However, a recent research points out that iPhone 7 Plus uses its second camera lens less often than you think. Let’s find the reasons behind it!

iPhone 7 Plus dual camera – the truth

For those who haven’t known, iPhone 7 Plus comes with two 12MP camera lens on the back. The first lens features a wide-angle, with 28mm in size and f/1.8 aperture. This lens is also supported by many camera technologies like OIS, phase detection autofocus, and quad-LED flash. It brings 10x digital zoom. Meanwhile, the second lens is called “telephoto lens”, which sports a 56mm in size, f/2.8 aperture, and 2x optical zoom. It allows the phone to capture photos from far distances. Both of them are combined to bring high-quality photos.

However, as an interesting research from Glenn Fleishman in Macworld, iPhone 7 dual camera uses its second lens (2x optical zoom) less than the first lens (10x digital zoom). That means the second lens with “2x optical zoom capibility” is often in the “rest status”. On the other hand, the first lens with “10x digital zoom” is commonly used in taking photos. One of the reasons comes from the f/1.8 aperture on the first lens.

To be more specific, the f/1.8 aperture on the first lens lets in more light than the f/2.8 aperture on the second lens. That helps the iPhone 7 produce high-quality photos even in low light conditions.  The f/1.8 lens is also assisted by OIS technology, which help avoid blurry photos.

Now, as an iPhone 7’s measurement obtained by a French website, the Apple iPhone 7 has the same length and width as the iPhone 6s.

From the picture below, you can see iPhone 7 has 4.7-inch (138.30 of length and 67.12mm of width), is the same with iPhone 6. We don’t have the information about the iPhone 7 thickness. As we know, iPhone 6s thickness is 7.1mm. So, we predict that Apple iPhone 7 will have a 7.0mm thickness. With all of the features which iPhone 7 may have, we expect that iPhone 7 price is 672$ for 16GB, $824 for 64Gb and $936 GB for 128GB.

As other reports, iPhone 7 will have a 3.5mm audio jack, Smart Connector, and dual-lens camera system. Besides, Apple iPhone 7 may have a bigger and slightly bulging camera as well as a larger sensor.The Apple iPhone 7 battery could be slightly larger and better than Apple iPhone 6s.Besides, from the reliable sources, iPhone 7 plus’s design is also the same as iPhone 6s plus.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo – Apple Securities analyst, iPhone 7 plus will not have any big changes in its design and Apple will maintain the same 6-series form for iPhone 7 plus in this year. So, we predict that iPhone 7 plus size will remain at 4.7-inch  (138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm). Maybe in 2017, we could see the Apple iPhone 8 with a larger screen and more compelling features as new OLED display, Wireless Charging, and No Home Button. Let’s wait for that!

While people are still waiting for the coming Apple iPhone 5SE, lately some information about has been seen on the internet. Specially, it appeared in a live photo, which makes everything even more reliable. Looking at the pic, we can see the handset sports a dual shooter on the rear, just like what was mentioned before. Besides, we notice that the camera hump is clearer compared to that of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. And there will be no antenna lines crossing the machine’s back.

In general, this iPhone 7 Plus design is totally fine. Though, as for iPhone 7 Plus specs, no word has been made yet, but we know a little of its main snapper. The two-cam setup is said to create “zoomed-in pictures without the bulk of a mechanical zoom or the distortion that comes with inflating images digitally.” More specifically, one lens will take a standard wide-angle image and the other will get a closer one.
