Apple launched their new iPhone 6 Edition this week. Actually Apple launched two iPhone’s, the iPhone 6 with 4.7 inch and the iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5 inch Screen size. Immediately after the Launch a lot of Android Brands and Fans attacked Apple, saying that is 2014 and Apple is late to the Game. Now OnePlus One, they call themselves “FlagShip Killer” take their shot at attacking Apple. Heres How:

If you have a look at Android Alternatives to the iPhone 6 you will quickly see that the LG G3 and the OnePLus One have the same display size as the OnePLus One, with 5.5 inches – a very good way to start a comparison.

The OnePLus One has been launched for some time now, but it still has not been able to cover the mass market, especially due to stock capacitys. It still feels like ONePLus is in the middle of rolling out the Phone with the whole invitation system and aggressive Marketing Campaigns. Meanwhile the iPHone 6 is launched officially and will start to ship in the coming weeks to customers. What a great timing for a Comparison between iPhone 6 and OnePLus One.

iPhone 6 Plus vs OnePlus One

We all have seen many of these comparison before, often direcly by OnePLus One. Usually we can see the OnePlus One vs one of the other Android Flagships, which the One was tailored to compete against. And normally we can see a lot of similiarities in Specs, comparing them each by each. This is naturally not surprising since the OnePLus One and a lot of other Android Flagships using the exact same components.

On the other hand Apple uses different hardware parts then most of their Android Competitors. We still have to wait to see the iPhone 6 in Hands on Action but, but normally Apple’s 64-bit architecture and iOS Optimization promises equal if not better performance then other Android smartphones with quadcore Processor and 2GB or 3GB of RAM. In short with Apple its hard to compare on Specs alone, and everybody who used an iPhone before knows that.

Apple will offer the iPhone 6 in Singapore with 16GB, 32GB and 128GG Editions. The OnePLus One is also available in a 64GB Version for 349USD.

Meizu MX4 International Prices

Meizu has announced the international Prices for their Meizu MX4 Smartphone, a main competitor to the Xiaomi Mi4. We were quite suprised about the international Pricing for the Meizu MX4. Read on and let us know what you think about the Meizu MX4 Prices.

Meizu MX4 Pricing

We were able to use a Promo Model of the Meizu MX4 since the launch, and the MX4 is definitely a very nice device with some impressive features. The 5.4 Display is very nice to use and the Octa Core MTK6595 CPU make the user experience very smooth and enjoyable, as well for Gaming. The 20.7 Sony Megapixel Camera is the same Camera as on the Sony Xperia 2 and delivers great pictures and Flyme 4.0 is one of the best Chinese OS we tried so far.

Meizu MX4 Antutu

Overall the Meizu MX4 is avery good smartphone and at only 1799 Yuan in China, 940 RM or 290USD is a very good deal for sure. Meizu has also opened international Sales for the Meizu MX4 last week, so how much is the international pricing going to be? Meizu gave us finally details to that question, since the customer that preordered the device are now able to pay for the MX4. Meizu is charging 449 USD for the international pricing.

If we compare this international Price with the Price in China, that is 150 USD more expensive. If you compare it though to what Resellers charge for the Xiaomi Mi4 or OnePLus One, it could have been even higher. Most of the additional cost is probably tax and logistics costs. Also if you buy directly from Meizumart.com, you will get official warranty and backups directly from Meizu. Still 150 USD is quite a high markup on the original Chinese Pricing and we will expect a few disappointed meizu mx fans who hoped for lower international Prices.

Apple just unveiled the new iPhone 6 Series with 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch displays. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus are very close to all the Leaks before.

The iPhone 6 version with 4.7 inch screen comes with a 1134 x 750 resolution. The iPhone 6 PLus finally gets the Full HD on an iPhone, which we did not see before on other iPhones. It seems that the iPhone 6 Plus functions like a speced down iPAd and not like a spec’d up iPhone 5s.

iPhone 6 vs Xiaomi Mi4

For Processing Power the iPhone 6, gets the next generation of Apple Manufactured Processors, the A8. The A8 processors are made in an 20nm manufacturing process and are a tad smaller then the A7 processor in the iPHone 5s. The A8 Processor is still a 64 Bit CPU and the Dual Core Processor is clocked at 2 Ghz.

Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus come with a 8 megapixel iSight Camera, with the same resolution as in the iPhone 5s. It seems though that only the larger iPhone 6PLUS Camera comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

Both new Apple Phones are running on iOS 8. For those iPhone owners who dont want to get a new Iphone 6, Apple will rollout iOS 8 public version download on 17th September.

iOS 8 is what will keep the show running on both models. For those that aren’t interested in getting a new iPhone to get a taste of iOS 8, the public version of the firmware will start its rollout on 17th September. Pre-order for US folks will start 12th September, and shipping will commence 19th September.

Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus will launch in the selected countries on September 19th 2014. For Asia Pacific there will be only four countries under the chosen few for the first Launch Wave. Those countrieswill be Singapore, Australia, Hongkong and Japan.

In all those countries the PreOrders for both devices begin on September 12th. A bit surprising to us is,that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will not be launched in China Mainland first. For the iPhone 5s Launch Mainland China was included for the first wave of iPhone 5s. This is a good sign for grey importers from Hongkong, who will earn from hand carrying devices, without paying taxes and earning a Margin on those Sales.

• Singapore – iPhone 6 starts from S$988 while the iPhone 6 Plus begins at S$1,148. (2500 RM and 2900 RM)
• Australia – iPhone 6 starts from A$869 while the iPhone 6 Plus begins at A$999.
• Hong Kong – iPhone 6 starts from HK$5,588 while the iPhone 6 Plus begins at HK$6,388. (2305 Rm for Iphone 6 and 2640RM for Iphone 6Plus )
• Japan – iPhone 6 starts from JPY 67,800 while the iPhone 6 Plus begins at JPY 79,800.

The Huawei Ascend P7 has launched already in May this year, but Huawei decided to give the Ascend P7 a very nice facelift with the Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Glas Edition.

Huawei decided to boost the Sales of the Huawei Ascend P7, and thas why the showed now the new device, instead of just the usual Glas Panel, it comes with Sapphire Glas. According to Android Central, Huawei CEO Richard YU demonstrated the Sapphire Glas live to his audience. He tried to scratch the display of the Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition with a knife – without any chance to even scratch the Sapphire Display.

The new Sapphire Glas its not the only change made to the Huawei Phone. Huawei also styled the edges of the device new. The edges of the device, come now with more rose gold finish, instead of the old original design. That gives the Ascend P7 a warmer design with the new gold colors – and it looks very stylish.

The Back of the Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire also gets glass now with a glossy ceramic texture – which is more ergonomic as well. Those style updates should definitely attract more fashion conscious buyers, and if you are on of them the Huawei Device definitely looks great.

WE heard some rumors before about an updated Huawei Ascend P7, but just now Huawei made it official. We expect to the Sapphire Edition to only sell in limited numbers in China First, and the price is not yet announced.

Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on the IFA 2014 in Berlin. Additionally Samsung launched a new Version of the Galaxy Note Series, the Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge comes with curved Edges.

The Galaxy Note 4 is relatively close in Design to the other Galaxy Note 3 Series. Samsung added a completely new metal frame to the Galaxy Note 4 to make it more premium, but kept the Faux Leather Look for the Back Cover.

We were really interested though how the Galaxy Note 4 Spes compare to the other Flagship Smartphones in the market. 2014 Samsung has very strong competition. On the Elite Level Samsung Galaxy Note competes with Apple iPhone 6 and also Sony Xperia Z Series. More importantly more Chinese Brands like Xiaomi and Huawei attacking from the lower Price End.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 5.7 inch Quad HD display with a Super AMOLED Screen. This is the same QHD resolution as on the LG G3 but Samsung claims to have more then 20% more coloes in the RGB Range with the Note 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with either Snapdragon 805 at 2.7 Ghz or Samsung’s Exynos Octa Core 1.9GHz + 1.3GHz octa-core CPU Variant, both come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The Note 4 memory can be extended up with a 64GB micro sim card. The NOTE 4 supports LTE Cat 4 or LTE Cat 6.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 sports a 16MP Rear Camera with Smart OIS and a 3.7MP Selfie Camera. The Selfie Cam has new integrated modes, where you can capture more people with an 120 degress Selfie Mode on the Galaxy Note 4 Front Camera.

