The Xiaomi MI 3 is very hot right now on the market, so please make sure to read the official buying guide, so you can be on of the lucky ones to get your hands on of the smartphones.

XIAOMI MI 3 Malaysia Launch

The Xiaomi MI 3 launched yesterday at 12.00 pm and the 4000 Units of the MI 3 sold out in only 17 minutes. Xiaomi sold also a bundle with the Xiaomi MI 3, for 925 RM instead of 889 RM you got an protective case and screen saver for free.

Most interestingly the 5000 units of the Xiaomi MI Powerbank with 10,400 aAH for 36 RM sold out in half of the time of the MI 3 sale. Unluckily Xiaomi did not confirm a new batch for the Mi Powerbank for the sale on 27th may. So far they only confirmed a new batch of the XIaomi Mi 3 with 6000 more units. But then again they didnt say the Mi Powerbank will not come, so we will keep you updated.

If you think of getting the MI 3 it is better to wait a few days till 27th when new 6000 units arrive from Xiaomi or buy from official sources like here. We have spotted scalpers who sell the MI 3 on the internet with more then 500 RM more for 1400 RM, better not to give them your hard earned money.

On top of that Digi will taking pre orders starting next week and could offer the Xiaomi MI 3 for free, also it will be for purchase on Maxis and Celcom later.

It seems that good specs and high quality dont have to be expensive. Xiaomi made definitely an impressive standing with the launch of their devices. Now we have to wait for LG and Huawei to follow. In the end the customers will win with cheap devices and higher quality which is great.

XIAOMI REDMI 1S Vs Moto G in Malaysia

This Information is provided to you byOizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

At the last Xiaomi Malaysia Launch Event, Xiaomi also announced its next smartphone coming to the Malaysian Market, the Redmi 1S. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S will come to Malaysia in June and its 799 yuan price, will probably convert to a price of around 400 RM in Malysia. The Xiaomi Redmi (Hongmi in China) is one of the most popular Xiaomi phones and Xiaomi will bring an improved version to the Malaysian market. The Redmi 1S has the same price and dimensions, but Xiaomi powered it with a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz quad-core chipset and double the internal memory. We will compare the Xiaomi Redmi 1S with the ever popular Moto G Smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S VS Moto G

Xiaomi Redmi 1s Malaysia

Design

When it comes to Design its a close race between the Xiaomi Redmis 1S and the MOTO G. The MOTO G is hardly innovative in terms of looks, but its soft curved egdges make it attractive and it feels solidly built. The 143 g Moto G has a good feeling in the hand, and although its 11.6 mm thick, the rounded edges make it feel thinner then it actually is. Also for the MOTO G you can take the rear off, and then switch it for another color. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S comes like the MOTO G with a plastic case. The Xiaomi device is a bit heavier at 158 g, but therefore thinner at 9.9mm. It is also available in a lot of fancy colors.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s Design

Winner: Tie. While both phones definitely cant compare to design highlights like the HTC ONE series, you get solidly built smartphones, that definitely dont look cheap and lie well in the hand.

Display and Screen

Both smartphones come with 1280 x 720 resolution HD LCD displays but the Xiaomi Redmi S is slightly bigger with 4.7 inch. The display of the Moto G is 4.5 inch, in everyday use this should not be a significant difference for the user.

The Redmi 1s sports a 4.7 inch HD LCD Screen with IPS Technology. Utilizing the IN-Plane Switching Technology, the user is gets impressive color consistency from different viewing angles. The pixel density is 312 ppi and Xiaomi got the Redmi 1s Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for screen, to make it extremely responsive and very hard to scratch.

The Moto G offers a 4.5 inch LCD Screen with a sligthly higher density of 326 ppi. To give that some perspective, thats a larger resolution and more defined display then the Apple iPhone 5s, and that a a third of the price. The Moto G also offers Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for the screen, a slightly improved version to make the phone even more responsive and harder to scratch.

Winner: Tie. Both devices have very solid displays with 1280 x 720 HD resolution. While the Redmi 1s is slightly larger with 4.7 inch, the Moto G has a higher pixel density of 326 ppi. Overall both have very high quality displays and users have a very good choice with both.

