HTC ONE (E8) Price in Malaysia for 1445 RM ?

HTC Mobile

The HTC ONE E8 is launched officially now, it comes with a lighter plastic body, a 13 MP Rear Camera and most importantly much cheaper then the HTC ONE (M8). The HTC ONE (E8) still keeps the 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal memory. Also the internal hardware, Boom Sound Speakers and 5’inch display is the same. The only real change is the change of the Duo Ultrapixel Camera set to a a 13MP BSI f/2.2 unit and it gets a lighter plastic cover. For the Launch in China the E8 comes with Dual Sim Slots. On the first slot we get 3G/4G LTE support, the second slot is for 2G connectivity.

HTC ONE E8 VS M8 VS S5

To review the E8 against other high end smartphones in Malaysia we compared them in above picture. Because of the new plastic cover of the HTC One (E8) it gets 15 grams lighter then the One M8 but its gets thicker 05.mm. Also the E8 doesnt have IR Blaster and MHL connectivity, which you get on the One M8.

Here some more images of the new plastic based E8 HTC mobile.

htc one e8 1

htc one e8 2

htc one e8 3

Now lets come to the most interesting point for a lot of us, the HTC ONE (E8) price in Malaysia. The E8 will sell for 2800 yuan in China. That would be 1,445 RM in Malaysia and nearly 1000 RM cheaper then the HTC ONE (M8) with the metal case. For this price would you choose the HTC ONE E8 or stay with the M8? For this specs and a price of 1445 RM the E8 is definitely very attractive and can fight even the Oppo Find and One Plus One.

Xiaomi Mi 3 vs Samsung S5 ulasan Malaysia

XIAOMI MI POWER BANK SALES IN LESS THEN TWO MINUTES

This Information is provided to you by Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site Mi Power Bank Sales 3

This News has potential for a lot of frustration. Xiaomi Malaysia sold it third batch of 5000 MI Powerbanks in less than two minutes. In fact, the official numbers from opening of Flash Sale to Sell Out are 1 minute and 2 seconds. This means that this third Flash Sale beat the prior ones by far and as well that the Mi Powerbank with 10.400 mAh is still very popular. Probably there will be a lot of angry and frustrated Xiaomi Fans right now.

Mi Power Bank 10400

While last sale there were a lot of server side issues, this time it seems that at least there were no technichal issues. Trusting the experience described on the fangpage it seems that this time the site was improved a lot, and the customers did not need to refresh the page constantly to get their orders in.

Angry Xiaomi Fans
Still, incredibly to believe but all 5000 units of the Powerbank were sold out in less than 2 minutes. We had a look at the Xiaomi Facebook Fanpage and like last time a lot of angry users complaining on Xiaomi about their frustration. Many indicating that this limiting sales numbers maybe a cheap Marketing Trick.

Xiaomi Powerbank Sold out
Last sale already showed that the Flash Sales can be manipulated. While a lot of angry fans could not buy at all, others managed to buy multiple units at once. These were able to order many times in short time and stocking up to sell later at higher prices. It might very well be that more people found out how to game the Xiaomi Order System, including direct links, and ordereded multiple items.

One thing is very clear if you followed the whole Xiaomi Launch. While Xiaomi was very popular in the beginning, especially because of their attractive pricing, now they start hurting their brand. Especially the relationship to their fans, gets damaged by these Marketing tactics. Xiaomi should really learn from the Samsung Social Media Debacel.

Lets see how Malaysia will react and hopefully they will voice their apologies soon.

LG G3 Coming to Malaysia – Officially confirmed by LG

LG confirms Malaysia Launch

This Information is provided to you by Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

LG announced the G3 yesterday officially. The LG G3 is definitely on the top end of Smartphones. It comes with 801 Snapdragon at 8.5 Ghz 5.5 ” inch QHD display and a 13MP Camera with Laser Autofocus and OIS+. This means that the LG G3 will have the same resolution as an MAcbook 27inch. While this is a great smartphone, in the past LG has been very quiet in Malaysia. Top End Smartphones like the LG G2, Nexus 5, or LG G2 Pro and LG G FLex have never been launched officically. In Malaysia you had to buy imported ware, or more popular known as AP sets, to get LG smartphones.

lg g3 camera sample

Now it seems that LG will change their strategy and launch the G3 officially in Malaysia soon. This was first discovered through a tweet from LGElectronics Twitter account and confirmed by LG officials later. The launch of the LG G3 in Malaysia would definitely heat up the competition. Specs wise they are definitely the best smartphone at the moment. We need to wait for their official pricing in Malaysia and when it will actually come here to be able to tell more.