The Note 4 also sports an 3220 mAH battery, which is not much larger the the 3200 mAH battery on the Galaxy Note 3. 3220 mAH is not much battery life for such a big 5.7 inch QHD screen, so you better prepare to buy a Powerbank.

As you can see the Galaxy Note 4 is definitely the highest powered smartphone in terms of CPU and Screen. For the Rear Camera, the Sony Xperia Z3 has a better model inside with the 20.7 MP Shooter from Sony. In terms of Selfie Camera nearly all Flagships have a higher Spec one at least in terms of Megapixel.

The Real Deal is obviously the pricing for the Note 4. The Note 4 is expected to be released on 10.10.2014 and comes with a price of 799 Euro or 799 USD.

This seems to be even more expensive then the iPhone 6 and Xperia Z3 which both going to be priced around 650 USD. Overall it might be wise to think about hardly how to invest your money. Xiaomi Mi4 and OnePlus One are definitely high speced alternatives and recentlu Huawei launched the Ascend G7 Phablet.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S Mint Edition Launch

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is overall Xiaomi’s bestseller in terms of quantity up to today. In Indonesia and Philippines it was recently launched and sold out lightning fast. Even though the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is selling as hot cakes, it could definitely need a new Design Update. Xiaomi decided to launch the Xiaomi Redmi 1S with a Mint Green Color Edition now.

Momentarily the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is only selling with the darker colors and the red buttons available. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S manages to sell very good, especially because of the very attractive pricing for the specs it offers. Right now the Xiaomi Redmi 1S has the same design for more then a year now and is really more understated.

Still it is true that the current Xiaomi Redmi 1S design is not pleasing everybody, even with the Snapdragon 400 performance and the very attractive pricing. So soon we will see the Xiaomi Redmi 1S Mint Edition, or light green. Probably this Xiaomi Redmi 1S Mint is targeted mostly at female and more fashion concious buyers.

Apart from the color change the Xiaomi Redmi 1S Mint Specs stay the same, with Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1GB of Ram, 2000 mAh battery and 8Megapixel F2.0 Camera. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is currently selling at around RM400 in Malaysia.

It looks like Meizu has another surprise prepared for its users. After the Meizu MX4 Launch last week, it seems that we will soon be seing the Meizu MX4 Pro Launch – with shocking specs!

From early 2014 we heard a lot of rumors, that Meizu will not only launch one smartphone, but four new phones this year. Last week we only saw the launch of the Meizu MX4. The Meizu MX4 is definitely a very intersting smartphone with 20.7 MP but because of its MTK Processor and 2GB of Ram it might not be tailored to be the Flagship Killer Nr1 2014. For the customer who want a real Beast – Meizu will launch the Meizu 4X Pro Phone Monster.

From the leaked Meizu MX4 Pro specs we can see that Meizu will leave the design unchanged. The Meizu MX4 Pro will come with extremeley improved hardware though. We can see that the Meizu MX4 Pro Screen will come with at 2K 2502 x 1536 resolution. The Phone will get impressive 4GB of RAM and instead of the Mediatek, Samsung will produce the new Meizu MX4 Pro CPU.

The 20.7 MP Sony Rear Cam on the Meizu MX4 Pro stays unchanged with F1.8 aperture. The Front or Selfie Cam will be changed though to an 13 Mega-pixel Cam with F.2.0 aperture – BOOM. Further we will have the choice of 16, 32, or 64 GB ROM as on the MX4 and it will have LTE support and Flyme 4.0 OS.

