It seems like the the history of using AMOLED screens for smartphone was started by Samsung, especially when they decided to equip their high-end machines with this kind of display. Many brands such as Motorola, Nokia, and Blackberry also have many devices coming with AMOLED. How about Chinese smartphones?

Actually, we have just seen the Meizu MX5 sporting AMOLED panel recently. We thought that might be because most Chinese companies do not like it. However, perhaps we have to change our mind since the IHS Technology Research Director, Kevin Wang, has claimed that more different manufacturers will consider AMOLED for smartphones next year.

Firstly, it is reported that Apple can use AMOLED tech for their smartphones and/or tablets in 2016, but the panels probably will not come from Samsung. Secondly, we have Huawei has already begun applying AMOLED displays to their products. Furthermore, one of the well-known brands in China – Xiaomi, is getting ready to choose AMOLED for their handsets. So, it seems like the AMOLED history will have more names from various, big smartphone firms in 2016.

But, that could be the story for the next year. In this half of 2015, though we have many flagships on the way like Xiaomi Mi5, Apple iPhone 6S, etc., they are not likely to come with AMOLED, based on the rumors and teasers released on the internet. Hopefully, we will soon see this awesome kind of display more often on the mobile market!

Not long ago, the info claimed that Meizu MX5 Pro was to be abandoned made a lot of consumers in general and Meizu fans in particular feel disappointed. However, one good piece of news has been released not long after that, mentioning the company has been focusing on a true high-end flagship. It could be launched at the end of the year, or could be a flagship bomb for the beginning of the next year. Anyhow, we are going to give you the very first information of that device.

According to a recent leak, Meziu is said to be working on a new high-end flagship phone equipped with a glass and metal body. Though the new Meizu is also reported to hit the market in this H2 of 2015 and we also hope it will happen, it should have enough time to be fully developed. Normally, a smartphone needs about 8 months until being available on sale.

Despite of lacking many important things about the new Meizu flagship specs, there is a hint for its price tag. The new Meizu flagship could go on sale with a retail price for more than 3,000 Yuan (RM1,893). That does not seem like what Meizu usually does with their phones. So, we assume that the coming handset has to sport all the TOP features such as 2K screen, 4GB RAM, 20MP cam, huge battery, etc., and premium design to make it worth more than 3,000 Yuan (RM1,893).

On the other hand, we also feel that this is quite risky since Meizu will have to compete with other flagships like Xiaomi Mi Note Pro costing under 3,000 Yuan, Xiaomi Mi5, or the premium Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Sony Xperia Z5.

Upcoming OPPO R7

Basing on many good feedback from OPPO’s fans, the company has decided to add the OPPO R7 to Malaysia market even though the company has just launched the R7 Plus and R7 Lite a month ago. However, there just will be some limited editions to be available on the 12th August 2015.

With the impressive sales in China up to one million devices were sold in last month July 2015, OPPO confidently believed that this sales number will be happened again.

OPPO R7 Specs

Talking about the OPPO R7 Specs, the handset equipped with the 5-inch FULL HD Display with 1920 x 1080 resolution at 445 pixels per inch. It will run the Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor, has 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage with expandable memory via microSD card up to 128 GB but this will occupy the nano sim slot on the dual SIM handset.

The OPPO R7 battery capacity will be 2320 mAh with the VOOC flash charging enabled. For shooting, it supports the 13-megapixel for rear camera and 8-megapixel for the front-facing camera. For sure, the camera will come with OPPO unique camera’s features.

We all know that Samsung is going to hold their Unpacked event on August 13, 2015. Recently, the latest leaks has caused a doubt for everybody about the presence of USB TYPE C and  waterproof ability of the two upcoming high-end smartphones the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact of Sony 

As we can see that the two versions of Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact probably have attracted a lot of attention to smartphone users, even though they still have not officially released. Just few days ago, it is rumored that these two handset would have the fingerprint security built right under the power button / screen lock. Moreover, they are rumored to have the water-resistant ability as well as the Sony Xperia Z3+ version.

Nevertheless, according to the latest update information, none of either Sony Xperia Z5 or Z5 Compact will be equipped the USB-Type-C as before. Instead of that they will still utilze the traditional micro USC connection.

Hearing about this information, people may feel more skeptical about the dust – water resistant abilities of the two devices.

