This is quite steep compared to the competiton of OnePlus and Xiaomi who offer comparable phones around 1999RMB, that is nearly half the price.
At first Launch the PreOrder Page even said Market Price close to 8999RMB (ca 1470USD), which would have made the Aurora one of the most expensive phones in China. Now this PreOrder Price disappeared from the Page to replace it for a 3699RMB price.
Right now customers can preorder the YunOS Philips Aurora I966 for 3699RMB, but lets hope for the official Sale on November 1 we are going to see an substantial Price Drop.
E-Commerce Giant AliBaba and Philips launch FlagShip Phone!
In general Philipps smartphones have been well designed, but more on the low end spectrum. The new Philips i966 sporting AliBaba’s YunOS shows that they creat full blown FlagShips too!
In the past consumers have mostly been impressed by Philipps, beautiful design, seldom by the phone’s pricing or specs. The Philips i966 promises a fresh start. It is the first real flagship from Philips and the first overall flagship to sport Alibaba’s YunOS 3.0 ( based on Android 4.4)
The Philips i966 specs are definitely surprisingly good: The phone comes with 5.5 inch 2K QHD display, Snapdragon 801 processor at 2.5 GHZ, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The phone also sports an impressive 8MP Selfie Cam and 20.7 Sony Main Camera with F1.8 aperture. The Phone Sports of course LTE and Dual Sim as well.
According to Philips the i966 is the first smartphone with a glass panel that is curved to all edges on the i966 body. According to the press images, you also get a fingerprint scanner on the i966 phone.
Philipps will start selling this beast on November 1st, a few weeks before Meizu is launching their Meizu MX4 Pro. We dont have more informations about the pricing, but we will keep you updated!

The Sony Xperia Z3 has just launched in Malaysia, some countries do not have it at all yet, but already we get Sony Xperia Z4 Leaks! New Details about the Sony Xperia Z4 Series have been leaked and its definitely packing the latest and strongest Specs!
The Leak about the Sony Xperia z4 specs comes from the same source that leaked the xperia z3 tablet compact. If you are a fan of phablets and high resolution displays the Z4 could be for you. While the competition already gearing up with 2K displays, the Z3 is still running FULL HD. The Xperia Z4 will finally sport a 2K QHD 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. Otherwise the appeareance stays largely unchanged with the same omni balance design, that we know from the Xperia Z series.
According to the Leak Source the Sony Xperia Z4 specs will also contain Qualcomms newest Snapdragon 810 Eight Core 64 Bit Chipset, that wil be clocked at 2.8 GHz and comes with the latest Adreno 430 GPU. 2 Leak Pictures show new stylish Meizu MX4 PRO
Meizu phones like the Meizu MX4 have always been eye catchers and surprised many with elegant and beautiful designs. As many other brands though, Meizu has taken some inspiration from other designs. As with the recent Meizu MX4, the MX4 is definitely a beauty to watch and feels great in the hand, it seems to be clearly inspired by the new iPhone 6 though.
Today we see new leaked pictures of the upcoming Meizu MX4 Pro Smartphone and yet again – they are beautiful. If you didnt know, Meizu was expected to launch several phones on September 2. They surprised everybody by launching just the Meizu MX4 Phone. We know for sure that at least one more version of MX4 series is launching this year, the Meizu MX4 Pro. The MX4 Pro will be a beefed up version of the MX4
Lets get back to the Meizu MX4 Pro Leak Pictures though. We can see two versions of the new mx4 Pro design, one in white/gold and one black. The Design reminds on Samsung on the one hand, because of the new home Button. The new Home Button is a very new design element for Meizu, which used only a glowing halo button for their last phones. The Leaks do also resemble Apple – because of, yeah the obvious Bling and Exclusiveness, have a look for yourself.
The MX4 Pro will come with Fingerprint Reader, that is most probably integrated in the new Home Button. That would also explain why they implemented the new design element instead of the glowing Halo Button on the MX4. In anyways the new design looks excellent, if not the most innovative.
From previous Leaks we know already that the MX4 Pro will sport a 5.36″ 2K QHD Display, Samsung Exynos 5 Eight Core SOC, 3GB of RAM and 20.7MP Sony Camera.