So far there are no news for the official launch of the MEIZU MX4 Pro but we hope it will be fast now after the big launch last week. The Meizu MX4 Pro will have strong competition with the iPHone 6 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. But with Meizu’s current pricing strategy of 1099 RM for the MX4, we believe that the Meizu MX4 Pro has the chance to be a real FlagShip Killer! With this specs it can definitely compete with XiaomI MI4 and One PLus One…

UMi Zero Design

The UMI Zero has not been launched yet in China. We had the chance to see an Pre Production Model though. And frankly there should not be a list of hottest designes without the UMi Zero.
The UMi Zero cant compare with their previous models in terms of quality, specs and especially design!

Like we heard already in a lot of rumours, the UMi Zero is very slim. It feels like its definitely less then 6mm. The Sleekness of the phone is not the impressive part though. Its really the craftsmanship and quality and design that is so impressive. The Phone is from an beautiful designed alloy frame with two frames of Gorilla Glas on each site. For Specs we know already that it will get Dual Sim Support, 8 MP Selfie Cam and Super AMOLED display. The Rest of the Specs are Secret Now – But what a beauty the UMi Zero is.

iOcean X8 mini pro Design

The iOcean X8 mini pro comes also with an All Glass Desig, similiar to the UMi Zero. Compared to the UMi Zero the iOcean X8 mini pro is a real leightweight though, cause of a different alloy body. Personally I prefer a little bit more weight to my smartphones, but if you prefer light phones the iOcean phone is the way to go.

The iOcean X8 mini pro is also very sleek with 7.6 mm and is powered by Mediatek’s MT6592 processor. There is also a HD 5 inch display 720 and 2GB Ram included. The iOcean has only Single Sim though and the memory is extendable.

Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire

A bit more expensive is the new Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition. The Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire is actually very similiar in design to the P7 Edition. It comes with a beautiful alloy body and Dual Sim Support. Like the Name Says on the Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire, you get a very beautiful Sapphire Glas panel. This should make the Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire nearly impossible to Scratch and its real elegant too.

 

OPPO R1 Design

The OPPO R1 is very similiar to the iOcean X8 mini pro. With all Oppo you have to pay a bit more for the Branding though. The Oppo R1 has next to a stunning design, very high end audio performance and the same F2.0 8.0 Megapixel, that is used in the iPhone 5s. The OPPO R1 is also available with LTE and runs Oppo’s Colors as Operating System. The OS is not as beautiful as MIUI V6 or IOS but has some very cool features included.

OPPO’s R1 is similar in looks and feel to the iOCean X8 mini pro but comes at the added cost the brand name demands. For your extra hard earned cash you do get better audio performance and the main camera is the same 8 mega-pixel F2.0 unti as found in the iPhone 5S. The Oppo R1 runs Oppo’s ColorOS, which while ugly does have some wonderful features, and there is even a LTE version of the phone available.

Xiaomi MI4 Design

Yes this list would not be complete without the newly launched Xiaomi MI4. The Xiaomi MI4 has extremely sleek bezels and vibrant color screen. While the Back of the MI4 is from plastic, the high end alloy edges make give the Xiaomi Mi4 a very highend premium look. Overall the Xiaomi MI4 comes in design very close to Apple’s iPhone Series – and Apple is the King of Design. The Xiaomi Mi4 definitely cant be missed in this list.

Lenovo really managed to impress us with two more big launches at the IFA 2014 – the Lenovo Vibe X2 and Vibe Z2. Both the Vibe X2 and Vibe Z2 dress to impress with their technology.

But how do you really impress customers, in a world where most Android Phones simply look the same? Lenovo’s idea is – Layered Design.

The Vibe X2 consists of four different layers, only the front layer is a bit smaller. You can also add on different layers as extensions, which make the phone design quite innovative.

