5 Best Stock Android smartphones: 4GB RAM; 5.7″ 2K display, SnD 835
For those who love the Android OS, having a phone that runs the original version is always a dream. And today, those dreams have come true because here is our list of best stock Android smartphones.
1. Essential PH-1
What is better than a stock Android device? It’s a stock Android device made by the original developer of Android himself, Andy Rubin. In fact, the company name Essential is the actual description of their devices, Said Rubin. The PH-1 has only the features that are Essential to the users. No annoying apps, no modifications of the pure android OS, just the essentials. Even the name of the firm is not on the phone.
However, minimalism in the design doesn’t mean the spec sheet has to follow. The phone packed one of the best specs available at the time. First, it has a 5.5-inch full-screen display that renders at 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. Inside, there is a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. So not just a stock Android phone, it is a powerful and “essential” stock Android phone for Android fans.
2. Google Pixel XL
Another way to get a good stock Android phone is from the giant corporation that has been developing the Android OS, Google (or Alphabet if you will). The Pixel XL features a 5.5 AMOLED screen that renders at 2K Resolution. Underneath is a Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB RAM and 32/128GB storage. The phone runs on Android Nougat, but it will be one of the first to receive the update to Oreo. After all, it’s a phone from the company that developed Android for years.
3. Huawei Nexus 6P
Despite the fact that this device is manufactured by Huawei, its common name is only Nexus 6P. Before the Pixels line, this used to be the Google phone. They make the software while Huawei makes the hardware. The Nexus 6P also has a 5.7-inch, 2K display. It launched two years ago, so the hardware is a bit dated with A Snapdragon 810 chip and 3 GB RAM. But that doesn’t mean the device is no longer relevant. Since the software is still under Google’s care, this phone is also getting the Oreo update.
4. Motorola Moto Z2 Force
Although not having much involvement in the development of the OS, Motorola has always been using stock Android on their phones. And it is no different with the Moto Z2 Force. The device has 5.5-inch display under QUAD HD resolution. Regarding memory, it measures 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. So it’s quite powerful and rightfully so for a flagship device.
5. Xiaomi Mi A1
This is the device has been the center of discussion for a while now. That mainly because the Xiaomi Mi A1 is the first Phone that fit the budget price of the Android One initiative and still packs a few top tier specs. For instance, 5.5 full HD screens, dual 12MP primary cameras, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. And the best about this phone is that all those specs available just for EUR 240 (~Rs. 18,360)

Meizu pro 7 plus launch in Malaysia: 6GB RAM, 5.7″QHD, dual screen
When the world is going mad about Samsung’s infinite display, there comes a question: “why be content with one screen, when you can have two?”. And that is the question to ask on the day the Meizu Pro 7 plus launch.
Meizu Pro 7 specs: two screens (because one isn’t enough)
Needless to say, the first thing you will see when you cast your gaze upon the Meizu Pro 7 is going to be the secondary screen on the back. But other than that the design language is pretty trendy. It has flat metallic back, curved edges, and a physical home button. The home button can sound off putting at first, but it houses the fingerprint scanner. And an accurate fingerprint scanner to make your life easier should always be appreciated. In a word, the secondary display didn’t end up breaking the trendy, nice design of the device.
Now, it’s time for some technical overview (read spec sheet skimming). The Meizu Pro 7 specs show, of course, two screens. One super AMOLED 5.7-inch that renders at QUAD HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution. The other is a 2-inch display with 240 x 536 pixels resolution. This phone is going to be one of the earliest, if not the first, to have a MediaTek Helio X30 chip running a 10-cores CPU. For the memory, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus sports 6GB RAM along with 64/128GB storage. There is, however, no MicroSD slot but we think that’s a small price for the glorious secondary display.
For those who love taking selfies, this phone has got your back. The front camera features a massive 16MP sensor for all the selfie needs in the world. On the other side, the primary shooter is a dual 12MP cam with f/2.0 aperture. The battery can provide 3500 mAh at full capacity. So it should last you through the day without a sweat.
Meizu Pro 7 plus launch: coming soon
Meizu facebook just updated a status saying the device is coming soon in Malaysia. That could mean the company is finalizing the deal with retailers and the official launch is within September.
