Close-up: BlackBerry Venice slider with Android 6.0 and a November launch
Do you still remember the flagship “slider” that Blackberry introduced in MWC this year? It is named as Blackberry Venice and said to sport a curved Quad HD display. Recently, we have just got more new updates from @evleaks. Accordingly, this BlackBerry’s slider is ready to hit the shelves in November, 2015.
BlackBerry Venice is expected to feature a large touchscreen that can slide up to reveal an iconic physical keyboard from BlackBerry. On the other hand, it is also said that the Venice will own curved edges like Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.
Spec-wise, some leaks revealed that BlackBerry Venice would be the very first device in the BlackBerry house to run on Android OS and we hope that it will be Android Marshmallow, the newest ver from Google. Besides that, BlackBerry Venice specs are likely to include a 5.4-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 3GB RAM.
Looking at the leaked pictures of BB Venice, we notice that the SIM and microSD card slot are placed on the top of the phone. Other than that, there are no more words made for other specs of this unique machine such as camera, battery, storage, etc.
As we mentioned above, @evleaks said that November would see the BlackBerry Venice launch. Though, it has not been confirmed by the company yet. As for the glossy BlackBerry Venice price and availability, we will update the information as soon as possible.
Now, let’s have a look at the beautiful BlackBerry Venice before it is launched in November (or maybe even sooner), and tell us what do you think about it 😉 !
A OnePlus One burned and OnePlus team refused to exchange for a new one
Recently, a piece of bad news related to OnePlus One has been announced. A man named Ankur Dugar living in New Delhi was the one having this unpleasant experience. Reportedly, at 2 a.m. (Indian time), Dugar had his OnePlus One 64GB version plugged in bedside him on the bed as usual. Unfortunately, at around 9 a.m., a smell of fire woke him up and immediately, he recognized that the OnePlus One was on fire. It sounds horrible!
With no hesitation, Dugar threw the phone off the bed and thought what if he had not gotten up in time. Just like him, we feel scared to imagine what would have happened when looking at the pictures of the remainder.
Not long after that, Dugar called the local OnePlus customer care team and got the instruction of “Go to (the) service centre, if your replacement is approved, you’ll get a replacement.” However, things did not turn out to be what he expected. OnePlus refused to exchange the broken smartphone for a new one. The reason has been unknown to us, but according to many people, there can be a possibility that the phone was not naturally burnt because of the mistakes originated from itself. This reminds us of the Samsung Galaxy S III story in 2012.
In June, 2012, a Samsung Galaxy S III was also burned and then taken back to where it was bought. Nonetheless, they were so suspicious that they had to send it to Samsung. Of course, Samsung had a way to find out things. They asked a third party fire investigator to examine the burnt machine and the truth was unveiled. Specifically, a friend of the Samsung Galaxy S III user had dropped the phone in the toilet and wanted to make it dry by putting it in a microwave.
Back to our story, we cannot tell anything for sure now but wait for OnePlus’s explanation in the near future!
Xiaomi Mi edge leaked to replace Mi5 in October with 2K screen and 4GB RAM
There was a Xiaomi phone codenamed Xiaomi Arch spotted on the internet. Many people think that it can be the nickname they call Xiaomi Mi5 internally, like Microsoft calls Lumia 950 Talkman and Lumia 950XL Cityman months ago. But now, a source has hinted that that special phone can be Xiaomi Mi edge. Moreover, it can become a potential competitor to the well-known Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.
Xiaomi Mi edge leaked on the internet
If we remember, Xiaomi has Xiaomi Mi Note as a beautiful device with curved glass for the rear panel. Perhaps, they have thought carefully and come up with the idea of a product sporting a curved front panel. That somehow explains for many rumors about Xiaomi Mi edge spreading on the internet these days. Furthermore, we even see some suggesting Xiaomi Mi edge specs.
According to Weibo tipsters, Xiaomi Mi edge will probably feature a 5.2-inch 2K screen provided by Sharp, a Snapdragon 808 processor, a fingerprint scanner, a 16MP main camera and 3 or 4GB RAM. It seems that Xiaomi will choose the top specs for this special machine.