While this hardly influences technology, it enables Lenovo to use different materials and the Vibe X2 will launch in charcoal, gold, white, red and bamboo ( with a bamboo wood rear cover)

Lenovo Vibe X2 – MT6595m True8Core

We have heard a lot of rumors and hype about the Lenovo Vibe X2. The Lenovo Vibe X2 sports Mediatek’s new TrueOcta Core MT6595m CPU, a clocked down version of the MT6595 that we also saw launched on the new MEizu MX4. The MT6595m is based on big.LITTLE Technology and comes with 2 sets of four cores. One Set is based on four high performance Cortex A17 cores and one set of 4 power efficient Cortex A7 cores.

On top of the MT6595m Mediatek processor clocked at 2.0 GHz and PowerVR G600 the Lenovo Vibe X2 gets 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. With those specs the Vibe X2 is not directly targeted at todays flagships but more in the upper mid segment.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 also sports a beautiful 5 inch display with 1080p Full HD resolution. For your pictures the Vibe X2 sports a 13MP Rear Cam and 5 Mgeapixel Selfie Cam. The Phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and Lenovo’s added features.

Very Good News is that the Lenovo Vibe X2 comes with Dual Sim for Asia Pacific and 4G LTE, ( Single Sim international). The not so good news is that this beauty is only powered by a 2300 mAh battery, so you better get those PowerBanks ready.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 will get added Accessoires named, Xtensions. The Accessoires are designed to add one more layer to the multi layer Vibe X2. They are called Vibe X2 Speaker and Vibe X2 Battery and Lenovo claims that the Accessory will increase Battery Life by 75%

The VIBE X2 will first launch in China in October priced at 399 USD (1270 RM) and then other ASian Markets and Europe.

Lenovo Vibe Z2 – Snapdragon 410 with 64Bit Technology

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 is targeted more at the mid segment market. It sports an 5.2 inch HD display with 1280 x 720 resolution. The Vibe Z2 is powered by a Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.4 Ghz. The Snapdragon 410 is based on 64bit technology, that means the Vibe Z2 will be Lenovo’s first 64bit Smartphone. Lenovo also announced their Tablet the Tab S8 with 64 Bit technology on the IFA 2014 for just 199 USD.

The Lenovo Vibe Z2 will also come with Dual Sim, probably again only for Asia Pacific. The Lenovo Phone sports a 13MP Rear CAM with BSI Sensor and OIS. For the Selfie Cam the Vibe Z2 has a 8MP Shooter, which means that the Vibe Z2 is better equipped then the X2 in the Camera department.

We expect the Vibe Z2 to run on Android L, but it is not yet clear if Android L will be the OS right out of the BOX. The Lenovo Vibe Z2 comes with a bigger 3000 mAH battery and a slightly higher pricing of 429 USD (1370RM).

 

 

Sony Xperia Z3 Launch 2014

More News from the IFA 2014. Samsung is one of the few companies where fans split. While they still sell a lot of smartphones worldwide, lastly they’ve been losing ground vs cheaper Chinese manufacturers with essentially the same specs. Samsung though pulled out some tricks at the IFA like the Galaxy Note Edge, with a bent display.

Speaking of Smartphone Brands, that need to innovate or die, it does not seem that Sony innovated so much for the IFA. Sony launched the Xperia Z3. The Sony Xperia Z3 is for sure a high quality Smartphone. If we have a looks of the Xperia Z3 Specs and Design though, we see that it essentially did not change that much from the Xperia Z2. After all the launch of the Sony Experia Z2 is just 6 month ago.

One of the biggest advantages on the Sony Xperia Z3 is for sure the 20.7 Megapixel Camera from the Sony Exmor Series. With this camera you will be able to take 4K pictures.   While this is exactly the same camera as in the Sony Xperia Z2, Sony says they improved the G Lens optics on the Z3. That means the Camera on the Sony Xperia Z3 has a better and wider field of view from the same distance. The Xperia Z3 can cover a larger frame then the Z2. It might as well be the same 20.7 Megapixel Camera, that we saw in the Meizu MX4 Launch yesterday. Apart from that the phone has additional nice features like being waterproof for example.

