A few days ago, there was a leak about the Huawei Honor V9 on Weibo, however the phone has a different name back then so no one is sure about it. But today, Huawei has official announced the release date of the Honor V9 with a teaser image. According to the image, the phone will be unveiled on February 21, just one week before the 2017 Mobile World Congress (MWC). For now, there are no additional images or details about the phone design, but we were able to get a hold on the list of specs this device is going to have.

In terms of Huawei Honor V9 specs, it features a 5.7″ 2K IPS-NEO LCD display screen, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Huawei Honor V9 will come in two variants: one version with 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, the other with 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM. Huawei Honor V9 cameras are another notable specs. The phone is mounted with dual cameras 12MP + 2MP on the back with phase detection autofocus features and dual LED flash. The cameras are capable of recording 2160p@30fps and 1080p@60fps videos. The front camera is 8MP f/2.4, capable of taking 1080p videos.

Huawei Honor V9 is powered by a Kirin 960 octa-core (4 x 2.4GHz & 4 x 1.8GHz, along with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. Other features include a non-removable 3900mAh battery without fast battery charging technology. The phone also has a fingerprint scanner on the back and will support USB Type-C. The phone’s storage is expandable storage up to 256GB via SIM 2 slot. It will run on the latest Android 7.0 version with Huawei Emotion UI 5.0.

Well, we already knew that the phone will be unveiled on February 21, so we suspect it will go on sale immediately after that. Obviously, it will be sold in China first, but other countries may have to wait for a while though. As for Huawei Honor V9 price, the phone is expected to be sold around $335 ~ RM. 1490.

Samsung has been on a string of bad luck for quite a while. Today, one of Samsung’s facility caught fire and local authorities suspected Note 7 batteries are the cause.

Samsung’s facility in China caught fire: Note 7 batteries to be blame

On February 8, a small fire has broken out in Samsung’s SDI facility in China, causing disturbance in the area. After a short period after the fire broke out, the local fire department of Tianjin showed up with 110 firefighters and 19 fire engines, quickly took care of the incident. According to the local authorities “Material that caught fire was lithium batteries inside the production workshops and some half-finished products.”

Last year was a hard time for Samsung after their Note 7 incident. Samsung was even forced to stop the production and started a recall program for 2.5 million Note 7 devices. In 2017, the Korean company released a report for the cause of Note 7 explosion, however many people were not really convinced about Samsung’s answer. Samsung then promised to apply better procedures to stop this from happening again.

The accident comes as a really bad news for Samsung and all their fans. Luckily, the fire was put out without any casualties reported. This accident has raised many questions about the safety of Samsung new devices, especially upcoming flagships like Samsung Galaxy S8.

Samsung Galaxy S8: Will it explode?

Well, we can’t say for sure if the Galaxy S8 is safe to use or not. However, Samsung has reassured everyone about this accident and stated that the company doesn’t plan to use inferior batteries for the Galaxy S8. Samsung Galaxy S8 is said to be revealed at Samsung Unpacked event on March 29, and the device will be on sale around April 21.
