Huawei Honor V9: Big Brother of Honor 8

The Chinese manufacturer Honor just unveiled its Honor V9 to the public in his home country. According to rumors, the smartphone will also be launched internationally at Mobile World Congress 2017, but under the name of Honor 8 Pro. Basically, the new Huawei phone is optically and technically the big brother of the Honor 8: The devices look quite similar, whereby the V9 is coming completely with aluminum chassis.

As for specs, it features a 5.7-inch 2K QHD display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Its dimensions are 157 x 77.5 x 6.97 mm, and it weighs 184g. At heart, the Huawei Honor V9 sports an Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset runs Android 7.0 Nougat underneath Huawei’s EMUI 5.0. and an enormous 4000mAh battery is keeping the lights on. In terms of memory, the Honor V9 is available in two versions: 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM or 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, both variants can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

Moreover, the Huawei Honor V9 also has the dual camera known from the Honor 8. There are 2 12MP megapixel Sony sensors on the back, each with an F/2.2 aperture. One sensor shoots photos in color, the other is a monochrome sensor. A great combi, which should provide more contrast and sharpness. In addition, the combination of laser focus, dual camera and the powerful processor can also create photos with a 3D effect and film 4K videos. On the front, there is a 8MP snapper for nice selfies.

Meizu Pro 6 Plus review: 4GB RAM, 12MP

First, let’s go to the design and display. Meizu Pro 6 Plus has some appeal on its own, especially on the back. There is a lot of elements taken from the Pro 6 released last year. The screen is 5.7″ AMOLED, with QHD resolution. The 2.5D glass corved slightly at the edges, giving an elegant feel to the phone. There is a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and lone speaker at the bottom, while the dual-sim tray is at the left. Overall, the phone manages to look quite elegant, without being so flashy.

As for performance, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus specs are quite good. This phone houses the octa-core Exynos 8890 chipset (4×2.0GHz Mongoose and 4×1.5GHz Cortex-A53), the same as the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. There is also Mali-T880 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. There are options of 64/128GB, with the 128GB version having some slight enhancement on the chipset. The performance is quite amazing, although it is still not on the same level as the S7 duo, Pixel or iPhone. The biggest shortcomings are the slow fingerprint scanner, and hard-to-navigate OS.

The battery of the phone is also very good, at 3,400mAh. Other specs of Meizu Pro 6 Plus are also quite good. The camera is very capable, with a main 12MP camera with IMX 3860 CMOS, OIS and LED flash, while the selfie camera is 5MP. The camera app also launches very fast, on par with Pixel or OnePlus 3/3T. The picture quality will not compare with the best in the market, but it is sufficient. The Flyme OS is based on Android 6 Marshmallow. However, as stated before, the navigation is not good at all, which is a shame for this phone.

Meizu Pro 6 Plus: A good phone with strange software designs

Meizu Pro 6 Plus price is now $435 (~RM. 1940). Overall, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus is a nice phone to have. If you can bypass some software design flaws, you definitely will have a good time with this phone.

As for the display, iPhone 8 Plus will have a 5.8″ FHD display, while LG V20 display is 5.7″ 2K. While iPhone 8 Plus has 32/128/256GB ROM, LG V20 comes with 32/64GB ROM. One downside of iPhone 8 Plus is the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack. Overall, in this iPhone 8 Plus vs LG V20 specs comparison, LG V20 seems to have an upper hand.

HMD Global is going to reveal Nokia 8, among other Nokia smartphones, at the MWC 2017 soon. Ahead of the official launch, the Nokia8 has been spotted on JD.com‘s website, giving us a hint of the available colors and price of the device. The two colors spotted for the device are black and grey. About pricing, the Nokia 8 price, according to the website, will be CNY 3,188 (~RM. 2,065). This is a very good price for a supposedly high-end product, and it will surely compete heavily with brands like OnePlus, who also offers high-specs phones at reasonable price. However, please note that this information is not official.

The Nokia 8 specs has been speculated to be of a high-end smartphone. It is speculated to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC at its core, with at least 4GB RAM, and 64/128GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 256GB. From the photos at the website, we can see an almost bezel-less display. The screen size is expected to be 5.7″, with 2K resolution. The rear camera is expected to have 24MP lens, with OIS and Carl Zeiss optics. The front camera could have 12MP lens, and the phone will run Android Nougat.

HMD Global’s presentation at the MWC 2017 will begin on Sunday, February 26 at 9PM IST. The Nokia 8 is only one of many phones expected to be revealed by HMD at the event. There would also be another premium smartphone, the Nokia P1, two budget smartphones, called Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 respectively, and, to the surprise of many, the return of a variant of Nokia 3310 feature phone. HMD Global may also talk about the international version of Nokia 6 at the event.

The font of all your your iPhone’s system and apps and will appear bold. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Turn on the ‘bold text’ option. Afterwards, just restart your phone and that’s it!

Our next tip is to increase contrast on your iPhone. Notifications appear on a blurry and milky white background, which makes them hard to read. Go to Settings > General > Display > Increase Contrast. You can also zoom the whole screen, or only parts of it, depending on your personal preferences. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Scroll down to Display Zoom and select the View option > tap Zoomed > tap Set. Actually, very easy huh?!