Thank you @Jackson_XXI for the tip via Twitter!

Price Comparison Websites in Malaysia

E-Commerce is on the rise in South East Asia and in Malaysia as well with strong international players like Lazada or Rakuten and local ones like Mobile Mega Mall. As well Electronic Forums like Lowyat are incredibly powerful. At the same time as E-Commerce, Price Comparison Sites are growing in Malaysia.

Price Comparison Malaysia

Price Comparison in general compare e-commerce prices among different retailers to find the best price for the customers. This business model is very strong in the United States and Europa and growing in Asia. In the best case those platforms are independent and act as an agent for the customer in saving money and finding the best products. Most of them not only show the best prices but also product information, reviews and shop ratings. At the same time they are a marketing platform for the various e-commerce shops and sending traffic their way.

The three strongest players in Malaysia are PricePanda, PriceMe and us, Oizoioi Malaysia. PricePanda is backed by Rocket Internet (Lazada, Zalora, Foodpanda) and has more then 3 Million USD funding). While PricePanda is the strongest player in terms of traffic at the moment, Oizoioi and PriceMe are second and comparable in terms of traffic.

Price Panda Referal

While we were doing some research it turns out that customers might be a bit cautious when visiting sites who are founded by the same big company, rocket internet, which is the very opposite of independence. As you can see in the above screenshot Most of the referring traffic to PricePanda comes from Lazada, so far so good. If you have a look at the outgoing traffic, that is where the trouble starts. As you can see by far most of the outgoing traffic goes back to Lazada as well. As we know by now Lazada and PricePanda are part of the same group Rocket Internet. We are not saying that they are actively cheating, but consumers should be definitely be careful when shopping there.

Overall we hope that our service brings valuable information to our customers and hope to improve and grow market in Malaysia. We will always stay independent and try do the best for our customers.

Crazy Flash Sale of Xiaomi Sells in less then 15 Minutes

Xiaomi MI3 Sold out

This Information is provided to you by Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

Today another round of Xiaomi Sales ended and this weeks batch of Xiaomi Mi3’s and Mi Powerbanks was even faster sold out. Like the last time the 10,400 mAh Powerbanks for 36 RM sold out faster then the smartphone, but all 6000 Mi 3 and 5000 Mi Power Banks sold out in under 15 minutes.

PowerBank out of Stock

While Xiaomi is celebrating this as a major success for the Brand we had a deeper look on their Facebook page and forums and their seem to be a lot of angry customers around. It seems that Xiaomi did not full recover from the technichal issues, which shifted the sales to today. A lot customers on Xiaomi’s Facebook Fanpage complain that the site took a long time to load, and when it loaded, all the MI Powerbanks have been sold out already.

xiaomi facebook

It seems that a lot of customers from the first sale were better prepared this time. We can see a lot of people on the forum and the Malaysia Fan Page that purchased the Mi 3 and Mi Power Banks several times over, resulting in some very disappointed other customers.

xiaomi malaysia sold out

By now Xiaomi has not communicated anything official on their Facebook Fanpage. They should be fast with apologizing, before this whole thing turns out in a Social Media Disaster like for Samsung. A lot of people might call Xiaomi’s Marketing Strategy of Scarcity very clever but its essentially very dangerous at the same time.

In Moments like today, when things go wrong and a lot of customers cannot buy their favorite Xiaomi Mi 3 or Powerbank, emotions might as well turn against Xiaomi. And while Xiaomi has communicated that there will be another Sales round very soon, a Strategy of artifically putting scarcity on Sales might very well turn against the so popular Xiaomi Malaysia very fast. Customers in Malaysia are after all smart enough.

What do you think about this? Please tell us in the comments

Who is Smartphone King 2014? LG G3 Vs S5 Vs HTC ONE (M8) Vs Find 7

This Information is provided to you by Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

Today LG launched its long awaited Flagship Phone the G3. The LG G2 was one of the most underrated smartphones in 2013, with better specs and yet cheaper price then HTC ONE or S4. The LG G3 is spec packed and promises to play on the very upper end of the smart phone segment. Just like HTC, LG has been signifcantly less popular then Samsung or Apple on the premium end and have lot of competition on the lower price segment from Huawei and Xiaomi.

LG G3 Malaysia

Can the G3 be a game changer for LG and put them finally back in the sunlight? Like Samsung, LG is not popular for its amazing design, so it all comes down to the G3 Specs and Hardware. Lets compare the LG G3 vs Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2 and the chinese Flagship Killer Oppo Find 7 and the OnePlus One.