Not only the specs but also the Xiaomi Mi edge launch date has got rumored to be in October, which is quite strange since there is no Xiaomi Mi edge listed in the Xiaomi’s roadmap of 2015. As a result, it has made some people assume that the Xiaomi Mi edge is going to replace Xiaomi Mi5 or it is Xiaomi Mi5 with new interesting look. Is it possible?
In terms Xiaomi Mi edge price, though Xiaomi is known for producing smartphones with good specs and affordable prices, it is believed that the Mi edge will cost more than other Mi handsets, at least 2,500 Yuan (RM1,632). Then, what is your thinking about that price?
In conclusion, Xiaomi may be finding something new and creative for their machines. But, can a curved one succeed in bringing the company more money and fame? If the Mi edge is really coming, it definitely cannot avoid a comparison with the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. Let’s wait and see!
New Alcatel OneTouch Flash 2: Another great phone like Flash Plus?
After Lazada Malaysia announced that Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus could be pre-ordered, the phone has been receiving a lot of attention from consumers. It is easy to understand since this Alcatel’s product is so good both in terms of price and specs. So, if you like Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus and care about this brand’s upcoming handset as well, perhaps you will feel interested in Alcatel OneTouch Flash 2, a direct competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
Lately, we have noticed an official claim related to a new Alcatel phone from the manufacturer. It will be called Alcatel OneTouch Flash 2, which is obviously a successor to Alcatel OneTouch Flash launched in 2014.
Though there has been not much information about this coming smartphone to be revealed, basing on the advertising picture, we believe that OneTouch Flash 2 will be equipped with a 5-inch screen (instead of 5.5″ screen of the first generation) and a big LED flash supporting the rear camera. Besides, some people think the green color in the pic can mean something. Maybe it implies the new machine’s body will probably be made of some environment-friendly material. In additional, it is expected that Alcatel OneTouch Flash 2 will also feature an octa-core processor just like the octa-core MediaTek chip of the duo OneTouch Flash và OneTouch Flash Plus.

As we can see, the teaser gives us an important info that Alcatel OneTouch Flash 2 launch is going to happen on September 22, 2015. This is also the the period of time in which many new devices regardless of high, mid or low-end range will be debuted. Will OneTouch Flash 2 compete successfully with them?
Yes, the next gen of the OneTouch Flash can totally be able to do that if it has better specs but still with an affordable price. Reportedly, OneTouch Flash used to be considered as a direct rival to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo despite coming no stylus.
Well, what do you think about this new Alcatel smartphone?
Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5: 13MP and 3,000mAh for under RM840
John Sculley, a Apple’s former CEO, together with Robert Brunner, a designer, has recently introduced 2 new budget smartphones named Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5. Though they are announced by a former Apple’s CEO, it does not cost an arm and a leg. In fact, it is quite affordable with an amazingly good package of specs. Specifically, with less than $200 (RM837) for Obi Worldphone SF1 and SJ1.5, this is a very good deal for users.
Starting at $199 (RM833 as Obi Worldphone SF1 price in Malaysia), it features a 5” Full HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Other Obi Worldphone SF1 specs include 2/3GB RAM, 16/32GB ROM (expandable), and an octa core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip. As for the camera, there are a nice 13MP one with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper, much higher than Apple iPhone 6. The whole handset is powered by a 3,000mAh and we think that’s kind of generous enough.
Meanwhile, Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 is the cheaper of the two when costing just $129 (RM540). It comes with a 5” HD screen and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Besides, Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 sports 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM and a Mediatek MTK MT6580 quad-core 1.3GHz chipset. The rear camera is less powerful as the first one since it is only capable of 8 megapixels, but the selfie is remained with 5 megapixels, and even the battery capacity is also the same.
In terms of design, we will not talk much because pictures will do that for us. Let’s have a look at the following Obi Worldphone SJ1.5 hands-on pics. For Obi Worldphone SF1, we will update the images later 😉 .

ASUS, Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Apple phones join the quick charging test
At the moment, whenever there is a new smartphone released on the market, all the manufacturers mention the quick charging function they equipped their devices with. So, the question is:
Which one has the most impressive speed in the quick charging test?
