According to their lab test, this kind of glass stayed uncracked up to 80% of the time it was dropped from 1.6 meters in the face! Very impressive!

Laser autofocus: The fastest autofocus technology!

First of all, this kind of focus technology works based on a laser transmitter and receiver. The sensor of the camera emits an infrared laser. This laser goes to the object you wanna take photo of, and go back to the camera. Then the receiver records how much time it takes for the laser  to return. After that, it figures out the distance between the phone and the object by multiply the time recorded with the speed of the laser (which is constant). By that method, the object is located precisely and brought into focus!

The process seems slow and complicated but don’t forget that laser is extremely fast! So it takes no more than half a second for the object to be brought into focus and the picture to be taken! That’s why this autofocus technology is the fastest among other method. The user can take great photos of moving objects. However, this technology requires user to focus manually. That means the user has to tap the object they wanna focus on the screen.

But I don’t think that step will make it less convenient anyway! Another advantage about laser autofocus is that it doesn’t rely on the light condition because the camera itself generates its own light. This technology is not only the fastest but also the best one for low-light condition!

Everything has two sides. So does Laser autofocus. The only drawback of this technology is that the laser is quite weak (you don’t wanna the laser to hurt your eyes do you?). That’s why the object you wanna take photo of must be close enough for the laser to reach! So if you take a big landscape with mountains, clouds or the sea, this technology is helpless. However, today’s laser autofocus camera often goes with contrast autofocus, which will help when the laser one cannot.

Secondly, such high iPhone price includes not only the phone but also the software assurance! iOs 10, the latest iPhone OS, was made available for ALL Apple devices, immediately and simultaneously. On the other hand, Android users have to wait for months until their handsets can be upgraded to the new OS. For example, Google released Android 4.4 in October 2013, but HTC had to wait for 4 months to be able to release the OS in HTC M7. The same thing also happened to Asus. It took the brand 10 months to feature Android 4.4 in their Fonepad Note 6, almost a year later! And Android Nougat has been released already but currently there’s no phone running this latest OS.

Third, iPhone price is high because Apple produces their own OS (and hardwares). Android smartphone brands can prevent low margins, hence resulting in lower prices, because Google provides the Android OS FOR FREE! Moreover, Google offers many of its popular services, again, FOR FREE. So manufacturer really don’t have to invest more. Meanwhile, Apple has their own development team to produce their own software! They also have to build and maintain the infrastructure and human resource to support their services.

Does such iPhone price make the iPhone better than Android?

The answer is NO! Both Android and iOs have their own pros and cons. It depends on what you need from your smartphone and how much you can afford. And trust me, it’s NOT a waste to spend such huge amount of money on iPhone or other Apple devices!

Dual-camera smartphone: How does it work in producing an image?

First of all, let’s talk about the function of each camera in the dual-camera smartphones! Between the two cameras on the back, one camera is for capturing the subject with standard contrast detection autofocus. The other camera is in charge of capturing the light in all directions, hence viewing the objects at different depths and angles. With this dual-camera setup, the photo taken is a combination of one photo with various contrast level and one photo with different depths (layers).

The purpose of this dual-camera setup is to shoot and focus later! Before the final photo is produced, users are allowed to adjust the focus and the viewing angle of the draft photo (which is made of two separate photos). All you need to do is to tap on the subject (or area) you wanna bring into focus and then the layer containing that subject will be the main focus of the photo. However, this technology is actually not autofocus. Instead, it is still contrast detection autofocus. That means it has to rely on the light condition of the surrounding. The more light in the frame, the better the photo is. And at the same time, the darker the scene is, the worse the dual camera performs. This is the only drawback of dual-camera smartphones.

Dual-camera smartphones: Are they worth the money!

In my opinion, the answer is NO. The only thing that dual-camera smartphones are different from other autofocus technology is the ability to shoot first and focus later! Compared to other autofocus technology, this one is still poor in terms of speed and accuracy, not to mention that such phones are very expensive!

On this 27th July, a unveiled event of Xiaomi will take place at China National Convention Center – Beijing. In this event, the company will announce its two new products. According to some reports before, these two products would be Xiaomi laptop- Mi Notebook, and a new smartphone-Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. However, this report is not true partly. The upcoming phone is not Redmi Note 4 Pro, but Xiaomi Redmi Pro instead.

Recently, the smartphone maker has just posted on the Weibo to confirm this phone. According to this post, the star of the show is gonna be Redmi Pro. And this handset will come with a “mysterious small partner”. In terms Xiaomi Redmi Pro specs, the phone will be powered by a Helio X25 SoC processor. Along with it is a hefty 4GB of RAM. The phone will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Redmi Pro may come with a bigger screen (5.5 inches) comparing to the other Redmi phones. It is even said to feature a dual main camera. If this is true, Xiaomi will be the next brand joining to the dual-camera segment. And the brand will also be the tough rival of Huawei in the domestic market.

Huawei Note 8: new flagship with 6.6-inch display

Recently, Huawei- a popular Chinese smartphone maker- has just released Huawei Honor V8. This is one of the first smartphones in the new V lineup of the company. And again, this device has brought a huge success to this brand. And now, this series is reported to be gonna have another member. And this member will be a “Big” one- Huawei Note 8. It seems like that Huawei is aiming at the big-screen smartphone market.

According to some reports, the new Huawei handset will sport a 6.6-inch display with the resolution of 1440 x 2560 px. With this screen size, this Note even larger than the one from Samsung (Note 7 with 5.8 inches) and the Xiaomi flagship (Mi Max with 6.44 inches). The phone is coming with 2 versions. The first variant is powered by Kirin 950 + 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM. The other is Kirin 955 + 4GB RAM + 64GB inbuilt storage. This memory can be expanded up to 128GB. For photography, the company will add an 8MP selfie snapper and a 13MP Sony IMX278 camera to the device. Besides, there will be a USB Type-C port.

Huawei Note 8: price and release date

After Mate 9 and Mate 8, this is the next Huawei smartphone having the tablet size. With all the specs above, the new handset ould probably the next flagship from the brand. Hopefully, Note 8 can follow Honor V8 to bring another success to the V series. About Huawei Note 8 price, the 3GB version will be about $299. The 4GB model will cost you around $343.