Hardware and Specs

Both smartphones the Xiaomi Redmi 1s and the MOTO G utilize a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1 GB of RAM in support and Adreno 305 graphics. While the quad-core Snapdragon 400 of the MOTO G is clocked at 1.2 Ghz the processor of the Xiaomi Redmi 1s is much faster at 1.6 Ghz. Both smartphones use 1GB of RAM.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S vs Moto G Malaysia

In the version that is comparable for the lowest price, both come with a 8GB of internal memory. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S storage is expandable up to 32GB via Micro SD. The internal memory of the MOTO G is not expandable, therefore Motorola offers a 16GB Version. The pricetag of the MOTO G 16GB is at currently 730 RM much more expensive then the 400RM of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, so its better to compare the 8GB Version with the 8GB version.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1 S comes with an 2000 mAH battery, while the Motorola MOTO G uses a 2070 mAH battery, no big difference here. Another advantage of the Redmi 1S is the use of dual SIM cards, so you can easily differentiate between business and your private life.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s Antutu benchmark

Winner: For Hardware and specs the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is the Winner. While both the Moto G and the Redmi 1s use the same qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 400 the Xiaomi Redmi 1s is clocked significantly higher with 1.6 Ghz vs 1.2. Also it comes with expandable external memory and Dual Sim, which makes it the clear winner in Hardware and Specs.

Camera and Pictures

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera. The Redmi 1s ƒ/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide angle give you a very good focus on objects on the foreground while blurring the rest. If you are into selfies or video chat via skype and google hangouts the Xiaomi smartphone has also a 1.6 MP Camera. It also is able to record 1080p videos.

Beautiful girl picture taken by Xiaomi Redmi 1 S, more pictures here

xiaomi redmi 1s camera

The MOTO G has a 5 Megapixel Rear Cam with Single Flash and a 1.3 MP frontcam. With the Moto G all you get are really single flash, HDR mode, shutter sound and apect ratio including panorama mode. Overall the MOTO G is not really a camera for aspring smartphone. photographers

Winner: Xiaomi Redmi 1S. When it comes to Camera the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is the clear winner. The 8 MP Camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide angle clear dominate the 5 MP Camera of the MOTO G. As well the front camera is slightly better with 1.6 MP vs 1.3 MP.

Software

The MOTO G was one of the first smartphones to be updated on Google’s latest software – Android 4.4.2 KitKat, because Google owned Motorola before. ( They sold Motorola to Lenovo recently). The specs of the MOTO G are enough to run Android Kit Kat smoothly. Android purists will like that the Moto G is running the stock version of Kit Kat. Motorola decided against a customization and said that they wanted to focus on real benefits instead.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1s rund on MIUI V5, which is a custom rom that is grounded on Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Android 4.3. There a few design changes on the MIUI V5 comparing with Stock Android, like removing the APP Drawer. The Aim for the MIUI V5 was to make it more simple and intuitive while leaving enough customization options for experienced Android Users, according to Xiaomi VP Barra.

Winner: Xiaomi Redmi 1s. With the MIUI V5 you get a multitude of customization options and its very intuitive and easy to use. As well the Xiaomi MI 3 already runs on MIUI V5 with Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 so its likey that the Redmi 1s will get the same. While Moto G used to get all the newest updates, Motorola was sold to Lenovo recently so it is unclear what will happen to the constant updates of Android.

Winner:

Xiaomi Redmi 1S. The price of the Redmi 1s will be ca 400RM at launch in June for Malaysia. Thats more then 280 RM cheaper then the MOTO G. For that price you get a quad-core smartphone with 4.7 inch HD display and 8 megapixel Camera. In this comparison definitely the Xiaomi Redmi wins over the MOTO G, since its stronger on Specs and Hardware, Camera and has definitely a impressive price.

In general Xiaomi just sold out all of their XIaomi MI 3 and their powerbanks for the launch. It will be good for the Malaysian Market to see more competitors coming in. Chinese Companies like Huawei and Xiaomi offer highly increasing value for smart prices with their devices like Huawei Honor 3c or the Xiaomi Redmi 1s.

In the end the Malaysian users will win, which is fantastic.

As soon as the Xiaomi Redmi 1s launches we will present it here for you on Oizoioi – Malaysia’s Number 1 Price Comparison Site

XIAOMI MI 3 in Malaysia : Only 4000 Units on May 20th

Xiaomi MI 3 malaysia Launch

The XIAOMI MI 3 will officially launch on May 20th at 2pm. According to the official Xiaomi Facebook Homepage, Xiaomi will be selling only 4000 units of the MI 3 on May 20th though for 889 RM. Yes, only 4000 units for the start. ( Those of you who dont want to wait, can buy the IMPORT XIAOMI MI 3 variant from Singapore for 989 RM  now)

Of course 4000 Units of the Xiaomi MI 3 for the whole Malaysian Market seems very low. We researched and it seems that this is a market tactic by Xiaomi that has been employed before. If you have a look at XIAOMI Singapore Facebook Page and Media Pages you see that for the Xiaomi MI 3 Singapore Launch there were only 1000 units on March 20. But Xiaomi sold the Redmi with 5000 units in Singapore, that will not happen in Malaysia as far as we can see.