Can you guess?
According to the tech page Tom’s Guide, they has just examined some smartphones’ quick charging ability. They consist of ASUS ZenFone 2, Samsung Galaxy S6, Google Nexus 6, Motorola Droid Turbo, Apple iPhone 6, LG G4 và OnePlus 2. We can see that those are famous and amazing phones from big firms. Then, if they have good results, it will make their brand more popular and convincing. Don’t you think?
In this test, the examiners have some fixed time points which are 5 minutes, 15 minutes, and 30 minutes. Besides, they also check the charging ability when the batteries of the above machines want to reach 80% and 100%.
In case of getting 100% of batt, we’ve got results as the following: Samsung Galaxy S6 takes 1 hour and 22 minutes, LG G4 1 hour and 36 minutes, Droid Turbo 1 hour and 47 minutes, Nexus 6 1 hour and 49 minutes, ZenFone 2 1 hour and 49 minutes, OnePlus 2 2 hours and 10 minutes and finally iPhone 6 1 hour and 49 minutes. It is obvious that the Samsung’s product does the best and iPhone 6 is the worst.

Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Plus spotted in live photos with 23MP camera
There are not many days left before the flagship Sony Xperia Z5 launch, but some live photos of this hot item has been suddenly unveiled lately. It is expected that both Sony Xperia Z5 và Xperia Z5 Compact will be introduced at the IFA 2015 next month.
According to the XperiaBlog, all the new pictures of the Sony Xperia Z5 were posted on Sony’s social network page. However, they were soon removed not long after that. Yet, we know that once something is on the internet, it will never just disappear. The pics have absolutely been saved and shared to others. That’s why we have them here on Price Pony 😀 .
Apart from that, we also got an interesting piece of information about Sony Xperia Z5 camera. It is capable of up to 23MP with 1/2.2″ sensor, f/1.8 aperture, improved autofocus and optical image stabilization. Furthermore, there is a high possibility that the cam will also be equipped with the same fast autofocus system we see on Sony Xperia M5. Though the live images can give us some hints about the Sony Xperia Z5 design, we still cannot identify the whole look of the machine. But one thing we notice is that maybe the design will not be very different from that of the current Sony Xperia Z3 Plus.
As we mentioned in many previous posts, Sony Xperia Z5 specs will probably include a 5.2-inch Full HD or QHD display with an octa-core Snapdragon 810. Strongly supporting the handset will be 3GB or 4GB. And Sony Xperia Z5 price is also predicted to be quite high. Nonetheless, people still care about it.
Not only the Sony Xperia Z5 but also its Premium or Plus version is spotted in some photos. Sony Xperia Z5 Plus used to be rumored to pack a 5.5″ 4K (2160p) screen and now it will sport the same 23MP shooter as the Z5. Despite no confirmation for the photos of the alleged Sony Xperia Z5 Plus (or Premium), the pictured device is quite convincing as it has the company’s design.
So, what do you feel about the above pictures? Are they good? Or are they…
Lenovo and Motorola will become one, under the Moto’s lead!
Lenovo has been receiving quite much attention recently since the debut of their new high-end device ZUK Z1. Though, many people think that they still cannot become a real giant in the mobile market. Moreover, it is said that Lenovo is likely to be taken over by Motorola. Is it possible?
A few weeks ago, Lenovo announced that they would rely on Motorola in terms of design and producing smartphones for Lenovo company. On Wednesday, a newspaper reported that according to Lenovo Mobile Group’s President, Lenovo Mobile and Motorola will become one and Lenovo will disappear. Besides, he also added that most organizational structure of Motorola will remain in place and will take the lead.
One more important thing is that products of Lenovo Mobile will be reduced till all models are released under the name Motorola. The new Motorola company (after combined with Lenovo) will depend much on their experience in researching and developing.
To explain for this decision, we can base on the Lenovo’s financial results in Q1 of 2015. It showed that Lenovo was just able to sold 16.2 million devices and there was a pre-tax loss of $292 million. Many people consider those issues as the trigger for Lenovo to decide to join Motorola, which is obviously a more recognizable brand.
