Good:

The look, the look and the look! Whatever your style, Sudio Klang earphone will give it a notch towards Swedish elegance with its leather pouch, golden lining and golden clip. And OK, the sound’s strong bass and warm clarity go here, too.

Bad:

Definitely chic, the leather pouch proves to be a little hard to handle – it takes real efforts to store the headphone in there without making it look like you don’t care.

Overview:

If you are in need of earphone, this one will make people go: “Where did you get that cool thing from?”

All four colours of Sudio Klang earphone (white, black, brown, orange) come in solid white boxes. Opening the big box you’ll get three smaller flatter boxes that self-explanatory label ‘Klang’, ‘Case’, and ‘Owner’s manual warranty card’. The earphone itself ports a thicker cable, a gold-plated stereo mini plug, and a subtle three-button remote; altogether it feels more sophisticated than most in-ear peers at first glance. The right cord is longer than the left, suggesting that you could (should) circle it around the back of your head and clip it on your neckline with the golden looking clip.

Klang is best compatible with iPhone, iPad, and hopefully, all the next iThing. It is accompanied by four pairs of extra ear sleeves to really cater to your ergonomic comfort, also to guarantee it won’t fall out of your ears easily regardless of the position you use it with (they know you scroll in bed!) I fumbled a little at my first sleeve change but if you revert it, sliding the new sleeve in will be as smooth as pulling the old one out. Indeed a smart accessory to accompany my other smart devices.

Performance wise I was pleased with the fullness of the sound – Adele sounds like she’s singing just for me, and I think Beethoven wouldn’t complain of the symphonic effect this tiny thing retains for my entertainment. There’s a slight bias on basses though so you’ll be all set for Lorde but when switching to Rihanna you might need a little adjustment (for example a change of song). Sound balance is pleasant – try “Rewind” by Devlin ft. Diane Birch and you will be able to detect the rapper’s englishness even if you haven’t known him before. Intriguingly, the sound differs a little when I listen to the same songs on my phone – a more “live” component suddenly adds in, delivering a performance feel versus that from a studio record. I’m a fan of performing art so by all means, love it.

One thing I find strange with this otherwise near perfect earphone is the size of the pouch. I haven’t been successful in storing the whole earphone inside it – either the cord will pop up, or one of the earplugs dangle loosely around. But then I look at all the promo images of Sudio Klang earphone on the mighty web and find none with a closed pouch. Maybe it’s intended to never fully close so that at least one part of this slick thing can call out to you (and anyone near you) then. That’s ok with me. I come to like to flaunt it around now.

Conclusion: at just $60, free shipping worldwide, Sudio Klang is a good buy for its sonic clarity and elegant features. I like bass (though not all about it), and my fashion radar already tunes in. Enjoy yours!