Read our full Review of XIAOMI MI 3 VS Samsung S5 !

Scarcity, the underlying principle behind this only 4000 Units for the Xiaomi MI 3 launch has been long know by marketers. Basically:

“Simply put, humans place a higher value on an object that is scarce, and a lower value on those that are abundant. The thought that we, as humans, want something we cannot have drives us to desire the object even more.”

While this might be a very slick marketing move, it is sure that a lot of Malaysians will be unhappy about that move and the exteremely low number of items on sale. Judging by their Facebook there is a lot of Anger out there already. Probably Xiaomi will stay with that launch number of 4000 units for the Xiaomi MI 3 though so its time to get very quick on May 20th. You better find a place with very fast internet to get a Xiaomi MI 3 for 889 RM.

One good alternative for all of you who couldnt get the device is to buy the IMPORT XIAOMI MI 3 variant from Singapore for 989 RM. THat is 100 RM more but you can be sure to get on of those MI 3 with Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of Ram and 5inch display, maybe even earlier then 20th may.

Also stay tuned for the 20th. As soon as the product launches we will have the official Malaysia Version with the best price in Malaysia on our price comparison website Oizoioi here.

Iphone 6 in Malaysia: 10 Things you should know

Iphone 6 Malaysia

Apple might be announcing two new iPhone 6 variants as early as June on the WWDC. There have been a lot of rumors about two new versions of the iPhone 6, one 4.7 inch and one 5.5 inch. We have for you 10 things you should know about the launch.

Apple as a company is famous for its secrecy and top secret product innovations. The more surprisingly it is that all of their flagship products like the Apple Iphone 6 have a very strong track record of being leaked before launch. Websites like 9-5Mac are very well sourced and Wall Street Journal or lowyat have a long history of pre launch leaks. From the iPad Air to the Iphone 5s, and surely the Iphone 6, very few products have been a complete surprise in the past.

That basically means that month before Tim Cook will officially present what the next Iphone 6 will look like, we probably have a pretty good idea about the specs and the design of the new device. There is naturally a lot of rumours and speculations about the Iphone 6, but some of them are so consistent, that there is probably some truth to them. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

For sure nothing its set in stone till the actual launch date of the Iphone 6 and normally Apple hides some of the last facts and will surprise us again (hopefully). Nonetheless here are the most probable and interesting facts about the next Iphone 6 before it launches in Malaysia.

Iphone 6 Malaysia Design

Probably there will be more then one iphone 6. According to most rumors Apple is finally reacting to the market demand for bigger display sizes. Most Sources say that there will be two variants to the next iphone 6, one 4.7 inch version and the other one in phablet size, with 5.5 inch screen. Last leaked iphone 6 pictures showed models that look very similiar to the latest iPod touch and iPad Air designs variants.

The smartphones look to be thinner than ever before, maybe even as little as 6mm thick. Also it seems that the new Iphone 6 probably has a more rounded look and not anymore the squared sides from the 5s. One of the most popular pictures shows silver, gold and space gray models with an aluminium back, broken up only by horizontal stripes for the antennas.

Apple Iphone 6 Malaysia Dummy

Since Apple introduced new sapphire production processes, it could be also that the new iPhone has new types of displays additionally to the new buttons and lenses. Some sources say there will be more curved displays, but this rumour is highly fought over.

If we look at Apples launch history the Iphone 5s will most likely still stay on Sales, and we didnt hear yet about Apple replacing it with an a newer device of the same 4 inch size. Most probably both new Iphone 6 will be larger models and customers that still like the 4 inch display size from Apple will be buying the Iphone 5s. So far there is no news when it comes to the colorful Iphone 5c though.

The new Iphone 6 might be more expensive. While the iPhone 5s is still at a proud price of 2238 RM In Malaysia there are some rumors saying that Apple might raise their retail prices for the next Iphone. And Apple might succeed with that strategy. In this market apparently a lot of customers feel that the innovation for smartphones has slowed down. If Apple brings out something truly innovative with the Iphone 6 they going to have a very hot product on their hands and the leverage to raise their prices again.

The Iphone 6 could come very early. The WWDC, Apple’s largest developer conference is already in one month. In Apple tradition the WWDC would be the place to announce the newest iPhone and many wondering if we could have facts as early as in one month. Rumours are divided when it comes to the launch at the WWDC. Some suppliers and analysts say the WWDC is going to be the reveal date, some others say its going to be August. Also there are some rumors about production problems with the 5.5 inch iphone 6 and it might be pushed back till early 2015. In any case we will be seing probably one new iPhone 6 in Malaysia earlier then most of us thought.

