Nokia 8 review: 5.3 inch, 13Mp and why it’s cool!

Let’s start off and get right to the point: this is definitely one of the best looking Nokia phones ever to have been released. The body of the phone is an aluminium unibody design with metal edges, and the back is metal too. However, depending on the color finish you get, these can have completely different feels. Out of the 4 possible back finishes: a steel color with a matte finish, a tempered blue with a matte finish, a copper color with a shiny finish, and our favorite, the deep blue color with a shiny finish.

The display comes as a 5.3-inch LCD panel, that has a QHD resolution (offering around 554 ppi resolution) and 700 nits of brightness. This last part is quite high for a smartphone in this range, and means that there should be no issue viewing the Nokia 8’s screen even in direct, glaring sunlight. The screen makes viewing videos a pleasure on the Nokia 8, and the high resolution lets us wonder if Nokia has some Virtual Reality functionalities planned for the future…

In other specs, the Nokia 8 packs the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM, as well as the added bonus of a high 64GB of standard internal storage. These sets of specs will mean that the battery is well optimized and saves on power usage, which will help with the modest 3,090mAh battery cell that its sports. With its liquid cooling system, the phone thankfully doesn’t get too hot when used intensively, and it also contributes to battery life. Finally, in terms of cameras the Nokia 8 sports two 13MP sensors for the main camera, and a 13MP sensor for the front camera. There’s also a ‘Bothie’ mode for them!

Nokia 8 review: Can’t wait to get our hands on it!

In conclusion, this device really does look amazing, and Nokia has finally released this much awaited device which can compete with other flagship phones. It also compares well with other phones, and it’s a great device for those who are absolute fans of Nokia! It also has a few cool features such as the ‘bothie’ mode, which allows users to split screen their front and back cameras. Also, you can live stream to social media straight from the camera app! This comeback phone was released in a few countries already with a price tag of about $700. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
