ZenFone 2 is attracting many people these days. As we have mentioned before, ASUS Malaysia brings all 4 ZenFone 2 Variants to Malaysia. The ASUS ZenFone 2 Malaysia Prices will start at RM599 for the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE550CL 5″ Version and up to RM1,299 for the ASUS ZenFone 2 4GB RAM Version. And in this post today, we would like to look at ZenFone 2 in terms of our first impressions.

ASUS ZenFone 2 Looks:

In comparison with other phones belonging to ASUS family, ZenFone 2 is not very different. It is made with metallic back and general styling. It has 5.5” display Full HD; yet is a bit shorter than OnePlus One 5.5” (152.5mm as compared to 152.9mm, respectively), but totally wider (77.2mm to 75.9mm). ZenFone 2 comes with the thickness of 3.9mm at its thinnest point. This smartphone weighs 170 gram, not light but not too heavy. Somehow you can relate to the iPhone 6 Plus with the weight of 172 gram. It is solid enough and likely to fit most common palms partly thanks to its slightly curved back.

On the front surface, ZenFone 2 includes three button beneath: Back, Home, and Multi-tasking. There is also a new rear mounted control underneath the camera for users to take photos or adjust the volume. With that arrangement, the phone’s sides are completely bare. The power button is on the top of ZenFone 2. Some people do not think that is a good choice because of the size of the phone. Users may feel harder to reach the button on the top than on one side.

Well, until now, you can see that ZenFone 2 and its predecessor have many things in common, right?!

Let’s talk about ASUS ZenFone 2 Malaysia versions:

The first in ZenFone distinctive versions is Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) with a 5.5” full IPS screen, 4GB RAM (the world’s first smartphone with such spec), a quad-core 64-bit 2.3GHz Z3580 Atom processor, a 3,000mAh battery, and 32GB of storage. Rounding off the back is a 13MP f/2.0 camera with a dual LED flash and the front is a 5MP front snapper. Besides, if you want larger storage, you can choose 64GB version. Aside from such a crazy amount of RAM that would help it deal with high load apps, we also have a variant ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) with 5.5″ FHD, 2GB RAM, 1.8GHz Z3560, and 32GB ROM.

Next is the ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML) with a 5.5” 720p IPS display, 2GB RAM, and a 1.8GHz Z3560 quad-core processor. Apart from those things, this version shares the rest of the phone’s qualities. Both ZE550ML and ZE551ML will be running Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI 2.0 on top and able to get an extra 5GB ASUS web storage.

Last but not least, the model ZenFone 2 (ZE500CL) comes with a smaller screen of 5-inch HD 720p. It is equipped with an older 1.6GHz Z2560 processor, a 8MP rear – 2MP front cameras, and a smaller battery – 2,500mAh one.

ASUS ZenFone 2 Accessories:

Along with ZenFone 2, some new accessories for the phone are also produced. Three of them are two new camera accessories (ZenFlash and LolliFlash) and ZenPower 10050mAh powerbank.

ZenFlash, which is connected to the phone via the microUSB slot, is a rear mounted camera accessory that enable you to turn your ZenFone 2 into a high end DSLR-like camera. It also gives a huge boost to the details of photos taken in low lighting conditions. The ZenFlash price is about RM67.

LolliFlash, which reminds us of a colorful lollipop, affixes to the device’s headphone jack. It can be used as a dual-toned LED torch to get more natural photos or maybe as a protective cover for the phone. The LolliFlash price is about RM33.

ZenPower powerbank has a higher 2.4A output helping charge quicker than standard 2.1A based powerbanks. Unfortunately it is only available in Indonesia market now with a price of about RM75.

 

Those are first impressions for ZenFone 2. In general, it does well and looks well in relation to the ASUS ZenFone 2 Malaysia specs and prices. From our experience from the ZenFone 2 Event, it was for sure consistent and smooth, so in terms of performance, there will be no complaints. Nonetheless, we have to wait till it is tested in real life to see whether ZenFone 2 can beat other players or not. But let’s be honest, at a price of RM1099 for 4GB RAM – ASUS ZenFone 2 could be the Smartphone King 2015.