Apple doesn’t have a “typical” release cycle for the iPhone, so it might as well launch very very soon:

iPhone 3GS – June 2009 344 days
iPhone 4 – June 2010 370 days
iPhone 4S – October 2011 467 days
iPhone 5 – September 2012 353 days
iPhone 5S – September 2013 364 days
iPhone 6 – ?2014 -> Now 236 days since last launch

The device is very probably named iPhone 6. While this is not very surprising, since Apple has some history with naming products with different sizes the same thing like the Macbook Air. It could although be that Apple will continue what they did with the iPad, with new product series like the “air” and the “mini”. So although iPhone 6 is the most dicussed name right now for the new smartphones, we shouldnt be surprised if Apple calls their largest smartphones ever, something completely new.

iOS 8 Design

The most talked about feature of the new iPhone 6 is its amazing new camera. Apple has a history of investing huge resources into improving their cameras. Their latest hire what Ari Partinen, which is the great mind and engineer behind the Nokia Lumia cameras. Although he is very new to Apple he might have some great impact on the camera for the new Apple smartphones.

Even more significant, is that Apple filed a patent specifically for its new camera. Apparently its a kind of image stabilization that will increase the pixel in the 8 Megapixel sensor. As well there is a “Super Resolution Mode” in the coming version for the apple camera application. All this could be a marketing strategy, but it seems that Apple is really working on something innovative and cool for its new iPhone 6 camera.

One of the most interesting new features from Apple is what they will be able to do with the fingerprints. By now Apple owns almost 800 million iTunes accounts and several hundred million credit cards on file. This could mean that Apple will launch a larger option for users to buy online on their Apple devices. Apple would create a competitor for Paypal and Google Wallet and maybe they are launching already next to the iPhone 6. And why not, after revolutionizing the complete music industry with ITunes and dominating the Smartphone market, why not getting into online payments. They would have a very strong advantage with Apples TouchID, if users can pay with their fingerprint, that would make the payments secure and easy. And if they create Pay with iTunes, that could be the next huge revenue driver for Apple, since online payment companies like paypal normally take a small cut of every online transaction .

The iPhone 6 will be utilize iOS 8. iOS 8 will with a very high probability be announced on the coming WWDC next month. It will have a new number of new features and applications as well as an enhanced iOS 7 design. The new core feature will be Apple’ s Healthbook, that will use all the new sensors that are supposed to be in the iPhone 6 to measure everything related to your health, from counting your steps to apprently even measuring your blood oxygen levels. Apple Maps might finally be recovering from their slow first steps and including public transport information. As well as Siri is learning some new cool tricks, including auto song detection, aided by Shazam.

We probably see a few new iOS 8 apps as well. SO far there have been a preview app for seeing images and documents and a text editor leaked and both would make a lot of sense. Also iTunes Radio might be created as a new separate App to better promote the streaming music service in iOS 8 and Apple is significantly investing in improvements to iCloud’s infrastructure.

According to 9to5MAc iOS 8 is very likely to increase the functionality of Apple’s iPad significantly with a new split-screen multitasking feature. This split-screen multitasking feature will finally allow iPad users to run and interact with two different apps at the same time. Up until now all apps available on the App Store haven been only individually usable in full-screen mode.

This Multitasking feature, which is already popular on Microsofts Surface has been asked for a long time by iPad users. Apart from allowing to use two apps at the same time, it will make it more easy for two apps to interact. So Users might be able to drag content much more easy from one app to another, like videos, pictures or text – very helpful. This might be very good news for iOS developers, since apple might enable “XPC” (improved inter-app communication) support and developers could finally apps to share content for iOS.

Iphone 6 Healthbook

The Iphone 6 might launch with the long rumored Smartwatch. Healthbook would be a natural complementary for the iWatch, because many rumors say that the iWatch is going to be mainly health focused anyways. We discovered a few leaked screenshots that showed a Watch Utility app, but there is only a slim chance that the name or app design are final.

Right now it seems that the iWatch is going to be a companion to the new iPhone 6 and not really a standalone device. It would make sense to announce and launch them at the same time. By judging how long the iWatch has been rumored though, it is not yet really safe to assume that Tim Cook will be announcing the iWatch soon.
The rumors about the new iPhone 6 have been there for a few month and the ones about thew new health device from apple the iWatch even longer. Very recently though they increased in intensity and focus which normally happens right before a launch from apple. Xiaomi optimized the charging efficiency so that this Mi Powerbank comes with a 93% Conversion Rate and 10% increased power output efficiency.