What do you think of the new Meizu MX4 Pro Design?
Lenovo creates new brand to attack Xiaomi
Since the Start of Xiaomi, just 4 years ago, they have taken a lot of market share from established chinese and global companies. Especially Chinese Phone Makers are struggling to find a solution to gain back sales versus Xiaomi’s dominant, high specs – low price strategy.
Some mobile manufacturers try to launch entire new low cost product lines, like Huawei with their Honor Brand. Others try to create a complete new brand of their own.
In a new report of the Wall Street Journal, WSJ have shown that Lenovo is taking the second option to target Xiaomi. Lenovo will create a complete new Mobile Phone Brand to tackle Xiaomi. Of course we dont have all details yet of the new Lenovo Brand, but the report says that Lenovo will launch their new sub-brand in April 2015. Chen Xudong, who is Lenovo’s president of China geography and Asia Pacific–emerging markets will be heading the new Brand.
In a recent Press Release Lenovo stated:
“The objective of this move is to help Lenovo attack the fast growing consumer mobile device market in China, with a focus not only on devices, but also on software and application development and close customer engagement. Currently Lenovo has a leading smartphone business, which sells mainly through open market sales and carrier relationships. While Lenovo has and continues to strengthen its own company-branded online channels as part of its go-to-market strategy, the new company will exclusively focus on direct-to-consumer sales, marketing and product development using an internet-based business model.”
Lenovo somehow got stuck in the middle. Less then two years ago they were famous for having good specs at low to medium prices like the A369i. While Xiaomi achieved to offer really high end specs for very attractive deals, we have the feeling that Lenovo struggles to really place themselves in the market. They launched some high end models, but those are priced at Apple Levels and above, and we doubt that many customers will choose Lenovo over Samsung or Apple at same price levels.
Lets hope that Lenovo will create an awesome new brand with high quality phones at reasonable prices for the users. With more competiton for Xiaomi, Meizu and Co definitely the users will win.
Google Nexus 6 Specs Comparison – Best Flagship 2014?
It seems like 2014 is really the rise of the Phablets. It has just been a few weeks since Samsung and Apple launched their big new phablets Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus and now its Google’s turn. Google just presented their new Nexus 6 phone to the world – and its a beauty!
As we expected Google announced the Nexus 6 together with the Nexus 9 tablet made by HTC. Quite surprisingly with 6inch, the Nexus 6 is the biggest Nexus phone we have seen so far. The Google Nexus Line has always been about the newest specs and an affordable price and it seems the Nexus 6 will be still part of that! Lets have a look at the Specs!
The new Galaxy Nexus 6 comes with the newest Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.7 GHZ and 3GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 805 comes with Adreno 420 GPU and the Snapdragon 805 might just be the most powerful processor at the moment available in the market. So far only the Note 4 sports the Snapdragon 805, and we can truly say its a Powerhouse. Also it sports the brand new Android Lollipop
The Galaxy Nexus 6 also sports a 5.96 inch screen, with a Quad HD 2K resolution of 1440 x 2560p. The pixel density is at 493ppi. With nearly 6 inch the Nexus 6 is quite huge, make no mistake. But as the Galaxy Note Series showed us, huge phones have definitely their benefits. For once the Google Nexus 6 will make for an extremely high speced portable tablet, which is pocketable at the same time.
The most intersting question is though how does the Nexus 6 compare to other Phablets and Flagships in the market 2014? Especially compared to the Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus?
The Google Nexus 6 has very similiar Specs to the Galaxy Note 4 but it quite a lot cheaper! So see who will be the real Flagship Champion 2014?
To find out please see here our FLagship 2014 Spec Comparison Sheet.

In terms of specs the Google Nexus 6, it seems that just the Note 4 can keep up with the Google Nexus 6, while the Nexus 6 comes with a much better pricing.
Especially the combination of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 at 2.7 Ghz, Adreno 420 and 3GB of RAM make the Nexus 6 a real Powerhouse. Both the Note 4 and the Galaxy Nexus 6 have nearly identical Specs up to the battery at 3220 mAh. The Nexus 6 has a quick charging feature, and Google says the battery will take only 15minutes to be fully charged. The Note 4 sports a slightly better camera combination though at 16MP and 3.6MP for Selfie Cam vs 13MP (f/2.0 sensor) and 2MP on the Nexus 6.