LG G3 vs S5 vs Xperia Z2
As you can see in the Comparison above, the LG G3 is definitely on of the Elite Android Smartphones. All smartphones above sport the quad-core 801 Snapdragon with Adreno 330 GPU, the strongest CPU on the market, although the Z2 has a slower variant. Because the Oppo Find 7 is not available, not even in China, the LG G3 is the only smartphone to have a QHD display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. THat is the same resolution as a 27 inch Apple Macbook. The G3 will come in two different base versions, 2GB of Ram and 16GB internal memory and 3GB of Ram paired with 32 GB of internal memory.

Always a key feature to differentiate between smartphones is the camera and picture quality. Normally all brands try different strategies to position themselves in the top spot with the camera. The HTC One (M8) uses two different sensors above each other on the back, one a Ultrapixel 4MP camera and one a depth sensor, to decide which obects are in foreground and which in background. LG is using an 13MP BSI sensor from Sony with Optical Image Stabilization. The LG G2 was famous for its OIS system and on the G3 it gets improved with OIS+. Another feature we can look forward is the laser autofocus system for the camera. With the laser autofocus the time between pushing the camera button and capturing the picture gets significantly reduced. In the official launch even, LG showed a comparison between autofocus speed of Samsung S5 camera and LG G3 camera. The LG G3 Camera achieved to lock focus consistently faster.

lg g3 camera sample

lg-g3-camera-sample-ortud

LG G3 Cat sample

For the rest of the hardware there is actually not much difference compared to the other smartphone manufacturers. LG has demonstrated before though that they are capable of creating high quality smartphones. Most popular the LG Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 and also the LG G2. Also the G3 will definitely be delivered with the newest version of Android 4.4 Kit Kat.

LG G3 Design

The LG G3 definitely sounds very promising. Now LG needs a very good marketing and pricing strategy to launch successfully. There is a huge difference when it comes to launching strategys. Look at how successful Xiaomi Launched in Malaysia with items sold out in Minutes. Compare that to the Social Media Fiasco of Samsung Malaysia, despite of their Marketing Millions. Or you choose to completely ignore Malaysia at Launch – I hope LG will learn from that soon and launch in Malaysia too. Then they could have a chance to get a top spot in our market.

Now lets get to the most important point for a lof the customers. The LG G3 will sell at S$868 (2228 RM) without contract and the 32GB bit more expensive with S$928 (2328 RM) in Singapore. So far LG did not announce it officially Malaysia, so first it will probably come via imports from our neighbour. If LG should keep the price roughly the same for Malaysia its on par with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC ONE M8. We are not sure if that is a good strategy when it comes to pricing, since Samsung owns definitely more brand equity and will be hard to beat at same pricing. We will report more as soon as the G3 launches here officially.

And as always as soon as the LG G3 is officially here you will find the best price on Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

Xiaomi MITV2

The Tv has a impressive 49 inch 3D display with 4k definition. Let us repeat that, 49 inch 3D screen with 4k definition. The remote to control the tv connects via bluetooth and you can easily install an app to direct the tv with your smartphone or tablet. Via the Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity you can simply connect your other bluetooth devices like headphones, keyboards or even game controllers. We know already that Xiaomi does not pack their device with hardware, they also have an eye for detail. The MI TV 2 is ultra thin, the xiaomi designers have removed the speakers from the main display and created a bluetooth subwoofer and wired soundbar. And even better, the sound system works totally independent from your TV. Users can easily connect your devices to the speakers and listen to your favorite music with it.

The Xiaomi MI TV2 operates on Android with a customized interface, to make all the content and media easily accessible. Who already experienced MIUI OS knows that its pretty simple and easy to navigate.

At the moment the MI TV2 is only sold in China, but in a recent interview, the Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi worldwide, confirmed that the 49 inch 3D TV is coming to Malaysia soon. He said the device is definitely coming to Malaysia, he just cant commit to a exact date yet. Hugo Barra said in the interview: “Mi TV is an amazing TV but it’s also an incredible content box. It gives you very easy access to TV shows, movies both local and international in a really simple and easy to use fashion. We want that entire philosophy, that entire platform to be available here [in Malaysia], we don’t want to just be selling you a TV, we want to sell you an experience. In order to do that, we need local content partnerships, we need licenses for all this content. We have licenses today in China and we need to be able to acquire these licenses in Malaysia as well. We’re working on that and we’re also looking for local partners who can help us.”

