Samsung Galaxy S5 in the first review from MWC 2014: “The S4-S5 successor Samsung Galaxy preceded the wildest rumors. There were stories of an extremely high resolution display, a curved display or two technically different S5 variants, some with metal housing. Those who believed these rumors, now probably be a bit disappointed by the S5 featured at the Mobile World Congress Galaxy: None of this is true. If, however, you keep an open mind with the Samsung Galaxy S5, you can look forward to a really strong smartphone.”

Design: New look, Superior quality

 

Visually, the S5 Galaxy comes in a typical Samsung look. However, the smartphone, as had already been the Galaxy Note 3, now gets a chrome-colored surround, which comes along a bit too baroque . But successful is definitely the visually attractive plastic back. The matte surface carries a golf ball pattern with many small round depressions and feels soft. This then provides for a very secure grip during operation. This also fits the still low weight of 145 grams. The offered colors white, black, blue and bronze should also be available from the start. The processing of the test pattern was already from absolute level series and gave no cause for criticism. In addition, the Galaxy S5 is now certified by the house and IP67 protected against dust and temporary immersion in water. The special micro-USB 3.0 socket on the bottom is protected by a cover against water, the headphone jack on the other hand on top open. This suggests an encapsulated version, in which the liquid can not penetrate into the interior.

The AMOLED display is growing very little from 5 inches so far with the Galaxy S4 to now 5.1 inches. In terms of video, the Samsung dominates even the inclusion in Ultra HD with 3840 x 2160 pixels. In addition, there are also new presets to explore.

Operations: Samsung users will have to get used too it

The Samsung’s proprietary user interface of the Android 4.4.2-model shines in a new look. So there is to discover redesigned icons and new designed information and status display. Also to the setup menu, Samsung has applied changes. However, the changed appearance and the sheer number of menu items not just provide better clarity, the user even get to choose of three different display options.

Despite some criticisms in this Review, Samsung and smartphone fans can look forward to an exciting top smartphone with the Galaxy S5. However, the competition of smartphones heating up.