If you like phablets, on the lower end, the OnePlus One might be interesting for you. It sells at an price of just 300USD (1100RM) for a 5.5 inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM and the older, but powerful Snapdragon 801. The Problem with chinese smartphones like the OnePlus One and Xiaomi Mi4 is the availability though. While the Nexus 5 and we believe the Nexus 6 is easily available with guaruantee, its quite hard to buy the OnePlus One. Often people have to go through resellers with limited guaruantee.

Lets get back to the Nexus 6. We believe, if you like big phones, that the Nexus 6 is a very strong FlagShip. Like all the Google Nexus phones it will always, get the newest Android Updates, like now with Android Lollipop. At a price of USD 649 (2100RM) its cheaper then the competiton of Apple iPhone 6PLus and Samung Galaxy Note 4, and just as powerful. Google well done!
What do you think about the new Nexus 6? Did Google go the right way with the 6 inch phablet size? What do you think about the pricing?
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Review
Huawei might be not as good in Marketing as Xiaomi, but the Chinese Company keep improving their devices constantly and the Huawei Mate 7 is a truly beautiful gadget.Read our full Hands On Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Review.
Huawei’s latest phablet the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, shows that Huawei can achieve Top Level hardware and performance to compete with Apple iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. And while the Ascend Mate still has some room for improvement on OS Site, Huawei secures themselves a firm position in the World Smartphone Race.
Read our Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Review
Huawei Ascend Mate 7
The Ascend P7 Phone showed already what huge potential Huawei has, if they really focus. For sure Huawei took a lot of design inspiration from the Apple iPhone 4 Series, but it was still a very well built and solid phone, much better then most plastic rivals. The big problem with the Ascend P7 was the Software, as one Reviewer said: “it’s nice until you turn it on.” Due to the laggish software the performance gap between Ascend P7 and the competition from Apple and also Xiaomi was very huge.
Now Four Month later, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 shows the same focus and classy high end materials, while erasing a lot of the previous software problem with Huawei’s new EMUI OS. The Ascend Mate 7 is a huge premium metal phablet, which is roughly the same size as iPhone 6 Plus, but with more Screen estate of half an inch. The Screen of the Ascend Mate 7 is 1080p and not 2K like some of the competitors like the Note 4. At the IFA 2014 Huawei told us that the increased battery usage for 2K screen is just not worth it yet, and we agree with that. The Ascend Mate 7 screen is definitely very good looking and crisp enough.
The Ascend Mate 7, though beautiful, is due to its 6 inch size, still a very big phone. Overall Huawei achieved though to make a device that is just a tad bigger then the Note 4. You get a large screen, huge battery and slim metal body. As the enormous success of the Samsung Note Series showed, huge phones have their benefits. The Ascend Mate 7 is definitely a strong portable tablet, while still fitting your pocket. Especially the extreme strong battery life on the Mate 7 makes it really interesting and a worthy competitor for the Note 4 and other rivals.
Premium High End Quality on all Edges
The Mate 7 is not just compared to older Huawei Models beautiful, its an attractive and high class device in general. The lightly curved metal back blends into plastic sections in top and bottom, you get the impression of a nearly seamless case and design. The Mate 7 definitely can compete with the bigger players, for sure it can compete with the Note 4.
The Rear of the Mate 7 sports one of the best and most surprising features on this Android Phone – the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone. Huawei does a good job with the fingerprint scanner implementation, much closer to Apple’s Touch ID then other brands like HTC for example. The Sensor is activated by touch, and recognizes your fingerprint in any direction. While its not 100% accurate it comes very closely. Because, similiar to Apple Touch ID, its touch activated and not like Samsung Swipe activated, it feels much more premium.
Ascend Mate 7 Camera
One surprising use of the Fingerprint Scanner is to use as a shutter button. Since its placed on the backside of the Mate 7 we wouldnt recommend it though.
