Meizu has just announced Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu version, which sports so many top specifications. It is also considered as the world’s strongest Ubuntu handset now…
Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu edition comes with high-end chip, beast camera, massive RAM and…
As we know, “Ubuntu is an open source software platform that runs everywhere from the smartphone, the tablet and the PC to the server and the cloud.” Besides bringing such a good option to PCs and laptops, Canonical (company that produces Ubuntu) has also been able to transfer it into the mobile market. More specifically, recently, they have worked with Meizu to release a new Meizu PRO 5 running on Ubuntu OS.
No doubt that this Ubuntu phone will become the most powerful device so far because the original PRO 5 itself is already a beast. It packs an excellent Samsung Exynos 7420 chip (which is used for many Samsung flagships), large 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64 GB of ROM (expandable up to 128 GB), and a big 5.7-inch Full HD AMOLED display. Under the hood, a decent 3,050mAh battery is put in charge of fueling the whole machine and equipped with mCharge 2.0 technology (65% in 30 min.).
In addition to Meizu PRO 5 specs, there are a dual SIM, a fantastic 21 MP rear camera supporting f/2.2, phase detection and laser autofocus, plus dual LED flash, a 5 MP f/2.0 front snapper, Hi-Fi audio tech, a fingerprint scanner built in its physical home button and a Type-C 1.0 port. Wow, those features will bring you great experience in using!
Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu price and availability
Due to the appearance of Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu, there would be no Ubuntu smartphone able defeat it, at least for now. According to our source, the PRO 5 will be available for pre-order during Mobile World Congress 2016. Though, Meizu PRO 5 price has not been revealed yet, but hopefully around $450. Samsung to unveil 14nm Exynos 7870 for mid-rangers
Samsung is going to release a chip called Exynos 7870 used for mid-range smartphones. Upcoming products seem more powerful but still affordable…
Thanks to Samsung Exynos 7870, mid-range phones can have 16MP rear and front cams?
Samsung is not only a smartphone producer but also a processor manufacturer. Last year, they launched Exynos 7420, which is known as the company’s leading 14nm FinFET chip and used for high-end devices such as the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge Plus, etc. That was 2015. This year, the firm has announced a similar 14nm chipset, yet for mid-range handsets. It is named Samsung Exynos 7870.
Speaking more specifically, the Exynos 7870 consists of eight 1.6GHz Cortex-A53 CPU cores and acts as an energy efficient chip for the mid-rangers, according to Samsung. In other words, moving to 14nm manufacturing is to improve performance and power efficiency. Samsung reports that their 7870 processor consumes approximately 30 percent less power than other machines packing 28nm chipset based on High-k Metal Gate process tech.
In addition, the Exynos 7870 supports high-end modem, display and camera components. To be specific, Category 6 LTE modem with 2 band carrier aggregation and speeds at 300Mbps download, and capability of 1080p 60fps video playback on displays with up to 1920×1200 resolution are included. Moreover, 7870 can come with 16MP rear and front cameras or dual 8MP ones. Cool, huh?!
When will we get a handset run by Samsung Exynos 7870?
So, Samsung not only has Exynos 8890 for premium flagships but also gives mid-rangers a great Exynos 7870. Accordingly, Samsung Exynos 7870 will be available in the next months, and it is very likely that we will see mid-range smartphones launched with this chip in the H2 of 2016. Perhaps, Samsung products will be the first, yet, let’s wait and see! Now, share with us your opinions about this new processor by Samsung!
ASUS Z1 Titan vs Sony Xperia Play Ultra: Which one is the best gaming phone?
Today, let’s have a look at our two smartphone stars: ASUS Z1 Titan and Sony Xperia Play Ultra. They are all designed as gaming handsets with strong appearances and hardware. But, which one is the best? Check it out now!
ASUS Z1 Titan vs Sony Xperia Play Ultra: Perfect for playing games and…
First of all, you may want to look at their designs. The Play Ultra seems like a real games console with a unibody aluminum case and a sliding gamepad. Meanwhile, ASUS Z1 Titan comes with a metal frame reminding us of the gaming laptop series ASUS ROG. To be honest, the Titan is more attractive than the Ultra, yet, of course, it is hard to say since each person will have their own interest. We may see Titan as the king but it may be the Ultra to you. Though, specification comparison will be different. ASUS Z1 Titan specs and Sony Xperia Play Ultra specs will show the real champion.
As you know, the Titan is very powerful, just like its name, thanks to boasting up to 6GB of RAM, 256GB of ROM, a Snapdragon 830 processor, and a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED 2K display. With just those basic features, this ASUS model has already shown it can do any task or run any game you want. For the rest, Titan also sports Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, a 3,500mAh battery, and a combo of 16MP rear plus 5MP front camera. Well, despite not being the best specs, they are still decent to give you good experience in using.
As for the Sony Xperia Play Ultra, it packs 4GB of RAM, 128GB of ROM, a deca-core chip, and a 5.2-inch Ultra HD Super OLED 3D screen. Although the Ultra does not own 6GB RAM, but 4GB is also very strong for any heavy use. Besides, it’s got 5G LTE connectivity, Android 6.0 OS, a huge 4,000mAh battery, Xreality Pro, Motionflow XR, IP67 protection against water and dust, and a fantastic 21MP main/8MP selfie shooter set. So, except for the RAM capacity, the Ultra is in fact more powerful than the Titan.
ASUS Z1Titan vs Sony Xperia Play Ultra: Price and availability
According to our source, ASUS Z1 Titan price is likely to be around $400 while Sony Xperia Play Ultra price may range from $600 to $700. This is not strange at all because Sony products are usually considered as premium ones and ASUS devices are more affordable. Anyway, it’s still a tough choice to pick out the winner here. Can you help us?

Sony Xperia Z6 camera will have a brand new sensor by Sony
Sony has just announced a new Exmor R sensor for smartphone’s camera called IMX318. It will enable the handset to get up to 22.5 megapixels. And Sony Xperia Z6 camera is very likely to own that one!
Sony’s new camera sensor for smartphones: 22.5MP and more
When there has been a lot of information related to other flagship phones such as Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, HTC One M10, etc. released these days, Sony said just a few about theirs. Well, but when they reveal something, it’s amazing. Lately, the company has unveiled a new phone camera sensor which is more advanced than what we’ve known. It will be smaller than current versions, but produce better images with less motion blur, and much faster and more accurate autofocusing.
Speaking more specifically, it is a new Exmor RS sensor named IMX318) with 22.5 megapixels. Furthermore, it is said to be the first one “equipped with built-in high-speed autofocus”, which is that it can lock focus in just 0.03 second, and enhance video capture thanks to a built-in 3-axis electronic image stabilization enabling handheld shots to remain steady. Say, we bet upcoming products of Sony will be more and more powerful thanks to this tech.
Besides, new super-fast autofocus was also mentioned. The firm introduced a new “Hybrid AF” system whose function is to combine PDAF with contrast detection autofocus. It helps the sensor to lock focus at only 0.017s even while shooting videos at 60 frames-per-second. That is COOL!
When will this high tech come to life?
According to the source, Sony wants their new Exmor RS sensor to officially work from May, 2016. No doubt Sony’s next flagship smartphones, including Sony Xperia Z6, as well as other manufacturers’ devices will be able to employ this high tech soon. And we – the users, will have chance to gain greater experience in taking photos while the Japanese giant “puts its stamp on the mobile photography market this year”.