Xiaomi’s 2nd-generation Android-powered TV Specs:
– 49″ Ultra HD 4K (3840×2160) panel
– 15.5mm ultra-thin frame / 6.2mm bezel
– MStar quad-core 1.45GHz processor

– 802.11ac 2×2 Wi-FI support
– 8-speaker soundbar + 120W subwoofer
– MIUI TV Android-based OS
– Dedicated 11-key remote + gesture remote app

The best point about the Xiaomi MI TV2 is clearly the price, at the moment it sells for 3,999 Yuan, which is 2000RM. 2000 RM is really a very good price for a 49 inch 3D TV with 4k resolution, other brands charge minimum 10.000RM for that.

As soon as its available here, you will find the best price on This Information is provided to you by Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

LG G3 Vs Samsung S5 in Malaysia

The LG G2 has been one of the most popular smartphones in Malaysia, especially through the very attractive pricing. In this review we will compare the new LG G3 vs Samsung S5. LG has not announced all specs officially yet, but there have been enough leaks to know nearly everything about the phone. The LG G3 is going to be one of the main competitors of the S5 in the Top Level Segment, while companies like Huawei and Xiaomi attacking the lower segment market for Samsung.

LG G3 vs Samsung Galaxy S5

LG G3 VS S5

Design

Both the LG G3 and the Galaxy S5 have plastic bodies. In terms of design phones like HTC ONE or even the aluminim MI 3 have an edge on the LG G3 and S5.

lg g3 size compare

The LG G3 has a pretty average design. There is a small chance, that it will get a metal rear, but most likely it will be full plastic like the S5. Thanks to its 5.5 inch screen the LG G3 is larger then the S5 in every dimension. From the leaked specs we know that the G3 G3 is 4mm longer, 2mm wider and 0.8mm thicker. In line with the LG G2 design, the buttons will be on the back of the LG G3.

Galaxy S5 – Plastic, Gorilla Glass 3, 8.1mm thick
LG G3 – Plastic, Gorilla Glass 3, 8.9mm thick

The S5 has a plastic design that is pretty similiar to the design of the S4. The back of the S5 has a textured finish, to make it look less plastic, but that doesnt really work out well. Overall the S5 design did not find too many fans, and eventually even the Head of Design for the Galaxy S5 Series left Samsung after the launch and disappointing feedback.

Winner: Tie. Both bodies of the LG G3 and the Samsung S5 are made of plastic and cant really compare to the HTC One. They both have a fairly average design and impress more with their specs. It is up to the user if they like more the phablet style of the 5.5 inch LG G3 or the smaller design of the 5.1 inch Samsung S5.

Display and Screen

Galaxy S5 – 5.1-inch Super AMOLED, 1080p
LG G3 – 5.5-inch IPS LCD, QHD

The LG G3 will be the first smartphone ever to use an QHD screen, which is the same as four 720 p displays combined together. With this technology LG achieves to have an extreme high pixel density on the device, even though it has the large 5.5 inch display. The display of the LG G3 will have a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixel and a density of 534 ppi. That means that the LG G3 will have the same resolution as a 27 inch i Mac – we think that is quite impressive on a 5.5 inch screen.

LG G3 Screen

While the LG G3 uses the QHD Screen with IPS LCD the 5.1 inch Screen on the S5 is a Super AMOLED. In general AMOLED screens have significantly better black levels compated to even premium LCD screens. The S5 offers an very impressive example of an AMOLED screen, with very crisp and clear colors.
Still the LG G3 has higher resolution than the 1,920 x 1,080 pixels of the Galaxy S5 and also a higher pixel density with the 432ppi on the S5.

There will not be a massive difference in therms of sharpness for the everyday user between the LG G3 and the Samsung S5, but it will be recognizable. One reason for that is also the Samsung S5 sub-pixel arrangement. The S5 sports an PenTile-type screen, and the diamond-shaped sub-pixel seem less crisp and sharp then the regular “stripe” RGB o the LG G3 LCD Screen.

Winner: LG G3. While both phones are clearly in the top-elite of their class when it comes to screens the LG G3 has with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel and a density of 534 ppi a higher resolution and better pixel density then the S5. As well it is signifcantly bigger then the S5 with 5.5 inch. The S5 has also a very good screen and especially if you like smaller screens, the Super AMOLED with its impressive color rich experience, might be a good choice.