The 13MP Main Camera of the MATE 7 is a very decent camera. In daylight scenes the camera gives us very bright and highly detailed pictures even in very bright scenes. For darker conditions software sharpening helps capturing more details. Especially low light photography remains very inconsistent on a lot of high end Android Smartphones. The Mate’s 7 13MP Shooter can definitely keep up with with other expensive FlagShips like the Note 4.
Mate 7 camera shots
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Specs and Performance
The Mate 7 is powered by Huawei’s own eight-core Kirin CPU . The Kirin CPU sports four ARM Cortex A7 cores and four high power Cortex A15s combined with a Mali T628 GPU. Thats similiar to Samsung’s Eight Core Exynos Setup. Huawei’s setup seems just as fast as the Exynos Combination, provided the software is optimized correctly.

Our Mate 7 review unit is the 16GB storage and 2GB RAM option. In selected markets there will be a 32GB/3GB version that also comes in a gold finish. Aside from storage and RAM, the two variants are identical. Even with the 2GB RAM version the Mate 7 is powerful enough in combination with the Eight Core Kirin CPU.
Ascend Mate 7 Power Options
Out of the Box, we must say Huawei’s software is not really set for optimal performance. If you have a look under settings/power savings, the settings are set to smart. If you switch back to normal the phone gets much faster and smooth. Then, after these changes, the Mate 7 gets actually lightning fast and can compete and even beat most other Android Flagships in terms of speed and user experience.
Especially in terms of battery life the Ascend Mate 7 has huge advantage with its 4100 mAh battery. The Nexus 7 tablet for example comes with only 3900 mAh battery and Note 4, the direct competitor is at 3100mAH for the same screen estate. This brings you at least two days of normal usage and even under the most extreme circumstances at least one full day of usage for the Mate 7 phablet.
Huawei’s EMUI, gets better but is not optimal yet….
On Huawei’s EMUI 3.0 a lot of previous issues with Huawei’s OS are fixed but not everything perfect yet. On the positive site, things are very smooth and much better looking the before. EMUI has a new style triangle, round and square navigation buttons from Android L and matching colors. Huawei is definitely prepared for the Android L Lollipop Launch. The EMUI UI and its focus on Lines and circles gives the UI a really clean and geometric look, clearlydeoms inspirations from iOS 7 though.
On some other spots we get the same problems as before with the EMUI OS though. One some spots the EMUI still reminds of the mess out cartoonish OS and rounded icons everywhere. Huawei just has to make all app icons round, combined with its own colored background, in the whole UI not only the Launcher. The only option to get around it is to install a custom launcher and new icon pack. Still even then the issue persists on the mate 7.
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Summary
EMUI 3.0 is a big improvement for Huawei’S OS compared to earlier versions, but software is still Huawei’s weak side. Especially Samsung and their NOTE Software seem to fully use the potential of this big screen estate with several multitasking and business apps. Huawei has beaten lag and slowness from previous versions though, the Mate 7 is very fast and guaruantess smooth user experience – very promising!
If we look at the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, it seems like Huawei is definitely a brand to watch for the rest of 2014 and the coming year. They are already Number 3 in terms of global Sales, but not it seems they will be able to compete on product designa and quality as well. If Huawei can achieve to bring their OS and Software up to the Standard of their Design and Hardware, we predict that Huawei will be a very worthy competitor for 2015.
As you can see the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is supposed to launch in October in Malaysia. In terms of pricing the international versions has a price of around 2100RM for the 2GB Ram and 16GB Version that we tested. If you want to double your RAM and storage the price wil go up to 2500RM and for 3GB/32GB ROM Version.
What do you think of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7? Would you buy it or prefer the Note 4 or even Nexus 6?
Xiaomi Boss fight back to Jony Ive’s Critic for Copying Apple
Last week Apple’s Chef Designer, Jony Ive, criticised Xiaomi heavily for copying Apple Products. The Event was in a Q&A with Design fans and now Xiaomi has responded!
To be honest, no matter if you are Apple Fan or Xiaomi Fanboy, most of Xiaomi’s newest products and also the OS, MIUI, have more then a few similiarities to Apple. In fact these are too much similiarities to be purely random.
The Xiaomi MI4 is probably the smartphone that got the most attention and popularity, big part of it for its iPhone-like Design. Surely that is not the only product that takes Design Inspirations from Apple and John Ivy.