The reason for these doubts is because there have been some latest leaked images shows the micro USB port on Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact not using the flaps. When mentioning the very first 4GB RAM smartphone in the world, we know that it is ASUS ZenFone 2. To be specific, ASUS ZenFone 2 has many variants, but 3 of them come with 4GB RAM and 3 options over the internal storage: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB (recently released). If you remember, ASUS also has a Zen 2 worth 1,299 Yuan (RM822) and equipped with the same 16GB ROM, 1.8GHz Z3560 chip, 5.5″ FHD, but only 2GB RAM. So, it is quite sure that most buyers will choose the better RAM. Then, what will ASUS do with the ZenFone 2 2GB RAM and other lower variants? Prediction is that some significant price cuts might be seen soon the future!

With this new price new supper affordable price, ASUS ZenFone 2 4GB RAM will set a new record for itself as well as other brands such as Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei, etc.

About Everdisplay & 4K AMOLED Display

Everdisplay – a display manufacturer in China has just introduced a 6-inch 4K AMOLED display with 734ppi pixel density. Currently, the highest pixel density on the mobile device is said to be the Samsung Galaxy S6 with 5.1-inch QHD AMOLED screen (reach up to 577ppi pixel density).

At the end of 2014, the Everdisplay manufacturer began mass producing 5-inch 720 AMOLED displays. Followed by, the company continue to brought out the 5.5-inch and 6-inch panels for mobile devices, along with 1.4-inch 400×400 circular AMOLED for the wearable market, and 8-inch AMOLED for the automobile market.

4K Display For Devices

According to Everdisplay company, they have not intended to apply the new 4K resolution display for smartphones, instead of that the company will focus on virtual reality devices (VR).

The company shared that the distance from our eyes to VR displays  is  much closer than to the screen of smartphone. For this reason, VR need higher screen resolution.

Up to now, Everdisplay still has not revealed the specific time to bring the AMOLED 4K panel into production. However, the Everdisplay’s 4K screen (734ppi) is still not a most impressive panel to be introduced. In this early year, Sharp has launched an IGZO with 4K resolution and pixel density up to 806ppi.

Samsung even claimed to be ready for producing a 11K display, one of their coming products will have up to 2250ppi pixel density. This is such an incredible figure at the present moment.

Have you ever wondered how long your smartphone can “survive”? I mean how many months or years do you usually use one phone for?

So, we have found an interesting report about this issue in Korea, a country where smartphone market develops very fast. We notice that most consumers there use a phone for just 1 year and 2 months and then replace it with another.

Specifically, Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) has conducted a survey with 10,172 people more than 6 years old and 9,413 people (92.4%) said that they had a mobile phone. When the participants were classified in to groups by age, it was reported that Korean teens would change their phone every 10 months. That is the shortest period of time for a “smartphone‘s lifespan”. Those between the teenage age and 40s switched to a new model after 14 – 17 months. People in the 50s made it longer with 21 months, 60s and 70s bought a new one every 29 months and 34 months, respectively.

Another case is basing on the brand. Apple users replaced their old phones after 15 months, while Samsung and LG users did it after 14 months and 13 months, respectively.

Well, what do you think about the results? Somehow we think that many new handsets have been introduced these days maybe due to the large number of demands for changing phones. Yet, who knows? Maybe it is because so many good devices equipped with strong specs and beautiful designs are available now that people just cannot resist them. Anyhow, 1 year and 2 months to use a mobile seems kind of short since a typical one can last for more than 2 years.

Today, we are going to give you a review of one of their smart watches: No.1 Sun S2.

No.1 Sun S2 is one of the new products of this company that aim more towards beauty and luxury. For the Sun in its name, this means No.1 Sun S2 display has a round shape, instead of normal square shaped screen on earlier and other smart watches.

So, just like the name, we can see that the round shape of No.1 Sun S2 look like the Sun, and the details on the bezel ring symbolize the sunrays. The company really sticks to their concept but still gives No.1 Sun S2 users feeling of a real watch. As for the material, the watch is made completely of metal, so at least you won’t feel like you’re wearing a cheap smart device.

Taking a closer look, we see that there are up to 3 watch faces to interact with. One is a traditional clock face with Roman numbers, while the second is Arabic numbers. You can change the watch band between stainless steel or leather. Moreover, on the right side of the dial you will see a button, which acts as a camera. The No.1 Sun S2 camera is only 1.3MP though, and of course you cannot expect much from a smart watch to capture photo. Some users may wonder why they put such a camera that probably won’t be used there.

Like most other Android wear, this smart watch needs to be connected to a smart phone in order to get its features to the fullest. When you swipe along the screen, the interface changes between the three watch faces.

Nonetheless, besides the good points, the watch also has some inconvenient things to note. Since No.1 Sun S2 display is a touch screen, of course you need to use your fingers to tap and draw apps. That would cost a lot of time, considering it is a smart watch. Moreover, it needs to pair with your smartphone for best function, and you have to download an app.
