You can see the IMEI number. On the back of your\u00a0iPhone. Then, compare it with the IMEI number in the OS. You go to\u00a0<em>Settings<\/em>\u00a0=&gt;\u00a0<em>General =&gt; About\u00a0<\/em>and you will see the IMEI number at the bottom. If both number are the same, you can move to the 2nd step.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second, make sure the\u00a0Activation Lock is not stolen!\u00a0<\/strong>To be clearer, if the iPhone you&#8217;re purchasing has &#8220;Find my iPhone&#8221; turned on, you won&#8217;t be allowed to do anything UNLESS you know the Apple ID of the previous owner! There is a\u00a0free online tool to check if\u00a0the IMEI number of the phone you&#8217;re buying is on the global blacklist! \u00a0Go to <em>swappa.com<\/em>, fill\u00a0in the IMEI number and\u00a0wait a little while to see the result. If the iPhone is on the blacklist, DONT buy it! Because it must have been stolen from its real owner.<\/p>\n<h3>iPhone Tips: Take care of the data and the\u00a0warranty<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The forth iPhone tip you need to do is erase all the data of the previous owner.\u00a0<\/strong>You need to\u00a0unlink the current owner\u2019s Apple ID from\u00a0<em>Settings<\/em> -&gt; <em>iCloud <\/em>(that&#8217;s why I said that you MUST know the previous ID). Then, you\u00a0go to <em>General<\/em>\u00a0=&gt;\u00a0<em>Reset<\/em>\u00a0=&gt;\u00a0<em>Erase All Content and Settings<\/em> to remove all date\u00a0from the iPhone. <strong>Last but not least, you should check if the phone is legit.\u00a0<\/strong>You can go to\u00a0<em>checkcoverage.apple.com<\/em> and fill in the serial number of the iPhone you&#8217;re buying. If you can go to next page, that phone is legit. The serial number can be found on the back of the phone.