Like Xiaomi’s TV BOX that looks A lot like Apple TV, you can even compare their battery packs to the Ipods…
Xiaomi has been criticized by Fans and the Media before for the copying, but been criticized directly by John Ivy, must have worried XIaomi.
In the Q&A with Designers Jony Ive commented on Xiaomi:
“I’ll stand a little bit harsh, I don’t see it as flattery. When you’re doing something for the first time, you don’t know it’s gonna work, you spend 7 or 8 years working on something, and then it’s copied. I think it is really straightforward. It is theft and it is lazy. I don’t think it is ok at all.”
We know Xiaomi bosses not to be shy and keep quiet with former situations like this. As well this time, promptly Xiaomi CEO BIn Lin responded to John Ivy’s critique saying that Xiaomi does not copy anyone:
“Xiaomi is a very open company, will not be forced to ask you only use the products we have a lot of Xiaomi outside. seriously by any individual institution Over millet products qualify say is not copying someone else’s”
He further says that he will give John Ivy a Xiaomi Phone to use and test himself and can make a real judgment.
” I am willing to gift a Xiaomi phone to him (Ive), let him use it over and then really comment . “
What do you think of the whole debate of Xiaomi cs Apple? If Xiaomi really taking too much design inspirations from Apple? Is Jony Ive to rude?
Leak of Xiaomi Redmi with 5.5″, MT6595, 20 MP and 3GB
The Xiaomi Redmi Phone has been on sale for quite a while now. It feels like a small eternitiy since the low cost Xiaomi phone launched, so we are very excited that a pictures of a new Xiaomi Redmi have leaked.
When the Xiaomi Redmi launched the first time it really was a Monster Deal. The original Redmi Phone came with 4.7 inch 720p display, 8MP Camera, and very powerful processor, this phone was all that the customers wanted, with a great price included. Since then we have seen an updated Redmi 1S with QualComm Snapdragon Processor, but now we finally get an all new model.
The new Xiaomi Redmi will probably launch in Q4 and Xiaomi will use a Mediatek Processor instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPU. The Xiaomi Redmi will sell at 1499 Yuan (RM799) with Mediatek’s newest MT6595 Octa-Core CPU. With this pricing the new Xiaomi Redmi is targeted directly at the Meizu MX4.

According to our Sources the new Redmi will also sport a 5.5 inch full HD 1920x1080p Display, 3GB of RAM and a 20MP main camera along with LTE support.
The leaked pictures show the back panel of the supposedly new Redmi, which has definitely space for Dual LED flash and we can see the famous MI Logo.
So far we only have the Meizu MX4 and Zopo in the MT6595 CPU phones Race. If Xiaomi really launches the new Redmi with those specs and price of RM799 they could take Position Number 1 with their new phone.
Huawei launches Honor 6 Extreme Edition!
Today Huawei announced that they are going to pimp up the already great Huawei Honor 6 for RM999 and will launch a Huawei Honor 6 Extreme Edition.
There have been many companies tweaking the specs of their phones a bit to increase the sales but this one is different. The Huawei Honor 6 is a excellent phone and now we will get an Extreme Edition, that gets us excited!
Huawei announced at their launch in China today, that the Huawei Honor 6 Extreme Edition will sport a better processor and more RAM as well.
So how specifically is the new Honor 6 more extreme then the current version? The Extreme Edition gets the all new Kirin 928 Eight-core processor, which is boosted up from 1.3Ghz to a more powerful 2.0Ghz. The new Kirin Processor offers also CAT 6 LTE support and comes with a strong Mali T628MP4 GPU. The Huawei Honor 6 Extreme gets also full 3GB of Ram to further enhance the performance.
Performance is not the only factor and so the Huawei Honor 6 Extreme gets 32GB of internal memory which is extendable via MicroSD for up to 128GB of cheap external memory.
Overall we can say that the Honor 6 is already a very good phone and the Honor 6 Extreme Edition looks like a real interesting concept to us. Next to the Powerful Kirin Processor and 3GB of RAM you get a 5inch Full HD DIsplay, 13MP Main and 5MP Selfie Cam, 3100 mAH Battery and Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. We dont have information on Pricing or Launch in Malaysia yet.
