HTC’s Hero – HTC O2: Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM next year!

Some info about a new HTC device has been spread on the internet. It will be a high-end device called HTC O2 and equipped the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip.

After noticing that HTC One M9 has not really received much success as the company expected in terms of sales, revenue and benefits, it seems like HTC should consider changing their strategy. And perhaps the next flagship will be responsible for solving the current problems.

According to the company’s CEO, Mr. Cher Wang, they are going to release a totally new device including design and many other things. They also promise that it will not follow in the One’s footsteps. We can see that the coming product is to take the role of a “Hero”, helping HTC overcome the crisis now and get back on track.

Recently, there are many pieces of information related to the “Hero” Mr. Wang mentioned. Specifically, it will be named HTC O2, powered by Snapdragon 820 chip produced by the procedure 14nm FinFET of Samsung. Accordingly, SD820 is said to give better performance and improve the battery life. One more important thing is that it will not cause heating issue like Snapdragon 810 which is one of the main reasons why HTC One M9 sale was not good.

Besides, from a Chinese leaks, HTC O2 will probably feature 6-inch 2K screen with 490 ppi, 4GB RAM and a combo of 20.7MP rear and 5MP front snapper. Other HTC O2 specs are a 3,500mAh battery and 64/128GB of internal storage. As for the design, HTC O2 will also have BoomSound stereo speakers like HTC One M9 together with the ability of water and dust resistance.

Reportedly, HTC O2 launch date will happen in the Q1 of 2016. However, none of the above info has been confirmed officially by HTC. Therefore, just take them with a pinch of salt.