XIAOMI Mi Power Bank

mi power bank layout

For those of you who dont know Power Banks, a Power Bank like the Mi from Xiaomi, is simply speaking an external portable battery with a closed case. The Xiaomi Mi Powerbank comes with a USB Cable so you to charge it, you can just connect it to your laptop or desktop computer. After charging, you can just bring the small Mi Powerbaj with you in your bag, can use it easily to charge your MI 3, 3.5 times fully or any other smaprthone for that matter and end all frustrations with short battery life times.

The Mi Powerbank is rated in aAh the same like your tablet or smartphone battery. Normally powerbanks are aboiut 70-80% energy efficietn, which means that only 80% of the battery energy goes to your smartphone, the rest is lost to heat. That means normally with a 3600 mAh power bank you wouldnt even be able to charge a Samsung Galaxy S4 one time. Thats why the Conversion Rate of the MI Powerbank of 93% is so important and makes it possible to fully load the Xiaomi MI 3, three and a half times.

Mi Power Bank Design

Now back to the Mi Power Bank. The powerbank is beautifully designed, made from anodized aluminium and easily fits in one hand. It can even withstand 50kg of pressure, so you dont need to worry if you bring it in your bag. It sports chips from Texas Instruments and utilizes nine different layers of protection, from overvoltage protection to temperature resistence.

This Mi Power Bank for 36 RM is compatible to all popular smartphones on the Malaysian Market, not only the Xiaomi MI 3. The Mi Powerbank adjusts the output according to the device, and you can charge all brands like HTC, Apple, Samsung including a variety of digital cameras and gaming devices.

The Mi Power Bank will come in seven different colors for the launch on 20th May in Malaysia, but will probably launch in silver first. For a price of 36 RM for a 10,400 mAh powerbank we can not complain. Overall this is a genius Move from Xiaomi and is sure to get their Xiaomi MI 3 launch the correct attention. We recommend all interested customers to be lightning fast though when the devices launch on 20 may in Malayisa, both are ultra hot right now.

XIAOMI MI 3 VS Samsung Galaxy S5 in Malaysia

Xiaomi launched its first smartphone for the Malaysian Market on May 19 2014, the popular MI 3. The MI 3 retails at only RM 779, which reminds of other shocker Product Launches like the RM 698 for the Moto G last year. While the Moto G was positioned more for the Mid-Segement the Xiaomi MI3 is a full blown Flagship Killer because of its High-End Specifications and unbeatable price. In this review we will compare the Xiaomi Mi3 with Samsung Top Smartphone in the Malaysian Market the Samsung Galaxy S5.

XIAOMI MI3 Vs Samsung S5

Xiaomi MI 3 Malaysia

DESIGN

When it comes to Design the clear Winner is Xiaomi’s MI3. The MI 3 has a beautiful metal casing which uses Magnesium alloy, similiar to the HTC ONE series. The smartphone frame is coated in three layers of thermal graphite film. On top of that it has nice features like 120-laser cut speaker grills and metal reinforced USB ports. Overall this gives 8.1 mm body of the MI 3 a very premium touch to it. On the other hand the Samsung Galaxy S5 uses the plastic cover we know already from the Samsung S4. While the S5 is still a premium smartphone, it surely doesnt win against the High End Design of the Xiaomi device. Yet recently the Head of Design for Samsung Galaxy S5 quit his job and this might be one of the reasons.

Xiaomi MI 3 Malaysia Design

Winner: Xiaomi MI 3

Display and Screen

Both smartphones come with 1,920×1,080 Full HD resolution displays, but the Screen of the Samsung Galaxy S5 5 is slightly larger with 5.1 inches. The display of the Xiaomi MI3 is only 5.0 inches, but this shouldnt make a big difference for everyday use.

Xiaomi MI 3 Display

The Samsung S5 sports the Super AMOLED Display which we know already from other popular Samsung Smartphones like the Galaxy Note 3. The Pixel Density is at 432ppi and it offers amazing colors and is overall a beautiful display.

One the other hand the MI3 uses a 5.0 inch FUlL HD LCD Display with IPS Technology. The IN-Plane Switching Technology offers amazing color consistency from different viewing angles. As well MI 3’s backlit display is fused directly to the touch screen, which will let colors appear deeper and richer.

As mentioned both displays the MI 3 and the S5 offer the same resolution of 1080p. The Xiaomi MI3 has a higher pixel density with 441 ppi vs the 432 ppi of the S5 because of the slightly wider screen of the S5. In every day use these 2% more pixel density will not make a difference for the user.