Sony Xperia X series get security fixes: 23MP camera, IP68, September
Sony has been rolling out a global security update. It started out earlier on the Xperia XZ and XZ premium. Now the Sony Xperia X series gets the update.
Sony Xperia X series specs: 23MP camera
The standard Sony Xperia specs feature 5 inches of full HD screen made of scratch-resistant glass with oleophobic coating. Under the display is a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset model 650 running an Hexa-cores CPU. The Sony Xperia X RAM sports 3GB with two memory options: 32 or 64GB. However, if that is not enough, there is a MicroSD slot to increase the storage up to 256GB. The device’s battery can provide 2620 mAh which translates into 67 hours on standby. But still, It should get you through a day on normal occasion.
The other phone of the series is the Xperia X Compact. The name compact doesn’t mean this phone got worse specs since the only thing that got reduced is the screen size which measures 4.6 inches. The Xperia X Compact battery even got its capacity boosted to 2700 mAh. While the rest of the spec remains the same (SnapDragon 650 chipset and 3GB RAM), there is only the 32GB storage option. However, the MicroSD slot is still there so that shouldn’t be much of an issue.
The mobile photographers are going to like the Sony Xperia X camera. The reason is that it got a 23MP sensor for the primary camera while the selfie camera has 16MP. The same goes for the Compact variant. Another interesting feature of the Xperia X series is that they feature a fingerprint scanner but on the side of the phone. It’s directly where you would rest your index finger when holding with the left hand.
Sony Xperia series update: arrive in September
This is the September security update for Sony devices. However, since it came out just after the Android Oreo official release, it’s more like a preparation for the next big update. So we will keep our fingers crossed and look for an official announcement.

This year has seen a lot of flagships released into the competition. Amongst all of the devices, we think that these are the five best smartphone 2017 has so far.
1. Samsung Galaxy S8 plus
It would not be right if the Samsung’s flagship does not make it to the list. The design of this phone isn’t simply gorgeous. It set a new standard for the industry. The transition between the curved screen and the metal glass back is very seamless. Turn off the screen, And it’s very difficult to see where one ends and the other begins. Afterall, this is the device that becomes the full-screen standard for the industry.
Regarding hardware, the Samsung Galaxy S8 plus specs are probably equal to a few devices and above the rest. It features a 6.2-inch, super AMOLED screen rendering at 1440 x 2960 pixels (Quad HD). Inside, it’s the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset running an octa-cores CPU. The Samsung Galaxy S8 plus RAM measures 6GB with 128GB storage. So as far as raw power is concerned, the Galaxy S8 plus can perform whatever task you throw at it quickly and smoothly.

Coming up next is the HTC U11. Spec-wise, this device is on the same level with the S8 plus. It has 6GB RAM/128GB ROM as well as a Snapdragon 835 chipset. On the other hand, the design takes a more conventional approach. The screen measures 5.5 inches while still render at QUAD HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution. Nevertheless, We enjoyed our time using the phone since it is well-rounded in all aspects.
3. OnePlus 5
This phone is one of the examples for “look can be deceiving.” Design-wise, this device seems like any others. But on the inside, it’s a real powerhouse. To be specific, there is a Snapdragon 835 chip that operates under 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. And as if that is not enough, the OnePlus 5 camera sports dual 16MP sensors on the back while the selfie shooter has a single 16MP lens. So a trio of 16MP snapper for all your photography needs.

Sometimes, extraordinary specs aren’t the only thing to put a phone under the spotlight. The Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch full HD screen, a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM and 128GB non-expandable storage. So what puts this device on the list? As it turns out, the Xiaomi Mi 6 price is only EUR 400 (~RM 2020). So in a sense, you can have 2 Mi 6 (because reasons) instead of another flagship at the same specs.
5. LG G6
Here we got another device that goes the for the price competition. The LG G6 launch was in February, so its specs are a little behind. But that doesn’t make it less powerful. Meizu Pro 7 Plus review: Dual 12MP Sony camera, 6GB RAM
Meizu has returned with a new flagship – the Meizu Pro 7 Plus. However, they wow us this time with a 12MP Sony camera setup and a dual-screen. Let’s check our Meizu Pro 7 Plus review now!