LG G3 vs Samsung S5 – Hardware and Specs

Galaxy S5 – Snapdragon 801, 2GB RAM
LG G3 – Snapdragon 801, 3GB RAM

Both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G3 use the fastest processor on the Malaysian market available at the moment, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with Adreno 330 GPU and Krait 400 Technology.

LG G3 VS S5 Specs Comparison

The Snapdragon 801 is a beefed up version of the Snapdragon 800 used in the LG G2. Using the Krait 400 architecture this processor is more then 30% faster then the Snapdragon 600. Both the S5 and the LG G3 run with the Snapdragon 801 at 2.5 Ghz.

While the both devices use LPDDR3 RAM, which is faster and uses less power then DD3 RAM, the LG G3 has a full GB more of Ram with 3GB. This will show an significant impact in performance benchmarks and playing games and multitasking. Normally RAMand virtual memory management are the main reason for slow down of Android devices.

One thing that is not confirmed yet if the internal memory of the LG G3 will expandable via micro SD. The LG G2 does not have a memory card slot, but did LG learn from that?

The announced 32GB of the LG G3 are not a good sign in that term. Often smartphones with a higher internal memory in the basic version dont have a memory slot. And the internal memory slot makes adding your own memory much cheaper then buying a phone with higher memory.

The base version of the Galaxy S5 is at 16 GB and you can easily buy 64 GB micro sd cards for 160 RM. So if the LG G3 really doesnt have the memory slot thats is a clear advantage for the S5, since its easier to store your media and favorite Games and apps.

When it comes to battery life the LG G3 has a slightly better battery with 3000 mAh versus the 2800 mAh of the S5. Performance in terms of battery life is probably going to be pretty similiar and the Snapdragon 801 is designed to be extremely power efficient.

Winner: LG G3. While both phones run on the Snapdragon 801 processor at 2.5 Ghz, the LG G3 has a whopping 1GB of Ram more which will clearly show in Benchmarks and performance. It is actually a bit hard to understand why Samsung did not increase the memory of the S5 to 3GB of Ram.

Camera and Pictures Samsung Galaxy S5 vs LG G3

Galaxy S5 – 16-megapixel ISOCELL, LED flash
LG G3 – 13-megapixel BSI, OIS, LED flash

The LG G3 and the Galaxy S5 have a bit of a different approach with their cameras. In normal daylight there is no big question that both smartphones with their high quality sensors will excellent pictures.

LG G3 Camera Sample

LG G3 Camera Sample

At harder conditions for picture taking, is wher the strategies of LG and Samsung are different. The Galaxy S5 has a new kind of sensor, named ISOCELL and made by Samsung. With the ISOCELL sensor full well capacity increases crosstalk at sensor pixel level decreases. In practice that means that the sensor can utilize higher sensitivity levels without higher levels of image noise.

The LG G3 will sport a more standard BSI sensor, probably the latest generation of Sony 13-megapixel sensor, and the smartphone will have optical image stabilisation. The optical image stabilisation will let the user have longer camera exposures with blurry looking pictures. Also LG announced to have a laser on the back of the G3 to help focusing in low light.

Winner: S5. We have seen pictures of the S5 and are pretty impressed at the review of the camera. In the past LG’s camera have not been as good as the Nokia’s for example. Also the Samsung phone utilizes a 16:9 ratio sensor, while the LG G3 crops into the sensor, resulting in 9.6 megapixel pictures.

There’s one other thing that puts things in the Galaxy S5’s favour a bit, though. The Samsung phone has a 16:9 ratio sensor, while the LG G3 crops into its sensor as standard, resulting in what equates to 9.6MP photos unless you switch to 4:3 aspect shots.

Winner: LG G3. One of the main reasons is the very impressive screen with the same resolution as Macbook 27inch and a whopping 1 GB of Ram more against the 2GB of Ram of the S5.

What will be the real deciding factor in the end is the price level. The LG G2 was consistently priced cheaper then the S4, at better specs and performance levels.

What LG G3 really needs to do is follow that strategy against Samsung. Rumors are that it will be at least 550 RM cheaper then the S5, which could definitely be a very good argument for the LG G3 and against the S5.

Overall you still have two smartphones at the top of their class and Price will likely be the deciding factor in the end. For Samsung Malaysia it is going to be a tough year in any case with their recent Social Media Disaster and the hard low end competition from Xiaomi and Huawei.