Overall we cant see too much differences from the Sony Xperia Z2, apart from small improvements in processing power, but nothing really innovative. On the one hand you can say, if it is not broke why should you fix it? Meaning the Xperia Z2, was a great phone, why innovate. After all Samsung with the Note 4 and Apple with the iPhone 5S have been doing the same.

Sony Xperia Z3 vs Xperia Z2

While Apple and Samsung might just get away with incremental Innovation because of their large fan group, we think Sony actually should focus on real innovation to compete in the higher class segment. Or lower the prices.

Definitely 2014 is the year of phablets. Sometimes you can really think that most new FlagShip Smartphones get towards the 6inch mark with their devices. The chinese Huawei definitely has some Experience with producing phablets and positioning themselves very stronly with the Huawei Mate Ascend 7 Series.

Huawei presented today the Ascend Mate 7 on the IFS. The Ascend Mate 7 is so far the largest phablet from the very popular Huawei Phablet series. Actually Huawei has been one of the first companies to offer phablets for affordable prices with the Ascend Mate Series. The Only Problem? The Ascend Mate 7, priced at 499 Euro, can be hardly called a Budget Phablet from Huawei

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 will launch this quarter in Europe. There will be two different versions of the Ascend Mate 7 Phablet: The first one with 2GB of Ram and 16GB of ROM and the second one comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM. Most impressive is the very strong 4100 mAh battery, that you would need also for a 6inch screen. On previous models, you could charge your other Devices with the Ascend Mate, we are not sure yet if thats still possible.

At least at launch the lower spec version will be priced at 499 Euro and the higher spec version at 599 Euro. We are not quite sure what the strategy is for that pricing. While Huawei makes surely good devices, they face direct competition from other chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Meizu others. With those prices they come close to competiton with Samsung and Oppo. We think the pricing might be too high for a smartphone like the Huawei Ascend Mate 7.

The new Meizu MX4 for some time now and already impressed quite a few of us. We had the chance to use a sample Meizu MX4 since yesterday. Here are our first impressions and Hands On with the new Meizu MX4.

 

 

With the Meizu MX4 launch, we saw a significant change in strategy for Meizu. Traditionally Meizu has been producing Flagship Smartphones with high spec and also high prices, like the Meizu MX3. The Meizu MX4 now is a high spec smartphone with very competitive pricing. In fact it is directly targeted at the competition of Xiaomi Mi4. We believe that is the right way to go and surely benefits users.

With Meizu’s new strategy CEO Li Nan announced also numerous new gadget partnerships along with the Meizu MX4. Meizu will launch a low cost smart watch, a Mini Wifi Router and even a quad-copter drone together with Ghost. This really seems like a big strategic shift, and on in the right direction. We think if Meizu can bring out those products at the right pricing and keep the high Meizu quality, users will buy.

In Contrast to Xiaomi, Meizu also launched the Meizu MX4 both in China and internationally at the same time for pre order. This is pretty new for a Chinese Smartphone Manufacturer – and we like it.

Meizu MX4 – Flagship with 20.7Mp Camera and beautiful design

The Meizu MX4 looks actually not so different from the Meizu MX3. They are completely different smartphones though. If you have seen the MX4 launch, you know that there are actually a lot of facts that make the MX4 much stronger then the MX3. The Meizu MX4 has a bigger display, more powerful processor, material from Aircraft grade alloy, increased battery life and the new Flyme 4.0

The MX4 models that Meizu gave to the Press are pre-production models. This means that there might be some more optimizations and tweaks to Flyme 4.0. Also there might be some small changes in Design when it comes to the End User compared to the Sample Model we were able to test.

Meizu MX4 Feeling and Looks

To be honest in terms of design the MX4 reminds quite a bit on the feel of Apple devices – which is good. The MX is manufactured with e new alluminium alloy frame which is carved out of a single block of aircraft grade metal. The whole frame is carved out of the aluminium and then sandblasted for a textured finish. The whole design reminds me very much on the Macbook im writing this text on. The MX4 feels very solid and qualitative and is still light enough.