Meizu Pro 7 Plus specs: 6GB RAM, dual-screen setup
A lot of Chinese manufacturers have raised the bar for creating new smartphones and Meizu is catching up with them. Firstly, for the new Meizu Pro 7 Plus device, Meizu uses the MediaTek Helio X30 chip. Additionally, the Meizu Pro Plus 7 handset sports a 6GB RAM. Moreover, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus phone contains a generous 3500 mAh battery. We think this newly launched Meizu smartphone can compete with many current flagships, such as the OnePlus 5, Xiaomi Mi 5X, etc.
In term of the design, Meizu has really taken a big step with a dual-screen setup. Like other smartphone with dual-screen set-up, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus secondary screen can also do several tasks like displaying notifications, battery percentage (if you’re charging the phone), step count, and weather. Furthermore, It can also display a wallpaper of your choice. The most interesting part is that you can take your selfie by the rear cameras through the smaller screen.
Regarding the photography, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus cameras do a decent job, in our opinions. The Chinese brand has used the 12MP dual-camera system with a sensor from Sony. This kind of setup allows you to take photos with bokeh effect like many flagships have been doing lately like the Oneplus 5, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Thanks to the dual-screen setup, now, even your selfies will have the trendy bokeh effect. Finally, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus brand runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Meizu Pro 7 Plus review: Price and availability
The Meizu Pro 7 Plus price starts at $500 (about RM. 2106). However, we can ensure you guys that this Meizu Pro 7 Plus phone is worth every penny. What do you think about this new Meizu Pro 7 Plus phone? Tell us in the comment section below.
5 Best smartphone cameras September 2017 update: 6GB RAM, Dual 12MP cam
Taking photos with a smartphone has always been a thing. And it has become the name of the game for the industry in 2017. Therefore, today we give you five best smartphone cameras up until September 2017.
1. Samsung Galaxy Note 8
This should not come as a surprise anymore, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the best Android phone for now. It features the Qualcomm 835 Snapdragon chipset to run an octa-cores CPU. Along with that are 6GB RAM and three storage options: 64, 128 or 256GB. Covering that hardware is a 6.3-inch display that renders at 1440 x 2960 pixels.
Not just displaying sharp images, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Camera is also capable of capturing them. The device has a dual 12MP primary camera and 8MP selfie cam. Some smartphones feature bigger number than this but the Note 8 still ended up the best camera phone thanks to a dedicated software. It allows you to customize and configure the camera just like a professional one. So calling the Note 8 camera a smartphone cam is an understatement. Because it is on the level of low-end DSLR.
2. Apple iPhone 7 Plus
For the moment, Apple loses its spotlight to its iconic rival, Samsung. However, that doesn’t mean the iPhone 7 plus is not right behind. Apple iPhone 7 plus specs can be considered sub par amongst other flagship. But the real power of the device comes from the iOS operating system. The camera, however, is a match to the Note 8 since with a dual 12MP rear shooter. With a better software support, it can really be the iconic rival of Android cameras. The iPhone 8 release is close so we can always hope for the best.
3. Google Pixel
If you like the Android OS and prefer a pure Android experience this phone might suit you. The Google Pixel features a 5-inches AMOLED screen that comes in full HD resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels). On the inside, there is a Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB RAM and two storage option of either 32GB or 128GB. The device camera sports 12.3MP with f/2.0 aperture on the main camera and 8MP selfie cam with f/2.4 aperture.
4. Huawei P9
This device is amongst the first smartphones to implement dual cameras. It features two 12MP sensors on the primary shooter and 8MP on the frontal one. Even for an old device, it still has some pretty good specs. First, there is a 5.2-inch full HD display protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the HiSilicon Kirin 955 chipset running an octa-core CPU and 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM. The Huawei P9 battery can hold 3000 mAh once fully charged.
5. Sony Xperia X
There seems to be a question asked when this phone was still on the drawing board: “who needs two cameras when you can have one camera with huge resolution”. That question is the perfect description of the Sony Xperia X camera. The rear snapper measures a massive 23MP while the front camera shows a 16MP resolution. So even for an almost two years old phone, the Xperia X still pack very high resolution in its camera.
