhermore, after Google rolled out the update to a lot of their Nexus products, we are glad that other Android devices will be able to get that new, awesome operating system. And LG is the one to begin the “era” of Marshmallow on machines outside of Google’s phones. Wow!

However, like LG G3 before (when updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop), LG will start with Poland and other countries later. “Details of the Android M upgrade schedule and affected models will be announced in individual markets,” said LG.

Hopefully we will not have to wait so long! For those who are using or going to buy an LG G4, let’s add Android 6.0 into the LG G4 Specs 😉 !

Are you willing to exchange a Galaxy Note 5 for a OnePlus 2?

Remember when OnePlus One was introduced last year, it stirred the mobile market like a storm. And we thought it would happen again with the OnePlus 2. However, things did not seem to happen that way. The OnePlus team has had a harder time mainly because of the OnePlus 2 launch and selling method.

taketheedgeoff-840x466

We also thought they would give up, but with the information appearing these days, perhaps OnePlus will once again join the competition with a mid-range phone called OnePlus X. Moreover, we are aware that they recently have enabled those without invites to buy a OP2 and launched a new contest where people can give their Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, or Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to the company in order to take a free OnePlus 2 in return. But, it is important to note that OnePlus has promised to donate those phones to a charitable organization called Hope Phones, helping bring medical tech to where it is needed.

Although their intention is good, honestly, we do not think it works. Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge Plus and Note 5 cost much more than OnePlus 2. And it is not 100% sure that whoever donates will be able to get an OP2 back since OnePlus advertised it as a contest, only shipping 50 units in total and picking the winner randomly. Then, how can people feel like participating in?

To recap, we can see that OnePlus is trying their best to draw more people’s attention to their smartphones. Nevertheless, we also have a feeling that the contest cannot make it. Do you agree?

5 Nokia world’s records that you never knew before

Nokia has been the topic to talk about everywhere these days. With 150 year of history and still growing, Nokia definitely proved their name in the smartphone industry. After years of absence, the piece of news that Nokia is coming back in 2016 has excited users worldwide.
Nokia world's records

However, beside being the legend in the mobile technology, there are much more stories about Nokia hidden here and there that not everybody knows. That is why I want to get you guys to know more about Nokia fun (and admirable facts)

5 Nokia world’s records that not every one knew

1. The most listened to ringtone in the world

It is the famous Nokia tune: Grand Valse. The tune was written in 1902 by Spanish composer Francisco Tarrega, Anssi Vanjoki along with Lauri Kivinen. Such melody have been used so widely and for such a long time that I bet most of us can hum along. It has been estimated that the Grand Valse is heard worldwide more or less 1,8 billion times a day.

2. The world’s first and most popular mobile game

I bet most of us still can not forget the snake game first introduced to the Nokia 6100 series. The game is pre-installed into over 350 million Nokia phones and mobile devices all around the world. However, the game stops being published several years ago.

3. The world’s best selling phone

Yes, you are right. It is the Nokia 1100 – a featured phone launched in 2003.  Since then, 250 million units of Nokia 1100 were reported to ship all over the world, making it the best selling phone and electronic device ever.

4. The biggest cinema screen in the world.

Yes, as I mentioned above, Nokia is not just about phone. The company once produced a cinema screen so big that it had to be seen from outside. Measuring 51 x 28 meters (1,428 meter square), the Nokia biggest cinema screen weighted about 140 kilos.

Nokia world's records

5. The world’s most anticipated come back

Nokia come back – although not being statistically  proven, is definitely the most anticipated ever found worldwide. Nokia reputation, together with their long term absence, together with endless rumors and leaking, are what contributed to attract more and more people into the “waiting team”

Nokia rocks! I love them more for these 5 Nokia world’s records. Count me in, I am looking forward to their come back!

ONEPLUS X ROUND-UP: 5″ FHD, 8MP selfie cam to launch on Oct 29

After OnePlus Two, the company is going to release a smaller and more affordable phone called OnePlus X. And here are the main things you should need to know:

oneplus x

OnePlus X Design:

OnePlus X is the third product of OnePlus, but according to Carl Pei, it is going to be a device for those who care about design more than specifications. Basing some leaked images, OnePlus X is a bit different from OnePlus 2. It features a metal finish without a physical home button. On the back, there is a dual camera with dual LED flash, which reminds us of HTC One M8 camera.

Recently, OnePlus also has released a teaser to announce the OnePlus X launch happening on October 29. In the post, there was a tag line #PowerfullyBeautiful. So, we hope to see an extremely beautiful phone in the next days. If not, OnePlus X will become the main topic of many negative discussions.

OnePlus X Specs:

As we mentioned above, OnePlus X will be smaller than its siblings due to the 5-inch Full HD screen with 441 ppi, and not long ago, a phone listed as OnePlus Mini on the Amazon India website was spotted with most of its specifications.

The whole machine will be powered by a MediaTek 6795 octa-core chip, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a 2,450mAh battery. Additionally, it is said to run on Oxygen 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

As for the camera, there are a 13MP rear and a 8MP front-facing snapper. If OnePlus 2 comes with no NFC support, OnePlus X will probably have as well as 4G LTE connectivity.

However, we are still not the right people to confirmed the information. Therefore, just take it with a pinch of salt 😉 !

OnePlus X Price and availability:

Because the phone is aiming at the mid-range category, we will not be surprise if OnePlus X price is way more affordable than the OnePlus Two launched a few months ago. In fact, some leaks said that the X will cost around $250 (RM1,045). Nonetheless, to be honest, with such an amount of money (not too much but not little at all), we think we can get something better from other brands. Yet, let’s wait and see!