Why Samsung Malaysia Social Media Disaster is only Samsung’s fault

This Information is provided to you by Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

In the past days there has been a lot of anger and frustration for Malaysian customers. If we have a look at the Internet and Social Media there is a lot of angry words and accusations spilled, and its nearly turned into an “Social Media Shitstorm”. Some of the frustration was for sure directed at Xiaomi, for having only 4000 Units of its MI 3 for sell. But while Xiaomi managed the anger very efficiently with announcing 6000 MI 3 Units for Sales, Samsung has not been that clever. There is even more anger now turned on Samsung Malaysia for their 50% off promotion for the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. 50% off on a device that just launched 1 month ago.

Samsung Galaxy Neo 3 Scam

Samsung has been facing intense competiton lately from chinese smartphone manufacturers attacking the Malaysian market with their Hardware packed Smartphones for extremely affordable prices. There is Xiaomi on the one hand with their MI 3 launch, a 889 RM which has basically nearly the same specs as the S5. On the other hand there is Huawei with their 499 RM Huawei Honor 3C. Its sufficient enough to say Samsung Malaysia is facing trouble.

And now this. That the Samsung Note 3 Neo Promotion was a PR Disaster would be an understatement. With the NEO 3 Promotion Samsung probably tried to put their brand back into the spotlight after especially XIaomi got a lot of attention these past weeks, before their launch in Malaysia. And it could have worked, 50 % of on the Samsung Note 3 NEO is after all a great deal. But all turned bad on Samsung.

Check our Xiaomi MI 3 vs Samsung S5 Review

But lets recap first what happened. Some days ago Samsung Malaysia announced that they would have a very special promotion for three days, starting yesterday: The Galaxy Note 3 Neo at only RM850 – that is a whopping RM849 off the RM1699 retail price. This was sure a very good deal for the phablet, even cheaper then the Xiaomi MI 3 with 889 RM. As with a lot of things in life, the devil lies in the details and the conditions that came with the promotion. They had only 1240 units available for this price in whole Malaysia, and each of the 62 outlets got just 20 each for sale with that special price.

Samsung malaysia Scam

The Announcement of the Note 3 NEO promotion gained a lot of attention with Samsung Fan Base in Malaysia, BEFORE the start of the promotion. Once again, this a once month premium Samsung Smartphone for 50% off. But its from there that all went downhill for Samsung Malaysia.

Malaysian Customers, coming very early in the morning to the Samsung outlets, only for an announcement that the Neo 3 units were all sold out, started the Media Shitstorm for Samsung Malaysia.

Samsung Galaxy Neo Scam

And there were indeed a lot of angry malaysian customers. A lot complained that the shops where they tried to buy had much lower stock of the Note 3 Neo then promised, while some even said that there was actually one outlet in WHOLE malaysia that sold the stock. And the anger didnt turn at the shops but it turned on Samsung, because the customers felt that this whole thing was a cheap Marketing and PR Stunt without much basis behind it.

Samsung Note 3 NEO Scam

And here comes the catch. We think the customers are totally right with that opinion !

Samsung did their best to communicate that there were indeed 1240 units available for sale for the 62 shops. The problem would be that they couldnt control who buys the stock, even with legal binding contracts. And so a lot of the shops bough the stock themselves, probably to sell them of at a later point with less discount. It would be easy to blame the whole thing on the shops here, but we wont go the easy way.

Note 3 Neo Scam

We think this whole thing is indeed Samsungs fault. Firstly 1240 Units for whole Malaysia? Seriously Samsung? Samsung announces three times less units then Xiaomi for a promotion like this and doesnt expect customers to get frustrated very fast? Secondly, this is not the first promotion that Samsung did in their brand history. Why would they sell those stocks offline, when they know they cant control the shops as in other promotions. They should have just sold online, with a big announcement like Xiaomi. Lastly, Samsung managed the whole Social Media Shitstorm very badly. They should have apologized fast and then get some more stocks to sell online, again like Xiaomi. It really seems that they can learn a lot from the Chinese Manufacturer when it comes to Marketing And Media Campaigns.

Samsung NEo 3 Scam
Overall there has been a lot of damage done to the Samsung Malaysia Brand these last days. Samsung was already under fire from Xiaomi and Huawei in Malaysia, but now they are one step closer to loosing that game. A failed PR Campaign like this, combined with average Sales of the Samsung S5, can bring a brand very quickly in a bad spot in Malaysia. The best thing that Samsung can do now is to apologize and get new stock, or they will be called “penipu scammer” for a long time.

Up to now Samsung seems like to have made no announcement to apologize on their Facebook Page officially – the Disaster goes on. What is your opinion?
