Alcatel brings three new budget devices to MWC this year. So let’s take a look at two of them, the Alcatel A3 and U5 to see what they have to offer.

Alcatel A3 and Alcatel U5: New budget phones

Alcatel introduced three budget devices today, the Alcatel A3, Alcatel U5 and Alcatel A5 LED. Out of the three, Alcatel A5 has the highest specs and slightly higher price too. The other two have lower specs and target entry-level market. So let’s take a closer look at their specs. In terms of Alcatel A3 specs, it features a 5″ HD display screen, a Mediatek MT6737 1.25GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM ad 16GB ROM. The phone is mounted with a 13MP f/2.0 camera on the back with autofocus feature and LED flash, capable of taking 1080p@30fps video. The front camera is 5MP and also comes with LED flash. Alcatel A3 comes with a 2460mAh battery.

The Alcatel U5 is the most affordable smartphone that Alcatel bring to MWC 2017. As for Alcatel U5 specs, it features a 5″ 480 x 854 pixels resolution display screen. The phone is powered by a Mediatek MT6737M 1.1GHz quad-core, along with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. In term of Alcatel U5 cameras, the phone is equipped with a 5MP shooter on the back and a 2MP snapper on the front. Both come with LED flash and can record 720p@30fps videos. Alcatel U5 comes with a 2050mAh battery.

Both phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and have 4G LTE connection. Both will also available in 2 variants: single SIM and dual SIM. The major difference is that Alcatel A3 has a fingerprint scanner on the rear while the U3 has none.

While Alcatel hasn’t announced the price for these two devices yet, we suspect both will be under $150 ~ RM. 10000. Judging by the specs, these models will likely target emerging markets like South East Asia, India and China.