Note that you will not have to wait too long. It is around the corner because the company’s Twitter suggested that OnePlus would be heading to London this month for its next smartphone. On the other hand, a similar X shape appeared in a OnePlus teaser for a event at India taking place earlier than London, which hints that it can be a global release for OnePlus X.

Conclusion:

If OnePlus 2 is a strong flagship in the high-end smartphone group, OnePlus X is expected to be the strongest in the mid-range one (in terms of specs, price and design). Of course we do not know much about it for now, but hope that OnePlus will be able to create good sales for at the end of the year 🙂 .

OPPO R7S – October 18

OPPO has announced that a more advanced variant of OPPO R7 called OPPO R7S will be introduced at the technology fair GITEX at Dubai from October 18 to 22, 2015.

Besides, according to some information leaked on the internet, OPPO R7S specs have a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 615 1.5GHz chipset and 3GB or 4GB of RAM plus 32GB of expandable storage. As for the camera, we have a combo of a 13MP rear and a 8MP front snapper (which is perfect for selfie lovers 😉 ). The whole machine will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, but we expect it can reach Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS when truly coming out.

Anyhow, OPPO has not confirmed anything for the specs as well as OPPO R7S price yet. So, we need to be more patient until October 18 😉 .

Xiaomi – October 19

After Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, perhaps Xiaomi will not want to introduce smartphones again in such a short time. Actually, they are going to hold an event on the 19th but no one is sure what products are going to be there. As a couple of their teasers hinted, we guess they will be a camera and Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 with larger 9.7-inch display, magnetic keyboard and Windows 10 OS.

HTC One A9 and Pepsi P1 – October 20

Firstly, we have HTC One A9 (aka HTC A9) which is said to debut on Oct 20. Though we still have a few days to go, some leaked photos of HTC A9 have been spotted on the internet. And we will not be surprised if you mistake it as an Apple iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S since it does look like the iPhone design, especially the lines across the handset, right?!

For the rumored HTC One A9 specs, it boasts a 5-inch Full HD screen, an octa-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 chip, 2GB RAM, Android 6.0 OS and a 12MP rear shooter. Other info about specs like battery or front cam is not clear for now. Therefore, we suggest waiting a bit more, then we will give you a table with full details as usual 😀 .

Another handset reported to be seen on this day as well is P1. Perhaps “P” is for Pepsi and “1” is the first haha. Yes, it is a smartphone released by PepsiCo. Besides, the company also announced that they are working with an unnamed “licensing partner” to produce their own smartphone plus related accessories. Cool!

Some of Pepsi P1 specs are spotted, featuring “decent but not high-end specs.” Specifically, it owns a 5.5-inch Full HD display, an MT6592 1.7GHz SoC chipset, 16GB of internal storage, and 2GB RAM. Though, it still makes us feel curious and excited! How will it look like? And how much will Pepsi P1 cost? And if Pepsi is successful with such a marketing method, will we have something like Coca C1 smartphone? Oh, so many questions to deal with!

Meizu M3 Note – October 21

Lately, Meizu has announced that they are going to hold a conference on October 21, 2015 and a new member of the Blue Charm (Meizu M Note) family will be introduced there on also.

Basing on its leaked design and specifications, most people immediately assume that it will be Meizu M3 Note, the successor to Meizu M2 Note released in June, 2015. It will probably come with a 2.0GHz Meidatek MT6795 processor (much faster than the 1.3Ghz MT6573 chip used for M2 Note), a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 2.5D glass panel, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM (expandable up to 128GB) and a combo of a 5MP front and 13MP rear camera. In addition, the operating system running the whole machine is said to be YunOS 3.1.6.

LeTV and Motorola Droid Turbo 2 – 27th October

Letv company released their first three smartphones (LeTV Le 1, Le 1 Pro and Le Max) in April and their sales have been reported to be going well. Therefore, they may do that again, introducing next generations of those 3 on October 27.

Nonetheless, it is note sure yet even though a new leak said that Letv would announce at least two flagship devices at the event. We guess one of them may be LeTV Le Max 2, which is the HOT machine we heard a lot these days. LeTV Max 2 is considered as a beast due to the LeTV Max 2 specs including the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and up to 6GB RAM. Can you believe it?

Apart from Max 2, some rumors also suggested a new budget phone named LeTV X500 equipped with Helio X10 chipset would come and cost around 999 Yuan (which makes LeTV X500 price in Malaysia can be RM660).

As for the Motorola Droid Turbo 2, we’ve got confirmation that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 release date is on Oct 27. Additionally, it will be a Verizon-exclusive device and the international version of the Droid Turbo 2 will be in the form of the Moto X Force. Moreover, at the event, the company is expected to unveil another mid-range Droid called the Droid Maxx. So, we have 2 Motorola phones on the way!

Talking about Motorola Droid Turbo 2 specs, it will use a 5.4-inch Quad HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM expandable. A massive 3,700mAh battery, 21MP or 23MP camera will be on-board as well. If so, that is really a flagship worth the wait.

OnePlus X – October 29

OnePlus is said to launch a new phone on Oct 29. It is called OnePlus X, arriving as the company’s third Android smartphone, and it is budget-friendly also (OnePlus X price is at $249 – RM1,040).

Leaks mentioned that OnePlus X would offer a 5-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, a fingerprint scanner and a dual rear camera. Besides, if X is the OnePlus Mini that used to appear in TENAA and FCC documents before, it will also boast dual 2.5D glass panels, metal chassis, and USB Type-C port.

Anyhow, we need to see it to believe it!

Well, those are the TOP smartphones and devices to be launched this October! Which one do you like best? Share with us your opinions 😉 !