Meanwhile, some others think that perhaps Lenovo has planned for that long before since Lenovo just bought Motorola in 2014, and then let it worked independently. On the other hand, in this H2 of 2015, Motorola has launched new Motorola Moto G (3rd generation) and Motorola Moto X Play. It seems like Motorola is getting back on track. So, if everything goes right as what they said, we will no longer see Lenovo phones on the shelves in the future.
Well, what do you think about this situation? Do you agree with this Lenovo’s decision? Tell us your opinions!
ASUS ZenFone 2016 – 7 products to continue their success story?
It seems like ASUS is cherishing big plans for 2016 to make it a giant in the mobile industry. So, what is ASUS thinking?
After some success in the first year of trying producing smartphones, ASUS then decided to put more efforts and focus on it. That led to the birth of ASUS ZenFone 2, which turned into a huge success this year. We can say that Zen 2 has a great effect on the smartphone industry since it was the first 4GB RAM device in the world and the pioneer of the trend 4GB RAM phones in 2015.
From then on, ASUS has got stimulus to dream big and this Taiwanese manufacturer does not hide their desire of being a real giant in the smartphone industry, and not only in Taiwan but also all over the world.
According to some sources, ASUS will continue their journey to the top by releasing series of new products in the future, including 6 or 7 ZenFone devices in 2016. Mr. Jerry Shen, ASUS’s CEO, also reveals that there will be a high-end machine in the ZenFone Deluxe series, another variant of ZenFone Selfie, two more versions of ZenFone Laser and one of the powerful ZenFone Max. Besides, he also mentions that some mid-range handsets belonging to the ZenFone Go series will get debuted next year.
ASUS ZenFone 2016 – 7 products to continue their success story?
The series ASUS announced as above have been all introduced in 2015 and most of them drew much attention from consumers. However, in order to get the status ASUS wants, we assume they will definitely apply more modern and more advanced technologies to their phones. And who knows, perhaps ASUS will be a pioneer again in a totally new amazing trend of 2016, like 5GB RAM of the ASUS ZenFone 3 concept 😉 . Let’s wait and see!
LG Nexus 5 (2015) specs: 5.2″ QHD, Snapdragon 808 and super cool selfie cam
After Huawei Nexus 2015 with 5.7-inch has been leaked in some live photos on the internet, now it seems to be LG Nexus 5’s turn. And thanks to the leak, we will also know more about about its specs.
Recently, there is some information about LG Nexus 5 (2015 version) shown on Weibo. Accordingly, the next LG Nexus smartphone released this year will sport a 5.2-inch QHD (1440 x 2560) screen with 565 ppi. The size is obviously smaller than the Huawei Nexus, but not bad at all in terms of specification since 2K resolution is the top feature at the moment. Besides, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core 1.8GHz chip together with 3GB RAM will be the main processor powering the whole phone. Until here, we have a feeling that the LG Nexus 5 (2015) specs are quite similar to the flagship LG G4 launched in the H1 of 2015.
Moreover, the rear camera of LG Nexus 5 is capable of 13MP, using Sony IMX 278 sensor without OIS support. On the front surface, there is a selfie-centric snapper with 5 megapixels (1944 x 2592) with f/2.0 and a few days ago, a Google staff used it to take a selfie. Interesting?
It is also said that the LG Nexus 5 selfie cam will be able to capture beautiful pictures even in the low light condition. Furthermore, it is said that the smartphone will be equipped with LG’s unique “Laser Auto Focus”function, which LG promises will help capture images “literally” faster than a blink of an eye. If so, that’s awesome!
On the other hand, it is also noted that other LG Nexus 5 (2015) specs will include a fingerprint sensor and the newest Android Marshmallow OS.
About the LG Nexus 5 (2015) launch, the anticipated date is in October, yet again, either Google or LG has not confirmed anything. So, we should wait a bit more. Hopefully, September will see more interesting details about 2 Nexus devices of Google.
Well, with such great specs, how much do you think that LG Nexus 5 (2015) price in Malaysia will be?