Winner: This one is a TIE. Both Smartphones have very high quality full HD displays with a resolution of 1080p. While the S5 is slightly larger with 5.1 inch the MI 3 has a higher pixel density of 441 ppi. When it comes to display you have a very good choice with both phones.

Hardware and Specs

Both devices the Xiaomi MI3 and the S5 utilize one of the best processors available for Android in Malayia at the moment. The quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and Krait 400 Technology. The Krait 400 Architecture makes this processor more then 30% faster then the Snapdragon 600. While the MI 3 runs the quadcore Snapdragon 801 at 2.3 GHZ, the S5 is slightly faster with 2.5 GHZ. Both devices have 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM which is faster then DD3 Ram and uses less power.

Xiaomi MI3 Specs

For internal storage the Xiaomi MI 3 comes with a 16GB Version Storage in the Standard Version. While the S5 has the option to extend the memory up to 128 GB of internal memory via Micro-SD, it seems for now that the MI 3 doesnt have any option to extend the internal storage of 16 GB. We will have to wait if there will be more storage versions offered for the MI3 then the basic 16 GB.

The S5 is the most popular Samsung Smartphone at the moment and definitely the flagship. As such it offers some features that should at least be mentioned here in our review. One of the most spectacular is the ultra power saving mode, which allows for huge power savings because the phone uses only minimal ressources. This is very important with todays power hungry smartphones. Also Include are different motion based apps like Air Gestures and it has an inbuild Finger Print Scanner and hear rate monitor.

Winner: For Hardware and Specs the S5 is the Winner. While both the MI 3 and S5 use the same processor, the S5 is a tad faster with 2.5 GHz. What is bothering us a bit that so far it seems that the Xiaomi MI3 only offers 16GB and is non extendable. Nevertheless for a third of the price of the S5 you still get nearly identical specs, so its still a close race.

Camera and Pictures

The Samsung S5 Camera got a lot of media attention and this for a reason. Check this Ad where Samsung is teasing Apple for having 16 Megapixel Camera, double what Apple offers in the Iphone 5s.

The Camera of the Samsung Galaxy S5 delivers pictures with a 16 Megapixel ISOCELL Camera and offers truly astonishing picture quality. You can check our article here to read some more about the picture quality of the S5. The Xiaomi MI3 sports an 13 Megapixel Camera with Dual LED Flash from Phillips. The 5 piece lens has an inbuilt infrared filter and f/2.2 aperture as well as a 28mm wide angle .

With these cameras and lenses, both of the smartphones offer fantastic pictures and a solid performance. If you are into selfies or videochats via Skype or Hangouts, both the MI 3 and the S5 are equipped with 2.0 Megapixel Front Cameras.

Winner: Tie.

Software

The Xiaomi MI3 comes with MIUI V5, a custom ROM based on Android 4.3 and Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The MIUI ROM has quite a few visual changes from STOCK Android, like removing the app drawer and other design tweaks. According to Xiaomi VP Barra the aim for MIUI v5 the aim was to make the OS very intuitive and easy, while offering enough customization options for experienced Android Users.

The Samsung S5 utilizes its characteristic Touch WIZ UI which we know alread from its other smartphones. You get some new applications like MyMagazine which help you to aggregate your favorite Media And Social Media on a second screen.

Winner: XIAOMI MI3. With MIUI V5 you get a lot of customization options and its easy and intuitive to use. While the Touch WIZ UI is pretty seasoned, a lot of users complain that its overloaded and lacks customization options.

Winner:

Xiaomi MI3. With a price of 779 RM, that is half of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in Malaysia, you get a full blown FlagShip Smartphone. The MI 3 is totally equivalent on Specs and Hardware. Only slightly negative points were missing LTE and 16 GB of internal memory, while missing LTE is not a real minor point is at the moment in Malaysia. You can call the MI 3 a real Flagship Killer.

Xiaomi MI 3 Powerbank

We are very excited by this entry in the market of Xiaomi with the MI 3. The Malaysian market is getting increasingly competitive with new companies from China like Xiaomi and Huawei who offer high value smartphones for extremely competitive prices. It is going to be exciting to see how other brands like Lenovo Malaysia or even Samsung will defend themselves.

In the end the Consumer will in Malaysia will win, which is great.

In general we can say that Lenovo Malaysia has a very strong position in the market by now. They are defending themselves with their very attractive pricing and increasing quality of smartphones like the super popular Lenovo A369i against high end smartphones from Samsung and Apple. Also they took over the Smartphones from Motorola and will probably launch another surprise smartphone next month. The race in Malaysia will stay exciting, especially with more chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Huawei coming in on the low range end.

