Meizu Pro 5 to employ Ubuntu, coming to MWC 2016

Lately, a variant of Meizu Pro 5 running on Ubuntu OS has been spotted, promising to attract a a lot of people both inside and outside the country. Meizu can totally expect a rise in their sales this year. Moreover, Pro 5 was so well-known last year thanks to being the champion of the Antutu chart of Q3, 2015, even winning against big flagships like Samsung Galaxy S6. LG G5 VS HTC One M10: Many similarities but One M10 seems more…

Design-wise, both LG G5 and HTC One M10 are expected to sport a totally new looks, different from their predecessors. Speaking specifically, LG G5 is said to come with an all-metal unibody and a removable battery by pulling away its base and sliding out the batt tray. Meanwhile, HTC One M10 is leaked to be similar to HTC One A9, which means it will appear like Apple iPhone 6. And for LG G5 specs, there will be 5.6-inch screen, 64GB ROM, LG Optimus UX 5.0 UI, and a dual 20MP main shooter with laser autofocus, OIS, plus LED flash. In general, LG G5 seems to have more advantages, especially in taking photos. Nonetheless, not all details are revealed. So, we’d better wait for the result of this battle after HTC One M10 launch and LG G5 launch.

BlackBerry decides to switch completely to Android smartphones in 2016

Not long ago, BlackBerry introduced their first Android-based device BlackBerry Priv in India and also announced that the company would no longer use BlackBerry 10 operating system for their upcoming handsets. Instead, Google’s Android OS would be chosen to replace the BB10. It’s said that this is like a strategy aiming at reviving BlackBerry’s hardware department, which contributes a majority of their revenue all over the world.

“The PRIV device is essentially our transition to Android ecosystem. As we secure Android, over a period of time, we would not have two platforms, and may have only Android as a platform,” said Damian Tay, senior director, APAC product management of BlackBerry. However, he also emphasized that “for now, we have BB10 and Android platforms for our smartphones.” We guess after the success of BlackBerry Priv with Android OS and security at its core, the firm wants to follow the same route.

To explain more about the decision, Tay added that “we went for Android essentially for its app ecosystem. In addition, all the enterprise solutions that we have been doing have been cross-platform for a long time now. So it’s a natural progression towards Android.” But, simultaneously, they will continue selling BB10 models like Classic and Passport which are even more secure than Android ones.

Samsung Galaxy S7 will last much longer than the S6!

According to recent news, Samsung will also make Samsung Galaxy S7 battery non-removable like its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S6. To be honest, a lot of people, including us, have been not very happy with the company’s decision. But, when the following latest piece of information came out, we thought it would not be so bad. Eldar Murtazin, a well-known Russian blogger in the leaksphere, claimed that Galaxy S7 was able to play about 17 hours of video with full brightness.

At first, we were pretty shocked to know since basing on what Samsung Galaxy S6 can do (around 5 hours of screen-on time for regular usage), it was hard to believe. Yet, nothing is impossible, right?! In this case, its battery is taken into consideration. Nonetheless, despite sporting a larger cell compared to the S6, it still seems not enough for Galaxy S7 to reach such longevity. So, perhaps there will be special software optimization or new battery tech on board to help do that.

On the other hand, some think it can be the 2nd-gen 14nm FinFET process in the chip Samsung is going to equip their flagship with, which sounds more… realistic. Lumia smartphone: Reporting a huge drop in Q4 2015

According to Microsoft, in the last quarter of 2015, the company only sold 4.5 million Lumia smartphones around the world. Just to give you a brief comparison, in the same quarter of 2014, the company sold 10.5 million units of Lumia phones. This means Microsoft’s sales has dropped around 50% compared to the same time one year prior. Moreover, with latest IDC reports showing that, a total of around 400 million smartphones were shipped worldwide in Q4, 2015, making Microsoft’s market share turns out only over 1%.

At the same time, another source is claiming that, Microsoft will be launching Lumia 650 smartphone next month at MWC 2016. And this phone will be the first and last Lumia-branded phone of the year. The figure speaks its own voice: Lumia smartphones are no longer popular among users’ choices nowadays, as everyone prefers Android and iPhone mostly. Microsoft says that they will switch to focusing on Surface smartphones instead.