The Rear of the MX4 is removable and made by plastic. It has been designed to look the same as the alloy sides. The Rear Still feels very soft, but not quite like on the OnePLus One for example. You can easily remove the Rear without a tool, just using your fingernails. The Rear on our Sample MX4 was a bit loose though. It will not come off mistakingly but we wish it to be a fixed a bit tighter for the production model by Meizu.

The Meizu Logo is on the bottom of the MX4 in a more understated design that goes very well with the Apple Look and Feel of the Alloy. Overall the MX4 is beautiful designed and not too flashy. The Rear Side also has the 20.7 MP Sony Camera and the Dual Flash.

The inside of the MX4 will remind MX3 owners of their devices. We can see a non removable 3100 mAH battery and a single SIM slot. It also appears that the MX4, like the Xiaomi MI4, will come without NFC. At least it looks like that in our Sample Version of the Meizu MX4.

On the sites of the MX4 we have the same buttons as on the MX3 with the home button on top and volume rocker on the left side. The finish of the alloy is splitted into areas with darker grey bars to make it more stylish. Along the alloy to the screen, there is another polished highlight machined to it which gives a very nice contrast to the brilliant 5.4 screen.

Nearly the complete front is covered by a Corning Gorilla Glas 3 panel which has a 15:9 screen ratio. This makes the new Meizu phone a bit shorter but wider then most competitve smartphones at the same size. With the only 2.6mm narrow bezels the Meizu managed to make the MX4 still very compact.

The MX4 still sports Meizu’s popular “halo” button and above the Full HD Display we see the 2 Megapixel Selfie Cam, including proximity sensor and speakers.

Meizu did a very good job on the MX4 design. The Combination of magnesium alloy, sandblasted and polished, glass and decent branding gives the user a very stylish piece of design. Even though the MX4 comes with a larger 5.36 inch screen, it doesnt feel that large compared to other smartphones with slightly smaller screens like the MX3. A real nice combination of high quality materials and understatement in branding from Meizu!

Meizu MX4 – Performance

The new Meizu phone is one of the first phones to sport the Mediatek MT6595 processor. On the launch event we saw an MX4 Antutu screenshot of 42000 points, which is pretty impressive on a MediaTek Processor. The MT6595 is clocked at 2.2 Ghz and runs on Big.Little Technology, which means that… In Combination with a powerful GPU and 2GB of Ram you can literally feel the power of the setup when playing around with it. We couldnt see any lag and experienced very smooth handling on the phone.

Part of the reason for the ultra smooth experience on the MX4 is for sure the new OS Flyme 4.0. You can really feel the strong specs and hardware though when gaming. We tried Dead Trigger on the MX4 and its super fast and nice. Especially the new 15:9 screen makes the Gaming Exprience on Meizu fantastic.

New Meizu OS Flyme 4.0

A smartphone can have great specs and hardware, but its truly up to the OS to transform those into user experience. FLyme 4.0 is a great OS. Flyme 4.0 got a cleaner look and is a tad simpler then the previous Flyme 3.0 but some things have remained unchanged.

A lot of the most impressive features of Flyme 4.0 are similiar to MIUI V6 still targeted at the Chinese Market. Meizu offers up to 40TB of free cloud storage in cooperation with a chinese cloud storage system, and also access to movies and music. Also there is a Voice Assistant included, but on our Sample MX4 it supported only Chinese so far.

For Flyme 4.0 Meizu seems to have taken in Fan comments though. The new notification bar on flyme extends on the complete screen down and all notifcation can be extended individually. Also some apps like the weather app have become very nice animations and graphics.

Flyme 4.0 also go a new camera application and user interface. With a simple swipe you can change the shooting or recording mode up to your tastes and use further enhancing modes after the shoot.

We will test the Battery Life, Camera and other factors in the next days. Hopefully there will be additional Flyme 4.0 updates for our Sample Version also.