Huawei Honor 3C Launch in Malaysia for 499 RM

After a lot of rumours and speculations around the launch of the Huawei Honor 3C in Malaysia, Huawei finally showed us the price of its newest Smartphone. And honestly they surprised us all. The Price of the Huawei Honor 3c is not priced under 600 RM (ca 185 USD). The Huawei Honor 3C is at a WAY BELOW 600 RM Price in Malaysia.

Huawei Honor 3C Malaysia

Huawei announced its newest smartphone for a price of only RM 499 (154 USD)(at the launch event in Kuala Lumpur. Let me repeat that, the Huawei Honor 3C will sell for a price of RM 499 in Malaysia a little bit more then 150 USD. While the pricing of the smartphone is quite low in China and Taiwan, we didnt expect it to be that low for Malaysia. The Huawei Phone is already on sales, and you can buy it here for example.

Huawei Honor 3C Review

Huawei Honor 3C Review

When it comes to specs for the extreme affordable Huawei Honor 3C this device doesnt have to be shy. It sports a 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK6582 quad-core processor, Mali-400MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM to give you all the processing power you need. Especially 2GB of RAM is essential at that price and will ensure smooth multitasking and processing of all your favorite apps.

The Phone is running on Huawei’s own OS EmotionUI 2.0 a customized Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. For internal storage the device utilizes 8GB of memory on board. You can extend the internal memory via MicroSD up to 32GB. Worth mentioning is also that it supports DUAL-SIM so you can easily divide your business and personal life. For battery life and speaking time the Huawei Honor 3C comes delivered with a 2300mAh battery.

Huawei Honor 3C Review

The Huawei Honor 3C gets delivered with a 5-inch LTPS display with a solution of 1280×720 and a pixel denisity of 315 ppi according to Huawei. When it comes to camera and photography Huawei included a 8-megapixels BSI sensor by Sony for the rear camera of the Honor 3C with a F2.0 28mm lens and blue glass filter. The camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels has as well features like autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus and face detection. If you are into Skype and Google Hangouts, or even taking Selfies the phone comes with a 5 Megapixel Front Camera and F2.4 22mm lens.

While the specs of the 3C are impressive at that price point there is one minor downpoint with that device. When it comes to design of the Honor 3C you get a lot of plastic and glossy finish. This design makes the smartphone look more like a chinese smartphone and we cant really compare this design with more premium smartphones like the Huawei Acend P6.

If you dont see the design as a major point, the phone still feels qualitative and is pretty light with only 140grams. For every day use The 9.2mm smartphone guaruantess smooth operations through the 2GB of RAM and the quad core processor. The Huawei Honor 3C’s screen has also great colors, and a useful glove mode that decreases the display’s sensitivity when needed.

Huawei Honor 3C Design

Wit a price of 499 RM for the Huawei Honor 3C in Malaysia the chinese manufacturer definitely made an impressive introduction into our market. Huawei also opened up its very own flag ship store in Lowyat Plaza in Kuala Lumpur last week. On top of that they launched a Facebook Campaign where the first 100 customers who guessed the launch price of the smartphone right got a Huawei Honor 3C for free.

Overall it looks like Huawei made an impressive stand with its newest smartphone for the Malaysian Market and we will probably see more from the Chinese Manufacturer soon.

One Plus One VS HTC One (M8) in Malaysia

The launch of the One Plus One, the “Flagship Killer” was welcomed with a lot of attention worldwide and in Malaysia. The One PLus One will be delivered with customized CynagenMod 11s and has better specs then the HTC One (M8) for a flagship killer price of 290 USD (ca 980 RM). For all those that want the highest specs on smartphone for a tiny budget, will have a great choice with the One Plus One.

After comparing the One Plus One with the Samsung Galaxy S5 we will show you a comparison between HTC Malaysias new Flagship the HTC ONE (M8) and the One. Lets see how the One Plus One stands against one of the most popular smartphones in Malaysia in 2014 the HTC ONE (M8).

Check out our comprehensive comparison of S5 and One Plus One here.

One Plus One Vs HTC One (M8)

One Plus One FlagShip Killer

Design

OnePlus One Design

The clear Winner on design and for this round is the HTC One (M8). The One (M8) comes with a beautiful high quality aluminium casing and in top notch quality that we know already from the One Series. While we cant complain about the built of the One Plus One, we must say that the HTC Metal feels more quality and premium compared to plastic casings like the One Plus One and the Samsung S5.

