Huawei Honor 7i vs Lenovo ZUK Z1: the battle you just CAN’T miss

We have just seen the debuts of 2 new smartphones in the last few days and they have brought some good impressions to the public. Those guys all have some special features to stay in people’s minds. So, in order to see how different they are and which one is better than the other, we would like to take a look at them in terms of designs, specs and prices. Then, tell us which is your winner!

HUAWEI HONOR 7i VS LENOVO ZUK Z1

Firstly, it is about the design. We can see that ZUK (backed by Lenovo) has chosen a safer way to design their ZUK Z1 with a metal frame together with glass material. That is quite a common look we usually spot on some flagship smartphones. Meanwhile, Huawei Honor 7i decided to stand out by getting rid of the the front-facing camera and adding a flipping one, instead. It means that with just one shooter, you can use it to take quality photos or selfies whenever you like.

Moreover, Huawei Honor 7i also sports a fingerprint sensor on one side of the device while that of ZUK Z1 is placed in its home button, which is what we usually see in phones on the market nowadays. ZUK Z1 can totally be proud of its modern USB Type-C port because Honor 7i does not have it. So, chin up ZUK Z1 and congrats Honor 7i on your interesting design!

Next, we’ll come to the specs, comparison. Basing on the following table, you can notice the differences more clearly:

Huawei Honor 7i Specs

Lenovo ZUK Z1 Specs

Dimensions 143.2 x 71.9 x 8.5 mm 155.7 x 77.3 x 8.9 mm
Weight 157 g 175 g

Front: 8 MP

Battery Li-Po 3100 mAh Non-removable Li-Po 4100 mAh
Color White, Gold White, Dark Gray
SIM Dual SIM Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)

Well, it is not very hard to recognize the differences between Huawei Honor 7i and Lenovo ZUK Z1. If you care about the screen size, definitely ZUK Z1 is a better choice, for it comes with 5.5 inches. Nonetheless, the pixel density of Honor 7i is a bit higher that that of ZUK Z1 despite the same resolution.

About the processor, they both use Qualcomm chips but the models are not the same. ZUK Z1’s is SD805 (2.5GHz) which is faster than Honor 7i’s SD616 (1.5GHz). Though, they all boast 3GB RAM, which is much powerful than other 1GB or 2GB RAM phones.

As for the camera combo, we have to say that the 8MP front-facing snapper on ZUK Z1 is amazing already, even higher than Xiaomi Mi Note Pro or Sony Xperia Z3 Plus. Yet, if compared to Huawei Honor 7i in this case, the new ZUK smartphone has to step back a bit because its rival owns an up to 13MP selfie cam thanks to the flipping trick. As a result, selfie lovers will have to think a lot about choosing one of them.

Finally in this part, we would like to mention the battery capacity. It is obvious that Lenovo ZUK Z1 has better advantage due to its 4,100mAh. This can be the decisive feature that draws lots of buyers’ attention.

So, that’s all about the specs. How about the price?

Specifically, Lenovo ZUK Z1 kind of surprises people with the affordable Lenovo ZUK Z1 price 1,800 Yuan (about RM1,195) while the Huawei Honor 7i price is even lower: 1,599 Yuan (about RM1,062). Therefore, it seems like Huawei Honor 7i is a good option if your budget is just around  RM1,100.

Of course, that’s our opinion. They have their own strengths and weaknesses, so we need to carefully consider our needs and priorities. Hope that you can pick out the best one for you!

Huawei out Huawei Honor 7i with flipping camera for RM 1K

Recently, a new Huawei Honor machine has been launched in Beijing. And it is the Huawei Honor 7i that we heard about a lot of times a few weeks ago.

As what we informed you, this is a unique smartphone due to its camera. It appeared on TENAA with the model name ATH-ALoo. The smartphone was said to bring users interesting experience with a sliding camera. Specifically, it could slide up to show a front-facing shooter with an extra Xenon flash, which would allow you to take beautiful selfies in a whole new way.

But that was before the Huawei Honor 7i launch date. Things have been changed a bit. Honor 7i actually comes with a flipping, not sliding, snapper. Anyhow, it’s also…awesome, right?!

Compared to Huawei Honor 7, Huawei Honor 7i body is more rounded and made of plastic. The most highlighted feature is its flipping Sony 13MP f/2.0 cam, equipped with sapphire protection and dual LED flash. Interestingly, this cam can flip 180 degrees to become a front cam. You will still have the same 13MP sensor to capture anything you like.

Furthermore, Honor 7i has another special selling point you need to know. It is the fingerprint scanner built on one side of the phone, not on the back or in the home button as usual. That also makes Huawei Honor 7i the “industry’s first” phone sporting the “smallest fingerprint modules.” However, some people have pointed out that such a fingerprint scanner (FC) did exist before Honor 7i. And they were implying ZTE Nubia Z9 Exclusive version, whose FC is placed on its power button and volume rockers on one side of the handset.

In terms of other Huawei Honor 7i specs, there are a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display with 423 ppi, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, and a 3,000mAh battery. Besides, you can choose either 2GB RAM plus 16GB ROM or 3GB RAM plus 32GB ROM edition. The whole phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and Emotion UI 3.1, and supports a dual SIM, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB.

As for the Huawei Honor 7i price, you can find it right away in China with a price tag of 1,599 Yuan (approximately RM1,030) for 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM via China Mobile, but 1,699 Yuan (approximately RM1,094) via China Telecom and China Unicom for the same variant. The 3GB RAM + 32GB ver is available at 1,899 Yuan (approximately RM1,223) via those 3 mobile carriers. Yet, so far Huawei has not announced any plans to release Huawei Honor 7i on the international markets.

To recap, we are quite interested in this new Huawei Honor device and can’t wait to test its flipping camera and fingerprint scanner on the phone’s side. Hope that Huawei Honor 7i will soon arrive here in Malaysia!
