Xiaomi Mi Note finally comes to Malaysia! Xiaomi’s Zenfone 2 Competition!

Xiaomi “i is coming” event is happening this Thursday, April 23th, in India to introduce a new global phone. Meanwhile here in Malaysia, we have spotted 2 flagship phones from Xiaomi on Malaysia’s SIRIM Certification database. It seems that Malaysia is one of the first countries outside China to get the 5.7″ Xiaomi Mi Note Phablet with Snapdragon 801 and 3GB RAM, the other phone is the long awaited Xiaomi Mi4 3G.

Xiaomi did promise to bring the high-end smartphone Xiaomi Mi Note to Malaysia in Q2 2015 and the XIaomi MI Note has just passed the certification with model number 2015011. This model supports dual SIM and can operate on Malaysia’s local 1800MHz/2600MHz 4G LTE bands. A Similar model has been certified in Singapore under the name “Mi Note”.

Mi Note and Mi4 certified

The remaining model numbered 2014215, as we speculated, is no other than the Xiaomi Mi4 3G variant. Previously, Xiaomi stated that it has no plan bringing the Mi4 to Malaysia due to the lack of full 4G LTE support. Now, with 3G version, Xiaomi can still enter this potential market with the anticipated Mi4.

As far as we are concerned about the Xiaomi Mi4 3G version, the phone sports similar specs except for a 5’ fHD display. Front camera and main camera are of 8Mp and 13MP, respectively and 3GB RAM. Both comes with aperture of f/1.8. In its homeland, China, there are several Mi4 versions but it seems like we are going to get the Unicom 3G unit. There are also reports on Xiaomi’s plan to launch a cheaper MI4 with only 2GB RAM instead of 3GB. For now, would you consider buying a phone without 4G LTE?

Xiaomi Mi Note Malaysia Hands On

It seems that Malaysia is finally getting the Xiaomi Mi Note and Xiaomi Mi4, both got SIRIM Certification already. As for the Xiaomi Mi Note Price in Malaysia we expect it to be around RM1350-1400. The Xiaomi Mi4 3G Price in Malaysia should sell at RM900-1000 to be competitive enough. Probably we still have to wait some time for the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro with 4GB RAM to come to Malaysia, it was not included in the SIRIM Certification yet.

The big question seems if Xiaomi can compete with those devices. Right now they are facing intense competition from the Asus Zenfone 2, especially in the 4GB RAM Version. The Asus Zenfone 2 4GB Price in Malaysia will be around RM1100, at better specs then the Xiaomi Mi Note.