As well the HTC ONE fits better in your hand with its 5 inch display compared to the larger 5.5 inch display of the OnePlus One. This totally depends on your personal opinion of size though, if you like more the “phablet size” of the One Plus One or the sleek 5 inches of the HTC One.

HTC One (M8) Design

Winner: HTC One (M8)

See here also Ironman talking about the HTC One (M8) Design:

Display and Screen

Both smartphones sport powerful IPS LCD displays with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixel. While both displays show bright and crisp colors it is worth mentioning that the display of the OnePLus is larger with 5.5 inches vs the 5 inches of the HTC One (M8). Even though both smartphones come with the same resolution and number of pixels on the One PLus One they are spread out on a larger surface, resulting in less pixel density with 401 ppi. The HTC One (M8) has a higher pixel desity with 441 ppi. In actual use both devices have great displays and the user wont see any difference in every day use.

Winner: Tie. The only real difference between the two displays is the size. Here it comes down to personal preference between the 5.5 inch phablet and the 5 inch HTC One (M8).

Hardware and Specs

One Plus One Specifications

Both smartphones utilize one of the best processors on the market in Malaysia currently : the quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor at 2.5 GHZ and Adreno 330 GPU.

While both smartphones have the same processing power, the One Plus One has one big advantage on specifications. The One Plus One comes with an extra 1GB of RAM onboard, making it awesome 3GB of Memory on Board, as opposed to the HTC One (M8) 2 GB of Ram. This advantage when it comes to RAM should give some solid lead to the One Plus One when it comes to Benchmarking and multi tasking with several Apps. In the end both smartphones will be able to handle all every day tasks. Still its a big advantage that the OnePlus One has 3GB of Ram vs the 2GB of Ram from the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the HTC One (M8).

Moving on to onboard and expandable memory the HTC One M8 has a slight advantage. The smartphone has 16 GB built in storage but you can easily expand via microSD, microSDHC or micro SDXC up to 128 GB. The OnePlus One has no options for memory extension, but it makes up for it with an internal storage option of 64 GB (there is also a 16GB version).

Winner: OnePlus One. While both phones have nearly the same spefications the One Plus One offers better performance and slightly better hardware through the 3 GB of RAM. The HTC One is still a powerful high end smartphone and excellent performer, but its a bit hard to understand why HTC and Samsung wouldnt give 3GB of Ram to their Flag Ship Smartphones in 2014.

Camera and Pictures

The HTC One (M8) has slightly different approch to imaging with its new Duo Camera. The device utilizes two different sensors positioned one above the other on the rear of the smartphone. One is the same Ultrapixel 4 Megapixel Camera from the HTC One (2013). The second is a depth sensor, which tells the M8 which objects are in foreground and which are in background. With this feature users can change the point of focus on the images at any time and it allows for many exciting changes and edits to the pictrues after they are taken. The OnePlus One comes with 13 Megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensor combines with a 6 parts lens with f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash.

Both devices offer very good camera software packages that allow for a great experience when taking pictures with your smartphone. Also both smartphones come with a 5 Megapixel Front Camera so you can easily shoot Selfies or use Skype and Google Hangouts with your friends and family.

HTC One (M8) Sample

HTC One (M8) Camera

Winner: OnePlus One. While the HTC One takes a slightly different approach and fun approach with two sensors, the One Plus Ones very solid 13 Megapixel Sony Exmor RS could point with us.

Software

OnePlus One CyanogenMod 11s

One of the Areas in where the OnePlus One truly dominates is the software. The One is delivered with a CyanogenMod 11s, which is a special release customized for this smartphone. The CyanogenMod 11s sports stock Android 4.4 KitKat a ton of customisation options and other useful features like the ability to play FLAC flies. Also it offers Voice Command to wake the phone up or store pre-set gestures to command your favorite apps.

The HTC One (M8) uses the newest versions of HTC’s Sense UI, Version 6.0. There are actually not much updates to the new Sense UI apart from some cosmetical changes and some new features like Blink Feed. Blink Feed is a visual newsfeed from HTC which shows content from your social network accounts and newsfeeds.

Winner: One Plus One. With Cyanogen Mod 11s you get total freedom to customize your operating system and the software of the One Plus One. Up till now One Plus has announced the One in 16 Countries at an incredible pricing of 290 USD ( circa 980 RM) and only 349 USD ( 1140 RM) for the 64 GB Version. With this specifications thats very hard to beat. According to One Plus website the phone will be available in Mid May.

One Plus One Pricing

Also the HTC One (M8) is second in our test its still an amazing smartphone with stellar performance. As with the One Series especially the Metal Case give this phone a premium feeling. It will sell at 2399 RM in Malaysia.
